[nysbirds-l] Orange County Week Highlights
Today I birded the Newburgh Waterfront, from approx. 3:45 to 5PM. Gull number were good with the highlights being a first winter Glaucous Gull and 2 first winter Iceland Gulls. Two other county highlight from early in the week were found by Matt Zeitler. On Tuesday, 1/27, Matt had 6 Lapland Longspur on Missionland Rd. in Pine Island. On Saturday, 1/31, 4 Longspurs remained. On Thursday, 1/29, Matt located a Barn Owl flying on Oil City Rd. Locally: My Father (Ken McDermott), reported that he and others from the John Burroughs Club had at least 13 Short-eared Owls today at Shawangunk Grasslands (Galeville).
