[nysbirds-l] Gyrfalcon this morning: NO
Carrie Laben and I spent from early AM through 10:30 AM trying to find the Gyrfalcon with no luck. It apparently is most reliable in the afternoon. Only birds of note during our visit were two Rough-legged Hawks (one at Shawangunk, one along Hoagerburgh), 2 Bald Eagles at the spillway on the Wallkill River, Common Goldeneyes, Hooded Mergansers, and a Common Merganser downstream from the spillway, an American Kestrel on Bruyn Turnpike, a Peregrine Falcon on Bates Lane, and a couple of Horned Lark flocks around Blue Chip Farm.
