Hello,

for small amounts from private persons it will be better
you offer paypal (-donation) too.
https://www.paypal.com/de/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow=0DhZCUoQyUfgZxqWh-_3fbqRqn5hNJFMTEAow8szClc8p7wgNC3c8pDbUeC=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8dc3f308debf7330dd8d0b0a9f21afd7d3=Merchant__ButtonDesignerFlow___StateButtonDesignerStart=885abefea41ef918124519b9a82d2f77d8c3e533

Invoice online or as pdf I prefer too.

Tobias, few minutes ago I send my donation by bank wire in EURO.
Please check what you get CHF or EURO and how much are the bank
charges from your Postfinance AG.
Maybe its better when you have a bank account in the EURO-Zone
(Germany, France are near to you) because few banks collecting
bank charges by wiring to Switzerland.
Feedback by PN please.

You can setup the new VM with the web console first and start the

Hello Richard Elling and List,

all my 3 server with supermicro boards powered the fans with full
throttle after power on. After few seconds the speed go to low speed.
I have set the Fan Speed Control Modes to Balanced so they all run
with +/- 1700 RPM.
At Reboot the fans do not turn up to full speed the stay balanced.

Re: [OmniOS-discuss] LSI SAS3041e-HP

2014-08-27 Thread Alexander Lesle
Hello Fábio,

first download on the LSI website:
http://www.lsi.com/support/pages/download-results.aspx?component=Storage+Componentproductfamily=Legacy+Host+Bus+Adaptersproductcode=P00056assettype=Firmwareproductname=LSI+SAS+3041E-R
this two files:

SAS3041ER_ Package_P21_IR_IT_Firmware_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows
http://www.lsi.com/downloads/Public/Host%20Bus%20Adapters/Host%20Bus%20Adapters%20Common%20Files/SAS_SATA_3G_P21/SAS3041ER_%20Package_P21_IR_IT_Firmware_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows.zip
SASFlash Quick Reference Guide
http://www.lsi.com/downloads/Public/Obsolete/Obsolete%20Common%20Files/SASFlash_Ref_Guide.zip

Unzip the first file and copy all the files not the folders on your
USB-Stick - in a new folder e.g. named sas3041 not more than 8
letters.
Boot to DOS, switch to c:\sas3041 and first I recommend to do
'sasflash -list' and write down all infos about the card first.
You know now the Chip Version and the SAS Address.

Now you can run the 'hbaFlash.bat', select CardType, PCIType, IT-Mode
and Chipversion.
The batch first flash the Firmware and here you get maybe a message that
the ProduktID an VendorID does not match. Type Y to flash anyway.
After flashing Firmware you MUST get the message Firmware Flash
Successful
the same with the second flash BIOS you MUST get the successfull
message too and Finished Processing Commands Successfully.
You have done your card is now in IT-Mode and reflashed to LSI.

When sasflash breaks and you cant flash the card because it is
branded to HP - you have to erase the card first.
Reboot than 'sasflash -o -e X' X=Parameter
I always use Parameter=6 when I want to reflash to a LSI card.
Do NOT reboot after erase - run the batch file and than set the
SAS Address with 'sasflash -o -sasadd 500x' (x= numbers for SAS address)
You have done.

Check the driver - see Eric Sproul's recommendation yesterday.
If OmniOS use the driver mpt I would check it out
Parameter=7 to change to mpt_sas.

Good luck. :)

Re: [OmniOS-discuss] Pool degraded

2014-04-11 Thread Alexander Lesle
Hello Kevin Swab and List,

thanks Kevin your contribution helps me.

It would be nice if an official of Illumos or Omnios would confirm it
and would change the man page of zpool(1m).

On April, 08 2014, 22:22 Kevin Swab wrote in [1]:

The man page seems misleading or incomplete on the subject of
autoreplace and spares. Setting 'autoreplace=on' should cause your
hot spare to kick in during a drive failure - with over 1100 spindles
running ZFS here, we've had the opportunity to test it many times! ;-)

I couldn't find any authoratative references for this, but here's a few
 unautoratative ones:

 http://my.safaribooksonline.com/book/operating-systems-and-server-administration/solaris/9780137049639/managing-storage-pools/ch02lev1sec7

 http://stanley-huang.blogspot.com/2009/09/how-to-set-autoreplace-in-zfs-pool.html

 http://www.datadisk.co.uk/html_docs/sun/sun_zfs_cs.htm

 Hope this helps,
 Kevin

 spares
   c1t5000CCA22BF5B9DEd0 INUSE currently in use

After resilvering I made power-off, unplugged the broken HDD from
Case-slot 1 and switched the Spare from Slot 21 to Slot 1.
The pool is still degraded. The broken HDD I cant remove it.

 # zpool remove pool_ripley c1t5000CCA22BEEF6A3d0
cannot remove c1t5000CCA22BEEF6A3d0: only inactive hot spares,
cache, top-level, or log devices can be removed

What can I do to through out the broken HDD and tell ZFS that the
spare is now member of mirror-0 and remove it from the spare list?
Why does not automatically jump in the Spare device and resilver the
 pool?

 Thanks.

 Which VMware are you using?
Yes Omnios is on ESXi5.5 with 2 vnics vmxnet3.
But I dont power off I copies a snapshot from the VM to my standalone
Omnios backup-server. (Napp-it/Job/replicate)

And can you try it without the VMware
 Host-Guest Filesystem and vmblock features?

Dont understand what I have to do.
Can you explain it for me, please.

About riser-card you got a answer from Matthew Frazer.

Take a look at Supermicro add-on Cards:

There you can find a 4 Port Intel Nic

I appreciate that you are trying to help, Alexandre, but there are two
points that I find puzzling in your advice.

Firstly that I've never seen any other reference to needing a riser for a
PCI card. SAS, yes; PCI, no.

Secondly, Supermicro's own compatibility matrix for the product, at
 http://www.supermicro.nl/support/resources/AOC/UIO_AOC_Compatibility.cfm
excludes the NIC you mention from my hardware; it is a full-height card
and the 5017C-LF only accommodates low-profile.

Thats about the slot-plate nothing else.
UIO is it on the other side. Its not a problem to chance it to
standard and the SM add-on cards are quite cheap.

Look at the 4-port interphase nic
the specs tells also:
Form Factor: PCI express, standard height, half length
and standard height is full height

I have found this Intel nic in low profile, but maybe EOL
