Re: CWS swbookmarkfixes01 rebasing and licensing
I'd suggest being even more patient. In my experience people don't give answers to general queries involving legal issues. A specific question, like please can we we have CWS foo since the community wishes to integrate it is more likely to get a response. The general case, as far as we are aware, remains the same. Oracle have, so far, never refused our requests when they have been specific and actionable. In Lubuntu I hotplugged the monitor/beamer and ran arandr which had the same effect. arandr can save ones configuration (either single monitor or dual - perhaps multiple? - monitors) as a script file. Running the appropriate batch file sets Lubuntu up to recognise the dual monitor positioning; the script files can be linked to hotkeys (arandr gives instructions). You might want to see how to carve out what you want from that, since it is at least a start and the places where further customization may be called for are all identified. - Dennis Hi Dennis, You did a good job on it then too. I just took the time to go back and read over the exchange on the legal JIRA entry and a quick read, again, of your markup to the original TOU text. For a TOU link in the website, wiki and forum footer I think it is a good think to just finish this up and use it. The website no longer offers account creation so with the new TOU and the current http://www.openoffice.org/privacy.html , I suppose it would be done (for today :) where one does still have a difference between registered and non-registered users: - the media wiki already has http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OpenOffice.org_Wiki:Copyrights so I suppose that would be done (for today) also. - the forums, just add a requirement that everything new is ALv2 in http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/ucp.php?mode=terms (and it's translations) At least it seems this simple to me, does it really need to be thought out a lot further then that? If someone has a specific proposal, can they stick it on the Cwiki as a draft and we can work on it a bit? As simple as possible, but no simpler. -Rob //drew Some months ago it was discussed with the ASF Board whether a privacy condition and safe-harbor setup was desired. RE: Google Play [A]OO
If I understand the Google Store page, this product predates any release from AOOi. The code is under GPL3+ and has not been touched on GitHub for 11 months. It is a front end to JOpenDocument (LGPL3+ since February, 2012). I wonder, in a case like this, whether there is more downside than upside to being fussy about Android's first OpenOffice and LibreOffice Document Reader! View your documents created using OpenOffice or LibreOffice on the go. It may be that this is more of an ODF Document Reader than an OpenOffice Document Reader. My sense is that the intention to support documents created by OpenOffice or LibreOffice is well-stated. It appears that the popular view of OpenOffice doesn't depend on awareness of ODF and it is all about product interoperability/compatibility. I don't see any evidence of passing off as work of the OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice, or Apache OpenOffice projects. - Dennis -Original Message- From: acolor...@gmail.com [mailto:acolor...@gmail.com] On Behalf Of Alexandro Colorado Sent: Wednesday, July 04, 2012 11:10 To: ooo-dev@incubator.apache.org Subject: Re: Google Play [A]OO This app have been reported in the past as well as odfweb. Quick Mail is the analog of Quick Commit but for anonymous users- it is enabled by default and makes submitting patches to the mailing list much easier to execute. The mailout will contain a url for committers to use that permits a committer to clone the working copy of the anonymous user, so all you'd need to do is review the change in the CMS and commit it. Would be nice if Rob or someone created a video tutorial for this that's geared toward anon users and showed off these new features. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fvg1pfHLhE Hi Rob -- I couldn't read this one as clearly as your first. You used some sort of zoom mechanism on the first one I think, and also there seemed to be some text annotations on the first one with actual bookmarlet URL that this one doesn't have. I'm still learning the tool (Camtasia) It looks like if you do the original recording at a higher resolution than the output resolution then you can tell it to automatically zoom in to area where your mouse is. But in this case my recording resolution is the same as the output resolution, so no zooming is possible. But I can add text annotations, arrows, etc. -Rob Text annotations would help I think. This video is really quite a different experience for me than your first -- I can't say why. I enjoyed your humorous account of searching for CMS in wikipedia by the way. That Certificate in Master Safecracking might bear some research! :) Here is the amazing coincidence. I recorded that video back on June 24th. The joke about the CMS abbreviations was just random, based on what Wikipedia showed. One of them I showed in the tutorial was CMS == Compact Muon Solenoid. Well, what happened a week later? The CMS, part of CERN, announces that they think they've found the Higgs Boson, the long sought particle. But wait, there's more! Look at the CMS press releases here: http://cms.web.cern.ch/org/cms-presentations-public All the the press release translations are in PDF or DOC or DOCX format, except from the one in Finnish, which is in OpenOffice format (well, really ODF). And we're adding Finnish translation in our next release. So very strange, improbable coincidences. Or did Joe cause the Higgs Boson to be created by adding anonymous support to the Apache CMS? Hmmm... -Rob Thanks for shedding more light on this at any rate. I know folks will appreciate these. So good information, but difficult to see.
