Re: [obc] New rules for OBC mailing list

2002-10-26 Thread Sean R. Crowe

Dear OBC board,

I agree completely with Barbara's opinion on this issue. I consider it an
insult to my intelligence to imply that I cannot make my own critical
judgements on the summisions to this list. It's what we have to do every day
in today's world. If some information is irrelevant to me or an opinion is
not intelligently and objectively expressed (which I can determine pretty
quickly), then I am perfectly capable of ignoring and deleting it. Otherwise
I'll give it due consideration and make my own judgement (whether the source
is a member or a non-member)..

I have found this list a very useful source of information over the years
despite the necessary 'pruning'. I would miss it but I would not accept a
censored list. Please reconsider your decision.

Sean R. Crowe, OBC member

I agree that the OBC list should be kept open to all, the only
restrictions
being that everyone follow the rules and policies set out by the list
manager. If a member or non-member contributor repeatedly abuses his/her
privileges, then send a warning to that individual to abide by the
standards
or risk being removed. We have in the past cancelled memberships of
members
who have not toed the line, so it should be the same for our email
 discussion group.
I always thought our club represented the cycling community so we should
welcome open discussions on subjects of interest to all cyclists and not
just keep the goings on within the club membership a closed secret.
Perhaps the membership should be asked to vote on this issue at the AGM
next
Wed. rather than have the Board decide for us.

 My $$'s worth

Re: [obc] STI Lever Repair

I've heard of people starting to resemble their pets but I've never heard of
anyone resembling their bike components!

If there is anyone out there who has successfully resembled the internal
mechanism of an STI lever I would appreciate your help.
