This behaviour seems to be a bug in the rdesktop-svn provided, since we experience the same here sometimes: If the first login to a farm member of the 2008 R2 RD farm fails, the username ist displayed as DOMAIN\use instead of the originally provided DOMAIN\username And a logon fails because rdesktop tries to logon User use. The problem I am running into is that after I enter my credentials in the initial RDP screen, it only passes the first 3 characters of my username to the remote desktop, which is an XP virtual desktop. Hello Rob, the DNS does not work. If the server hasn't an internet connection, there are problems with name resolution. After long time with no DNS-response, the client has got a time-out and continues its boot sequence. Please configure a local DNS e.g. in your router or DHCP-server, this should solve the problem. Hi Alexander, Thanx for the reply, we have a Windows 2003 DNS server up and running. Normal pc's and laptops works correct and I can ping on name. Is there another possibility?
