Program for putting Music and Other Things on Cassettes

2006-04-10 Thread Gary Wood
Hi all. A while back, someone mentioned about a program for putting contents
from cassettes onto the harddrive of a computer, and then maybe burning to
CD's. What is this program? And also, where can I get a good cassette to plug
into a computer? I had an am fm radio with a built-in cassette deck which I
was going to use, but I finally sold that one, because I hadn't been using it
lately.

Sad News About A List Member

2006-04-10 Thread Pam Drake
To anyone who knew him and/or followed his posts:

I received word early tonight that Ray Slayton,
[EMAIL PROTECTED], died suddenly and unexpectedly this morning
of an apparent heart attack.

I am not sure whether he was a member of blindtech or to what other
lists he belonged, but he was a frequent contributor to pc-audio.

Ray had been, according to family friends, the picture of health.

Though like so many of us he was a night owl, his wife was shocked to
find that around noon he had not yet awakened. She called 911 and
he was pronounced dead at his home.

I have no further details, but anyone who is interested in future
arrangements may write me off list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and I
will let you know as soon as I receive the info.

I have been in touch with Jonathan and wish to thank him for removing
Ray's address from any lists to which he may be subscribed.

Thank you; and please remember Ray in your thoughts and prayers, or

Re: Help Please with Audegy Card

2006-04-10 Thread Brian Olesen
Hi Richard,
Your driver settings may be corrupted so you can't choose to select the advance
option.

The only solution I know to this is to create a new windows xp user and move
all your old documents and so on, on to that one.

If you have skype you're welcome to contact me for some instructions.

Best regards

 Hi,

I am writing again to ask for your help. If you read on below, you will get
some more information about my particular situation. Anyway, I have this
audegy card with 4 jacks. I can't see to get at the bass/trebble settings
 in control panel/volume/advanced/properties. I have the sound-blaster
audegy software/drivers installed. Firstly, does anyone know the brand of
audegy I have with 4 jacks? Second, how do I get access to the
bass/treabble settings? Finally, is there any way of getting the front
panel jacks working with the audegy card? Thanks.

 Hi,

I just installed an audio audegy sound card and have some questions about
configuring it. When I was using my previous sound blaster, I could have
 it
play through two sets of speakers, one out of the speakers jack and the
other out of auxiliary I think. With this card, there are 4 jacks from
 what
I can tell; two would be for speakers. I can only get sound out of one
jack. How can I get both speaker jacks working?

I have jacks on my front panel as well. Does this type of card support
 front panel playing?

As well, under the advanced settings of my playback options, I used to be
able to adjust bass and treble with the blaster. How come I can't get at
that now? The only choice I have is play only digital ... or something
 like that.

Finally, what speaker setting should I set for audegy cards. I notice
quad, 5.1 7.1 etc. Which is appropriate? Thanks in advance,

 Richard

Brian, Thanks for the reply. I can get into the advanced option dialogue
box but not the choice of trebble/bass within it. I'm beginning to think
that perhaps this card is on the cheapper side of things and won't allow me
the ability to change those settings. It could be as well a conflict with
the sound blaster software and drivers which are also installed. I don't
know if it is a corrupted driver though but I wonder if the windows xp

Hi,
What you must do is you have to select the advance box under options.
Then in the play back and record dialog you get an advance bottun you can

I wonder if the software you are testing turns off the sounds
so they won't go out over the air?

You can turn them back on by going to control panel, sounds

an urgen Nero 6 question

2006-04-10 Thread Tracey Kier
Hi all, and sorry for cross-posting this question, but I need an answer
somewhat urgently as I need to burn several CD copies of an audio file in
the next 24 hours or so.

I have Nero 6 on my system, it's installed but I have never used it. The
file I need to copy is currently in mp3 format and needs to be converted to
wav. I know that in Easy CD Creator, if you select audio CD as the format,
then the file is automatically converted to wav, but don't know if this is
the case with Nero.

Could someone who is familiar with the program please give me some
instructions as to how to burn this file onto a CD as a wav file? I simply
have no idea where to start, as I haven't used any CD burning software in
several years, so am completely in the dark on this one.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Tracey.

Easy CD Creator 6 question

2006-04-10 Thread Tracey Kier
Hi again folks, and I'm really sorry for bombarding the lists with
questions, but need some answers fast if I can get them.

OK, I've already asked about Nero, which I have on my system here, but we've
also been trying to copy the same file using the copy of Easy CD Creator 6
that my fiance has on his computer. Unfortunately, the CD drive in the
machine has developed a problem, so we've connected an external drive, which
shows up fine in Windows Explorer, My Computer, etc. However, we can't find
a way within Easy CD Creator to change the destination drive, and consulting
the help file doesn't work as it refers to clicking on icons, etc. Anyone
have any idea how this can be done using JFW v7.0? Again, sorry for the
questions, but if we could just get one of these software packages to work
it would solve the immediate problem *smile*.

Thanks again. Tracey.

Subject: an urgen Nero 6 question

Hi all, and sorry for cross-posting this question, but I need an answer
somewhat urgently as I need to burn several CD copies of an audio file in
the next 24 hours or so.

I have Nero 6 on my system, it's installed but I have never used it. The
file I need to copy is currently in mp3 format and needs to be converted
 to

 Tracey.

RE: Easy CD Creator 6 question

2006-04-10 Thread Ford Blackwell
Tracy,

The burner should appear in a combo style list probably after your
default burner. Clicking on the drive and doing an alt+down arrow
should give you access to it. If that does not work, it is possible
that your external drive is not supported by Easy CD Creater 6. You
could go to the Roxio support page and see if there is an update, but as
they are up to an inaccessible version 7 and now 8, it seems unlikely
that they will have added support for drives in version 6.

Good luck.

Subject: Easy CD Creator 6 question

Hi again folks, and I'm really sorry for bombarding the lists with
questions, but need some answers fast if I can get them.

OK, I've already asked about Nero, which I have on my system here, but
we've also been trying to copy the same file using the copy of Easy CD
Creator 6 that my fiance has on his computer. Unfortunately, the CD
drive in the machine has developed a problem, so we've connected an
external drive, which shows up fine in Windows Explorer, My Computer,
etc. However, we can't find a way within Easy CD Creator to change the
destination drive, and consulting the help file doesn't work as it
refers to clicking on icons, etc. Anyone have any idea how this can be
done using JFW v7.0? Again, sorry for the questions, but if we could
just get one of these software packages to work it would solve the
immediate problem *smile*.

Thanks again. Tracey.

 Lary, check out

 http://www.redchairsoftware.com

You can buy a wonderful program called Anapod Explorer. It provides a
windows explorer type of interface to transfer your tunes to your
iPod, which is *much* more accessible and easy than iTunes! To me it
is the only way to go. Unfortunately, iTunes must be present on your
system for everything to worrk, so make sure that you do not uninstall
 iTunes!
You can buy 2 versions of the Anapod software. One for all iPods
which costs $30, and one for $20 which is just for the shuffle.

Trust me! This is way way way better than iTunes!

At 10:11 AM 4/7/2006, you wrote:
Doc, I understand your frustration. These things are great once you get

help.
As I recall, once you get to the point where you're moving music from the
iTunes library to the iPod shuffle, you can choose the tracks yourself.
But
first you have to get the library and the shuffle to communicate. And I
know
of no way to use something other than iTunes for the transfer of your
music.
If someone out there can prove me wrong on that score, I'd be grateful.

Sorry, not exactly a positive post. Quite honestly, I use the iPod shuffle
because I got it for free. Still, it does sound great, and the buttons on
the device itself are quite easy to identify and use.

lot of the hydrogen audio forums posts about it, but i can't make sense out of
the contradictory, not to mention 6 month old posts. so here are my questions.
1. is there a player on the pocket pc that is accessible, either with mobile
speak pocket or various screen readers, or preferably with pocket jaws and the
pac mate?
2. out of the many formats, with and without various stereo features and
spacial things, which is the best route to go for re-encoding files from
various mp3 bitrates to aac+ for play on a pocket pc?
3. are there free encoders for whatever format that can be used with gold wave
or CDex?
thanks for any responses

I have jacks on my front panel as well. Does this type of card

 front panel playing?

As well, under the advanced settings of my playback options, I used to
 be
able to adjust bass and treble with the blaster. How come I can't get
 at
that now? The only choice I have is play only digital ... or
 something
 like that.

Finally, what speaker setting should I set for audegy cards. I notice
quad, 5.1 7.1 etc. Which is appropriate? Thanks in advance,

 Richard

M-Audio (Midiman) makes two versions of the Audiophile 2496, one firewire

I know Creative makes USB cards too but wouldn't suggest them as much of
