Re: [osol-discuss] Opensolaris HCL seems to have vanished
Glad it's back up quickly, R.G. Thanks for letting me know. It was good work by the production staff of Oracle.com. Teresa London, to be specific. The HCL has nightly builds so that data that gets added to the workspace gets automatically synched up and published the following morning. This was set up by Robert Weeks before he left Sun so that the HCL could continue to remain updated even without the resources to manage it. (Robert created the HCL interface and back-end tools to manage) it. Unfortunately, some bad data made it into the workspace and broke the links. Teresa backed it out and is trying to muster up resources to investigate. The biggest challenge we face is keeping our legacy sites like BigAdmin, SDN, and OpenSolaris.com alive while spending 110% of our time working on migrating their content to the Oracle Technology Network. If things aren't running as smoothly as we'd like on the legacy sites (and they aren't), it's not because we're abandoning them. It's because we're working feverishly to save that content and make it available to you on OTN. Rick R.G. Keen wrote: Good work - or luck, which I'll take. It's working again now. Re: [osol-discuss] Opensolaris HCL seems to have vanished
Hi Svein, Yes, if you encounter any specific problems with our developer or sysadmin legacy websites, please let us know. BigAdmin and the SDN sites will remain live until the content has been moved to the Oracle Technology Network. That should happen sometime this summer. The Oracle Technology Network (http://www.oracle.com/technology) is a huge community (10 million members and counting) that provides content and resources for developers and admins of the products in the Oracle stack. If a distribution of OpenSolaris is offered as a product by Oracle, then it's likely that the Oracle Technology Network will provide content and resources for it, just as www.opensolaris.com did for Sun's distribution. Watch out there Rick. This statement has FUD producer written all over it. While the next release is still pending I would try to watch out and try not to use if and OpenSolaris in the same sentence. Is this simply web page maintenance, or is it a closed door? Wow, it was there this morning. I just went and looked at http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/ ... all those links go to the web grave yard. Very odd. Dennis ___ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
