What happens now? The changes have been submitted by a U.S. person.
Is it verboten to put them in? Or do they have to be provably
independently discovered? Hmm... a denial of service attack against
 open source.

I really hope this is a joke.

If you honestly feel that you cannot accept feedback from
U.S. Citizens on this open source project then you better protect
yourself by preventing U.S. addresses from submitting e-mail to the
mailing list.

I "almost" understand the ban on automated submissions to the cvs
sources. But this is just going to far. We still have something
called free speech in the U.S.

Correction to asn1.h

1999-02-11 Thread Erwann ABALEA

Hi,

I'm new to the list, but I have used SSLeay for 4 or 5 months from now.

I submitted a correction to Eric Young, but it seems it has not been
reported to OpenSSL 0.9.1c:

in asn1.h, line 284, change ocurrence of PRINTABLESTRING_STRING to
PRINTABLESTRING

No we don't Jeff. The case that determined that the export
regulations (including the technical assistance provision which
prohibits you from posting what you just did) are unconstitutional is
on appeal and the ruling has been stayed pending appeal. Therefore,
until that case (or another one) gets through the courts and the law
is struck down for 1st amendment grounds, we do *NOT* have free speech
in the U.S.

Jeff has stated on the mailing list that he's a U.S. citizen.
 What happens now?

It's not cryptographic software, nor crypto with a hole. I say don't
bother worrying. Based on my experience. Sameer's experience says
otherwise.
