Re: [openthinclient-user] change pc name

2013-11-28 Thread Thomas Bayard
Hi Alexander, Andreas,

I have found now a workaround, just changed the following entry in the file
wrapper.conf

wrapper.app.parameter.2=-b0.0.0.0

to

wrapper.app.parameter.2=-b127.0.0.1

So the update manager is working again, but after this change you can only
start the manager locally with http:\\127.0.0.1:8080 or
http:\\localhost:8080

So it seams that I have some DNS problems with my test environment, but I
not yet found the reason, because the pc name is correctly in our DNS server
and also nslookup is working.

Thank you for your input

Regards

Thomas

Hi Alexander,

Thank you for your reply, the manager is able to connect to the realm, is
just the package Management (Paketverwaltung) which does not working after
changing pc name.

For example, when I go to installed packages (Installierte Pakete) it shows
the error message can not display directory object: zero (Kann
Verzeichnisobjekt nicht anzeigen: null)

Hello Thomas,

please describe the problem more detailed.

Isn't the manager able to connect to the realm?

Or shows the branch in the realm something like can't init directory ?

Changing the hostname is usually no problem. But after you have changed the
hostname, you have to restart the openthinclient service and then restart
the openthinclient manager.

Did you restart it?

By the way: Please ensure that the DNS is working. Check if the new hostname
is correct set in your DNS, also the reverse (PTR) setting!

P.S.: The hint from Andreas is good - for data backup, you should anyway
periodically make a LDIF export.

Regards.

Hello,

maybe as a Workaround: Make a Backup of your Configuration

Open the OpenThinClient Manager and rightclick on Primary directory view
to select

*   Export LDIF

now choose a directory to store your backup

Uninstall the Manager an install it again. Then

It is also possible to import the backup again with

*   Import LDIF
