Re: [obc] Streets Trips 2002
I've been using a $19.95 package that you can get at most gas station. It is made by Mapart Publishing (www.mapart.com) and is basically a scan of the paper map. The nice thing about it is that it shows all the bike paths and you can measure a route with a few clicks. While it shows several cities around Ottawa, it is limited when using it in between cities and it does not cover the Gatineau park completely. This is a database of all the roads in the U.S. and most of Canada. Version 2002 is, on first look, a fairly significant improvement to the database. In Ottawa, for example, the 2001 edition would not let you cross the Portage Bridge between Ottawa and Hull; 2002 does. The Ottawa-Kennebunkport trip included Bear Trap Rd. just after the ferry to Vermont. This road is shown accurately now whereas it was not a through road on the previous CD-ROM. I've been using programs like this one for several years to plan cycling routes and I'd love to hear from anyone else who has experience (bad or good) with other programs like this. Does it include elevations or calculate grades? Can it export to a GPS? Tom On Sunday, September 23, 2001 at 13:27, Bob Hicks [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote on [obc] Streets Trips 2002, saying..
