RE: Deleting Minor Versions of Documents in Library

2008-12-15 Thread Uzma Naz

I was digging around for some answers on this and it looks like it's a manual
process - not good at all with at least 4GB worth of word documents to go
through.

Has anyone come across a tool or how best to tackle this or should I advise
that it will take a very long time to get the minors out of the system?

Hi guys, Is there a way to bulk delete minor versions of documents in a
document library? I know you can do it item by item, but looking for a faster
way to do this. Is it possible to use the STSADM tool? Many thanks

I think you can create a app and use SPListItemVersionCollection for each
list item and check for major and minor and delete them.

I have not tried this

Picture Library views

2008-12-15 Thread Nigel Hertz
Hey all,

I'm looking for a quick and easy way (yeah, right) to set the default
view of a Picture Library in MOSS to Filmstrip. From what I can tell,
there's no OOB way to do this.

I've tried adding a content editor to the page, with some javascript in
the source, however this had no effect. Does anyone have any ideas?

Jscript added was: (substituted i for 1 in tags)

scr1pt type=text/javascr1pt
SwitchViewStyle('filmstrip');
/scr1pt

Just a wild guess (I'm pretty tired, so maybe it's too wild). Have you
tried adding intranet.ceosyd.catholic.edu.au into the local intranet zone,
or verify that it is?

  Hi guys,

 Recently we've been experiencing a number of users receiving an
 authentication prompt from the relevant Office 2007 application after
 opening files from a document library.

 Clicking Cancel still allows them to Check-out, Edit and Check-in files.
 The only limitation is that the document information panel is unable to
 connect to the data source providing content to some columns.

 The most confounding part of all this is that these users exist in the same
 AD groups and have exactly the same permissions on the site(s) in question.

 Has anyone got any clue as to what could be causing this or how to overcome
 it?

RE: Programatically renaming the title column for a custom list

2008-12-15 Thread Paul Noone
Don't do it. Period. You'll run into all manner of hell down the track. This is
a reserved system column. Even if you rename it, the internal name will always
be title.

Someone (no names mentioned) tried this for one of our custom content types and
we were never the same again. The good news is that the change can be reverted
easily enough.

A better method might be to hide it and make it an optional field but I haven't
had any success with that either.

Subject: Programatically renaming the title column for a custom list

Hey,

I am creating a custom list programmatically in a Feature
Receiver. I have been able to add new columns, modify the default view etc.
However I have not been able to rename the title column. I have tried the
following without success:

list.Fields[Title].Title = myNewTitle; //Also tried changing the StaticName
Property
list.Fields[0].Title = myNewTitle;

SPField myField = list.Fields[Title];
myField.Title = myNewTitle;

This is the code I currently have:

SPListTemplate listTemplate = web.ListTemplates[Custom List];
newListGuid = web.Lists.Add(listName, description, listTemplate);
SPList list = web.Lists[newListGuid];
string strFieldasXML = GetCreateFieldAsXml(Guid.NewGuid(), Image, false,
TADBrowseField, TADBrowseField);
list.Fields.AddFieldAsXml(strFieldasXML);
list.Update();
SPView defaultView = list.Views[All Items];
defaultView.ViewFields.Add(myField);
defaultView.Update();

Kind regards,
Haris Siakallis
