[okular] [Bug 486515] New: Impossible to open other pdf files from file explorer, while okular is already open

2024-05-03 Thread Adriano
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486515

Bug ID: 486515
Summary: Impossible to open other pdf files from file explorer,
while okular is already open
Classification: Applications
   Product: okular
   Version: 23.08.1
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-devel@kde.org
  Reporter: adri...@blat.it
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When Okular is already open, it's not possible to open other pdf files from
internet explorer.
A warning appears:
"The specified device, path, or file could not be accessed. It is likely that
you do not have the necessary permissions."

But, if I drag and drop that file, from internet explorer on the opened okular
window, the pdf is loaded and displayed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. double click on a pdf file in internet explorer (or on desktop too) (or use
right click contestual menu to use open command)
2. okular is opened and the pdf is displayed
3. as in point 1, try to open another pdf file.

OBSERVED RESULT
4. the warning window is displayed, and okular doesn't load that file.

EXPECTED RESULT
5. a new okular window (or tab??) is opened with the second pdf file

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 11

As far as I am concerned tasks can't be stolen, but taken - important
difference, decriminalization of colaboration etc.
Why does the interface offer this function though?
