RE: Sam Encoders VS Shoutcast Plug-In

2006-08-27 Thread David Truong
HI,

Audio pipeline means that Sam will take the audio data straight from the
particular program you are using to stream your audio. So if it is winamp
then Sam will take the data straight from winamp itself. If it is ots DJ
then Sam will take the audio data from that program. Let me put it another
way, if you had winamp set to use the null output plugin and you had Sam
configured to use the audio pipeline, sam would still stream the data out to
the shoutcast server even if you didn't have a sound card installed. Sure
you wouldn't hear any audio on your pc but you would hear the audio on
another computer if you logged onto the server you are streaming to and
assuming that other computer has an actual sound card installed smile.

If you have Sam configured to sound card then guess what, Sam will take the
audio data from whatever sound card you choose. In other words, Sam will
broadcast whatever audio you input into your sound card. It is all pretty
straight forward really!

hi. Well, you don't play pls files unless you've built a playlist
previously and are using that. Really, all a playlist is, is just a
text document that references the songs. Let's try one more
thing. Open the sam encoders, and then right clik like you did
before. Now, arrow down to where it says, sound card sub
menu. There is a setting in there that says audio pipeline. if
you're going to be doing live broadcasts, with both announcements
from your microphone and music, you'll want to point the plugin to
 the particular card you're using.

Also, it matters how you give the link to your station to
friends. Remember, you'll need to give your friend some kind of
internet address such as your IP address, or better yet, sign up with
one of the free domain hosting sites like http://www.no-ip.com and
get yourself a free domain so that you can give that address to your
friend. So for example, you could get an address such as:

 http://rock.audio-stream.net
You're on port 8000 most likely, so the address you would give to
 your friends would be
 http://rock.audio-stream.net:8000
notice the colon followed by 8000 at the end.
Now if you do all this and the Sam Encoders still don't work,
remember Spacial Audio does provide tech support for its products, so
don't hesitate to go to them for help if you need it. For that
amount of money I would hope the tech support is somewhat decent. I
never used it so I can't say.

Yet, when I fired up my shoutcast plug-in, the station works like a
top. Maybe this is a problem. I have my MP3, M3u and PLS files
played through Real Player. Could this be a problem, as whenever I

Could I be setting something up wrong. Everything sounds the same.

RE: Sam Encoders VS Shoutcast Plug-In

2006-08-27 Thread David Truong
HI Chris,

This is not strictly true. If the program in question can get mic input
directed to go through the program's audio pipeline then you can have music
and voice breaks using a mic being streamed through the sam Audio pipeline.
Remember I said in my previous message that Sam's audio pipeline takes the
audio data from the actual program you are streaming from. So if the actual
program you are streaming from such as Winamp or Ots DJ is able to have
voice breaks from a microphone or mixer along with music redirected through
Winamp or OTS DJ itself then Sam's audio pipeline will stream it to a
server. I have broadcasted with both Winamp and OTS DJ setups.

JAWS Scripts for Cakewalk SONAR LE

2006-08-27 Thread Mark Faben
Hi Everyone,

Just I hope a quick question. Now of course I've heard of the CakeTalking
Scripts for use with JAWS and the more 'professional', and expensive
versions of CAkewalk Sonar, but as an amature (and some would say very
amature) musition, I'm really not wanting nor needing to spend hundreds of
pounds on the all-powerful version of Cakewalk. Even the Sonar LE which I
have has features beyond which I'll ever use. I've been using Sonar LE with
JAWS 7 for a while now, and whilst I can achieve most things, I think that
some of the features are unable to be accessed by JAWS with just the basic
default JAWS scripts. So does anyone know of any scripts that will work with
JAWS 7 under XP pro SP 2 with Sonar LE? Or does anyone have experiance of
configureing JAWS with Sonar LE?

Thanks.

John! You do not have to keep the SFK files. If you do delete them
however it will take Sound Forge longer to open the corresponding audio
file. There is even a setting in Sound Forge to suppress the creation of
SFK files.

South Carolina; I'm in California; he could get the link, but only

Yet, when I fired up my shoutcast plug-in, the station works like a

played through Real Player. Could this be a problem, as whenever I
open up my web site, it is played through Real player. I am
broadcasting with winamp. I have the same thing with the shoutcast

Could I be setting something up wrong. Everything sounds the same.

Speaker volume problem

2006-08-27 Thread Morey Worthington
Hello all,
Using Win/XP, Jaws 7.1, and Sound Blaster Live.
Having a stereo balance problem.
In the play back settings the balance is set at 50 percent.
In the speaker settings, the setting is set at stereo desktop speakers.
I have gone through the test speaker utility, and it says all is working
properly.
Not really...
The sound comes out of right speaker very well, but not left. I have changed
the balance down to 30 percent on right and that seems to help a little, but
makes right speaker sound garbled.
Any thoughts on how to make sounds come out both speakers, in stereo, and at
the 50 percent levels?
Thanks,
Morey

Help! please

2006-08-27 Thread Walter Ramage
Hello all.

Is there a knowledgeable person out there who could help me with a keystroke
by keystroke explanation of how to burn using Windows Media Player. I would
like to burn something from My Documents folder but am at a loss as how to
go about it. I have only just learned how to Rip with Windows Media and
need to know how to burn with it, so I can do it myself and help a friend
who has only Windows media to burn with. I would be grateful for as much
detail as anyone can give me. Also, I would like to make a copy of a Daisy
disc but have no idea how this could be done as My PC won't play any of the
files even after I have copied them to my Documents. Reel player tries to
play the files but I only get about a 2 second burst before I am told that
Reel player needs to have an update to play the files and the little 2
second snippet keeps repeating. Any help with this would be appreciated
also. With many thanks. Walter Ramage.

RE: Sam Encoders VS Shoutcast Plug-In

2006-08-27 Thread David Truong
Hi,

It depends what program you are asking about. With Winamp, you have to have
two instances running to be able to get both music and the mic redirected
through Winamp and then to Sam Audio Pipeline. The advantage with this
approach is that you can get the various dsp plugins to insure that your mic
gets included when these plugins do their compression etc.

Re: Adobe audition

2006-08-27 Thread Hayden Smith
Hi there,

Just a conflicting point of view Adobe Audition is a multi-track program
annd it does sort of have a 70% functionality with JFW. A question that I
will also answer here in regards to: Why not sound forge or gold wave?
Well, Gold Wave is a good program in itself however it does not have very
good effects as post-production goes. Sound forge is another step up but
still doesn't offer the dynamic range that adobe audition offers in reverb,
chorus, flange, phase, etc.

 Hello all,
Using Win/XP, Jaws 7.1, and Sound Blaster Live.
I have
 changed
the balance down to 30 percent on right and that seems to help a little,
 but
 makes right speaker sound garbled.
Any thoughts on how to make sounds come out both speakers, in stereo, and
 at
 the 50 percent levels?
 Thanks,
 Morey

I use Adobe Audition all the time. For comprehensiveness and the fact it
does multitrack there's nothing to beat it. It's effects are solid and it
works reliably. Selection is fairly easily done bu could be easier, and an
audio scrub would be great but again for what it does it's the best.

There is also a Contour shuttle pro which can be linked to it - it's an
external device whose buttons and jog can be linked to Audition keypresses.

If I can put my few cents in regarding Audition, It works well with the
 jfw
scripts in the multi-track work. However I find the editing to be a bit
 of
a kluge from the keyboard compared to SoundForge. I would like to hear
other Audition users comments on this one.

Re: Speaker volume problem

2006-08-27 Thread Morey Worthington
Hi Brandon and Kathy,
As per your recommendations, I have changed the speakers from the front, to
the back, and also have checked the jack as Kathy recommended.
My system only has 1 jack for installing into computer. The volume control
is on one of the speakers, not in the computer.
Maybe the speaker with the volume control is drawing the juice to other
speaker.
Thanks,
Will keep looking.

Re: Adobe audition

2006-08-27 Thread Chuck Adkins
True, no debate here, but I was only speeking of accessibility with the
keyboard. For what I do, Goldwave and Sound Forge do all I need, but theres
no question Adobe Audition may win hands down with effects and of course
with multi-track capabilities. For my voicework again though, Sound Forge
does all I need. Again, I was only talking about work with the keyboard and
was in NO WAY trying to compare the three programs.

Sound forge is another step up but
still doesn't offer the dynamic range that adobe audition offers in
 reverb,
 chorus, flange, phase, etc.

 Cheers

 Hey guys,
 I've never used adobe audition.
Can someone explain it, is it a multitrack program?
Does it work well with jfw?

 Thanks,

Got Sam Encoders Figured Out

2006-08-27 Thread Jardata Mail Services
Hello List!

Well, after doing a few uninstalls and reinstalls, I got the Sam Encoders
figured out. Maybe it is my system (Windows Media Edition) and Version of
JAWS, but the only thing I had to do is check Pipeline instead of Sound Card.
Also, my MP3 files are played in Real Player and they still play on my
station. Also all of the features (Start, Stop, Start All, and Stop All) work.
Now that I got that figured out, I can use either Shoutcast Plug-in or Sam
Encoders. Now I must go on to talking on air. Hopefully that won't be as big
a deal as this one seemed to be.

One final thing, I still cannot figure out why software producers have to make
their product so unaccessible sometimes. For example, for what it does, the
Sam Encoder could be just as accessible as the Shoutcast Plug-in.

Thanks again for your help. It really helps to have so many willing and
helpful people out there whenever we newcomers to the field need help.

Re: Jaws and Pandora.com

2006-08-27 Thread Brent Harding
You can listen on Bluebeat.com. I haven't used them in awhile, but the last
time I did on 98, it required setting some other sound driver as default
that got sort of choppy at times. I sort of end up having an odd setup
anyways because my default recording is through my USB headset and playback
is normally through the sound card unless I switch that. I don't know if
Bluebeat would cope with that, but installing extra sound drivers is always
scary.

 Hi,

I've been assisted by the Pandora tech support folks in getting registered
with the site. If you don't ask, they may not offer to help, but if you
inquire, they will ask you to email the important info to them. Once you
have been registered, you should be able to both log in, and choose
different songs/artists to listen to. The keystrokes for their media
 player
don't seem to work, even with a screen reader turned off, but perhaps I'm
missing another step which would enable the use of these keys.

 Good luck,
 Scott

I wrote to them and they acknowledged that registration is likely
impossible, and I agree. I haven't gotten help getting over that
hurdle, but they seem to believe, and the existing keyboard shortcuts
give cause for cautious optimism, that the system is usable once you
 register.

I'm wondering if any of you have been able to successfully register

would be willing to get sighted help to register if I could be
reasonably certain that I could use the service with Jaws. Any help
with this matter would be much appreciated.

Thanks much, and have a fantastic day.
