SharePoint 2007 Menu Structure - Top Navigation

2012-02-08 Thread drew . hart
Hi everyone

Just a quick question hopefully. Do you know if the menu structure (top
navigation) in SharePoint 2007 is held in a different database to the
standard WSS_content database?

I've just has a technician do a restore of the content database into our
dev environment and while the content itself is correct the top navigation
has not changed to the new structure.

Cheers

Drew

Thanks Roger Mike

No server side styling. I'll look into the cache as well and probably do
a restore to my test system as I think they must have not followed the
documentation correctly.

Thanks Drew

Does sounds like dreaded customisation not using the standard navigation
providers.

If that's not the case, just check the navigation and control aren't
cached.

Yeah ? it could be that you implemented some custom menu solution, that
was stored in the file system. The navigation menu should be part of the
site properties, which, in my understanding resides in the content DB.

I've just realised that the reason I wasn't seeing all the AD values as I

Hi Paul

Thanks for the process - I've been able to do that for mapped attributes
but not for unmapped ones such as the user description attribute as it is
not listed.

Is it possible to expand step 7 in how to add existing AD attributes using
powershell to the drop down list as I need to do this for several of them?

Thanks in advance

If the attribute(s) are present you can just create a new property and map
to it.

1.Open CA and go to the management page of your user profile service
application.
2.Click on ?Manage User Properties?
3.Click on ?New Property?
4.Provide a ?Name? and the ?Display Name?.
5.Select the data type of the property. (This should match the data
type of the corresponding attribute in AD you want to map to.)
6.Select the synchronization connection from the ?Source Data
Connection? drop down.
7.Select your attribute from the ?Attribute? drop down. (If it?s not
there you can create the mapping using PowerShell.)
8.Select the direction of the attribute. (i.e. Import)
9.Click Add
10. Click OK.

Hi Guys/Gals

I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction or the
location of resources with on how to do the following...

In AD we use the description field to identify the team a staff member
belongs to. I'm wanting to add this as a custom property in the User
properties, but the description attribute is not available from the list
of attributes shown in the AD import source data connection. I also have
several others AD properties that need to be mapped which do not appear in
this list.

Is there a way to include additional or all AD attributes rather than the
default set that seem to be a reduced set.

In SP 2007 this is not an issue as they all appear as part of the
selection process.

Cheers

Slider in SP 2007

2010-12-08 Thread drew . hart
I'm a rather limited coder (or limited to what I can get and understand
from the web and from this forum.)

I have noticed that several sites (including on NBSP) are using sliders,
linked to content in SharePoint and was wondering is anyone knows where I
can go to get a tutorial on how to set on up for our news articles
automatically.

I'm currently using several Content Query web parts on our news page with
item styles to display the latest news in various categories. After
seeing the sliders on several sites I wanted see if I can learn more on
how to use this as an alternative. Ideally I'd like to set it up to
display a query result with styles for the last 4 news articles that have
been published or to identify metadata that identifies the article to be
in the slider. The key for me is to have it automated as the team who
generate the news don't want to edit code to provide links or images.

Any help on where to go to learn more or advice on how to achieve this
would be appreciated.

Cheers

Drew

Slideshows in the browser

Hi all

Does anyone know the reason why PowerPoint slideshows won?t show in the
web browser when clicking them from a document library?

All client machines are on Office 2007. When clicking on a hyperlink in a
browser (MOSS 2007 site) to a ppsx file it pops up with the normal ?open?
or ?save? box. If you click ?open? it opens the file in edit mode (as if
it was a pptx file)

On my machine (office 2010) it opens it correctly in slideshow mode.

I?ve changed the doc lib settings to ?open in web browser? and to ?open in
client app? and neither makes a difference, so I?m stumped at the moment.

Web Analytics / Stats for SharePoint

Hi guys,
We?re currently looking around for web analytics / web stats software for
our intranet and internet sites (both SharePoint 2007, of course), and I
was wondering what everyone else was using?
Looking at the archives of ozMOSS, Nintex Reporting was suggested at one
point (looks pretty, but sounds too expensive for us), as well as
something to do with using Google Analytics on the intranet ? does anyone
have more information on how that works, or alternatives?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Gantt chart views

2009-12-07 Thread drew . hart
Hi Nigel,

We've used Christophe's solutions successfully to add sliders and change
the layout to get a reduced view.

This might help,

Cheers

Drew

Gantt chart views

Hey all

Does anyone know if it?s possible to change the timescale used in Gantt
Chart views? It?s set by default as days, but we ideally would like to be
able to use it for weeks or months.

Nigel

Kind regards
