NewspaperDirect Launches Newspaper Radio
Business Wire
Tuesday, September 19, 2006
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19,
2006--NewspaperDirect, Inc.:

-- Listen to articles from hundreds of newspapers and magazines anywhere,
anytime

-- On-demand user controlled radio lets listeners choose the stories that
interest them

PressDisplay.com by NewspaperDirect, Inc. today has launched Newspaper
Radio, a unique service that allows people to listen to newspapers and
magazines
on either their computers or mobile smart phones.

Hundreds of newspapers and magazines are available on
www.PressDisplay.com
for online viewing, offline downloading and now, for
listening.

Imagine being able to listen to your favorite newspapers where ever and
whenever you decide. It's like having USA Today Radio or the Daily Mail
Radio available
24 hours a day in the palm of your hand. says Alexander Kroogman,
NewspaperDirect CEO. And unlike traditional radio news, listeners can
easily jump to
stories that interest them. This is a truly on-demand, user-controlled,
radio.

Newspaper Radio offers commuters, business travelers, expatriates and the
visually impaired access to news that has previously been unavailable to
them.
It is simply a matter of copying their favorite newspapers' URLs from the
PressDisplay.com website and pasting them into Microsoft Windows Media
Player.
Once stored in Window's Media Player, listeners can tune-in to the latest
edition of their newspaper or magazine at any time.

About NewspaperDirect, Inc.

goldwave Tutorials

2006-12-06 Thread Adrian Spratt
I intended to listen to Rick harmon's Goldwave tutorials on BlindCoolTech,
but part 1 isn't listed there. I just tried to email Rick based on an email
address he included with a message he sent to this list, but the message has
bounced back to me.

Does anyone have suggestions for how I can locate part 1? Are there any
other goldwave tutorials I should consider?

My objective is this. I want to copy commercial CD books and play them back
at faster speeds. I am a complete novice at PC recording.

Thanks.

Re: goldwave Tutorials

2006-12-06 Thread Chris Gilland
Adrian,

Our company is in the process of going in the studio and recording a
Goldwave Tutorial for version 5.17. I will let you know once it is
available, at which point if you would like to order it, we'd be happy to
ship you out a copy. In the ming time, however, there, is a tutorial that
was done by Start Button from For-the-people. I'm not exactly certained
where to get it, I used to have it, but lost it in a recent hard disk
format. Anyway, I will hold on to your name and address, and let you know
once the tutorial is finnished.

Chris.

I intended to listen to Rick harmon's Goldwave tutorials on BlindCoolTech,
but part 1 isn't listed there. I just tried to email Rick based on an
 email
address he included with a message he sent to this list, but the message
 has
 bounced back to me.

Does anyone have suggestions for how I can locate part 1? Are there any
other goldwave tutorials I should consider?

My objective is this. I want to copy commercial CD books and play them
 back
at faster speeds. I am a complete novice at PC recording.

 Thanks.

I wondered that myself actually, I don't know. Grifin Technology make
the Imic so check with them I guess.
I also neglected to mention that as this device doesn't require
drivers on a PC or a Mac then its damn useful to use if you're on the
road installing Windows on different computers as Windows just finds
the Imic and uses it so you can get Narrator up and running to
complete the Windows Install if you need to.

 Hi all!
I'm a user of 2 very different computer systems here, I use standard
PC'S with Windows and LINUX and I use my trusty Mac so when I heard
about a small sound device that could be plugged into all my machines
without any need for drivers I was most interested hence the arrival
 of my Imic today.
I felt cheated there for a while when i received the box, something
as small as this promising me good audio quality? My missgivings
increased upon the opening of the box to discover that the Imic is
about 1 and a half inches round, it looks almost comical, like one of
those toys we used to play with as kids, like an oversized watch or a
standard sized lollypop but the outside looks I can assure you having
tested this little beauty are truly deceptive.
The Imic plugs into a USB 2.0 port of your computer and as I've
already stated, whether you're a fan of your Mac or of your PC makes
no difference whatsoever, just plug the Imic in and you have another
sound device, great for those laptop systems that don't have a full
 sound device built-in.
The layout of the Imic is extremely simple, just 2 3.5MM minijack
stereo sockets and 1 switch. One socket is for line-out whilst the
other is for line-in/stereo microphone, the switch toggles the line-
in socket between microphone and line-in.
So how does it perform? just as good as any other sound card or
device as I said earlier, I'm amazed.
How do you know its connected? With the Mac you see it available as
an audio input/output device. In Windows, you'll see it in the list
of audio devices under the audio tab in Sound.
How much is an Imic? An absolute steal at $50.00 Australia, that's
 what I paid for mine.
A CD ROM comes with the Imic but as yet I haven't examined its
contents, I've had no need to.

Total Recorder Version 6.1 is now Available

2006-12-06 Thread Steve Pattison
Total Recorder version 6.1 is now available from
www.highcriteria.com. Here is some information about this new
version. -Steve.

High Criteria Announces Total Recorder V6.1

High Criteria Inc. Announces the Immediate Availability of Total
Recorder Professional
Edition, Total Recorder Standard Edition and Total Recorder Developer
Edition, Versions
6.1.

December 6, 2006, Toronto, Canada

High Criteria Inc, a world leader in computer audio recording
systems, today announced
the immediate availability of new versions of its flagship product,
Total Recorder.
The Standard Edition, Professional Edition and the Developer Edition
have all been
upgraded to Version 6.1 and a new Video AddOn is now available for
Professional and
Developer Edition users.

In addition to other standard maintenance, Total Recorder V6.1
Standard Edition offers
a number of new features including:

Total Recorder now supports playlists in M3U, PLS and WPL format.
Please see Using
playlists tutorial for more information on this new feature.

A scheduled job can be started while your computer is in standby or
hibernate mode.

In addition to maintenance and the new features added to Standard
Edition, Version
6.1 of the Professional and Developer Editions includes the following changes:

The new Video Add-on allows you to play, record, and edit video files
in AVI format. You can record from
a video device plugged into your computer, such as a camera, or you
can capture video
from your screen. You also can schedule a recording from your
favourite video services
and websites.

Total Recorder can execute a command line after a file has been
recorded or after
a recording session has completed. This feature is available when
recording in split
mode and for a scheduling recording.

In addition to the ability to shut down your computer when an
automatic job completes,
you can now have your computer put in standby or hibernate mode.

Ability to save a stereo file as a mono file with channel mixing.
This can be used,
for example, to save the left and right channels of a stereo file to
separate mono
files.

Total Recorder can merge multiple files into a single file. A period
of silence can
be inserted between the files or a fading effect can be applied to
the files during
a merge.

You can use batch processing to split a number of files.

You can select whether you want a file permanently deleted or moved
to the Recycle
Bin when you delete the file.

A number of other maintenance enhancements

In addition to maintenance and the new features added to Professional
Edition, Version
6.1 of the Developer Editions includes the following features:

You can obtain the source code for the symbolic language (similar to
Visual Basic)
that corresponds to the interface operations you performed during
your current Total
Recorder session. The code can be appended with other useful
information you can
use to write applications to control Total Recorder. This feature can
greatly facilitate
writing your own code to control Total Recorder Developer Edition
through COM technology.
