[Origami] Un Monde en Plis

2015-08-31 Thread Robert J. Lang
Folks who attended 6OSME in Tokyo might have noticed a film crew running
around waving cameras at people; they were shooting a documentary about
origami, which was destined to be aired on TV in France and Germany. Think
of it as "Between the Folds" with a Gallic flavor.

The French version has just aired, and an (official, I think) YouTube
version is already up:

A German-language version is still to come, I am told.

Anyhow, watch and enjoy (to the extent that you know French, of course).
Toot warning: I'm in it, starting at around 25:52.

Interesting to compare with BTF, of course. At the first chord, I thought,
"Oh, did they get Gil Talmi to score this one, too?" And a montage of
flickering drawn patterns under a baroque piano accompaniment seemed oddly
familiar. But there is much new stuff, some lovely cinematography, and some
well-deserved faces and their work: the Demaines, Tomohiro Tachi, Tomoko
Fuse, Kaori Kuribayashi-Shigetomi, Rob Wood from Harvard, and more.

Best regards,

Robert

ORIGAMI COLOMBIA 2015

We want to invite you to attend to the 19th international origami
convention, Origami Colombia 2015 in Cali, Colombia. Come with us and take
part of all the classes (formal and informal), workshops and lectures. Play
our convention games and take many prizes from the piñata.

Dates: November 13-16, 2015

We will offer you housing, meals, ground transportation and all the
friendship of the Colombian people. This convention is the oldest and one
of the most successful ones in the region and it gathers about 110+ folders
every year. We had had international attendees from USA, Israel, Germany,
Japan, Spain and eleven South American countries.

And, if you come, we want from you, during the convention, an exhibition of
your models, teach two or three workshops or classes and diagrams for the
convention book. Also, to write a report of your experiences during the
convention, just to encourage others to come.
One of the main things is that you can exchange and show models for people
of all origami levels.

We will wait for your answer (Please, e-mail me privately).
This invitation is doing with enough time to decide if you want to come.
If you cannot come, could you suggest me anyone else to send him/her an
invitation?

[Origami] "The Sharpest Fingers in Clayburn County"

2015-08-31 Thread Joseph Wu
An unlikely duel takes place in a bar between two tough looking guys. Honour,
love, and the bar tab are at stake in this origami showdown.

Thanks to my friends Glen Schroeder and Keli Manson for inviting me to be part
of this fun short film!
