Well, it sounds like this issue only happens in Essex, and is no longer an issue in Folsom, so the bug will just be closed as invalid, as it is now fixed in the newer code... The Project Dashboard hides images with an AKI or AMI image type (as they're not launchable and generally shouldn't be edited by normal users). You can see those in the Admin Dashboard if you want to edit them. So my guess is that the kernel and ramdisk images are being hidden correctly and your ubuntu-11.10-server-amd64 and ubuntu-12.04-server-amd64 have the wrong image type set.
