[OmniOS-discuss] OmniOSce installer rpool slicing
In the previous Solaris style installer we had the option of only using a portion of the disk that the rpool went on. This was very good for SSDs that perform better and last longer if they have some additional slack space that never has data written to it. Is there a way to achieve this with the new installer? -Chip ___ OmniOS-discuss mailing list OmniOS-discuss@lists.omniti.com http://lists.omniti.com/mailman/listinfo/omnios-discuss

Re: [OmniOS-discuss] OmniOSce installer rpool slicing
I've been overprovisioning my SSDs using either MFG supplied tools in the case of Samsung or Intel units and raw SATA commands on old Vertex drives. The OS sees a smaller volume and the drive knows that 'slack' space is truly slack.
