[nysbirds-l] Van Cortlandt Park birds
I went this morning from about 8:45am to around 10:30am to the Van Cortlandt Park Parade Grounds and Lake area looking for the recently found geese. The 2-300 Canada Geese were on the fields but only the imm. white phase Snow Goose was there. I got excellent looks at all the geese from several angles and in flight (some idiot and her rat dog kept harassing them) and didn't see anything different other than the Snow Goose. I also had 2 juv. Cooper's Hawks, 2 Hooded Mergansers, many Mallards, 7 Red-winged Blackbirds, 7 Ruddy Ducks, 15+ Northern Shovelers, 1 Great Blue Heron, and the usual winter forest birds. Re: [nysbirds-l] Van Cortlandt Park birds
Actually the Barnacle & 1 Cackler are still present. I just left the park about an hours ago. The Cackler was with the Canada Geese on the lake and the Barnacle was grazing on a fenced in area just off the parade ground near a park maintenance area.
