Re: [osol-help] Booting LiveCD 2008.05 stops with: Console login service(s) cannot run
This mean...I have to wait until that bug is fix? Oh no I really hope there is solution now. There are several solutions: - Connect and use a P-ATA optical device - Connect and use an USB 2.0 optical device - If the BIOS has such an option: Use a S-ATA optical device and configure the BIOS so that it configures the S-ATA controller as a legacy IDE controller This message posted from opensolaris.org ___ opensolaris-help mailing list opensolaris-help@opensolaris.org

Can you boot in verbose mode and report where does it stop ? On grub menu press e twice. Then add -v to the end, then press enter and then b. It should show a verbose log of what it's doing. Please report anything suspicious. This message posted from opensolaris.org ___ opensolaris-help mailing list opensolaris-help@opensolaris.org

Re: [osol-help] Booting LiveCD 2008.05 stops with: Console login service(s) cannot run
Hi, I'm trying to boot from the LiveCD 2008.05 a brand new machine, but the boot process stops with the following message: Console login service(s) cannot run I read the mentioned README, but there is no svcs or svcadm command available. I also found a thread concerning this matter, but I haven't installed anything right now, just booted. Now I'm stuck. Can anybody give me a clue? Thanks for your attention. CPU: AMD Athlon X2 4850e MB: Asus M2N-SLI Ram: 4GB What kind of optical device are you using? Is that perhaps a SATA optical device? Or a PATA device? In case it is a SATA device: Solaris' nv_sata driver has no support for atapi (optical) SATA devices. This is Bug ID 6595488 Synopsis nv_sata: add support for ATAPI devices http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6595488 This message posted from opensolaris.org ___ opensolaris-help mailing list opensolaris-help@opensolaris.org
