2007-04-11 Thread Marijan Janev
OK, Anders, I understand, but can't you switch from swedish keyboar to
American during your work in GW? I also use Macedonian Keyboard but every
time I open the GW I switch the keyboard from Macedonian to American
pressing alt+left shift. And all works as it should.
Good luck!

I am using a Swedish keyboard and i havnen't really found out if it is the

its the specific key for the american keyboard which tells it to set the
markers.
When i press the key for the markers and am using swedish keyboard one is
for the swedish letter å and one is for typin accents and such.
Are you understanding what i am talking about here?
Ist very hard to explain it in understandable englis.

Hi Larry!
As far as I remember you mentioned the two newer computers have WMP 11
installed; so do you think installing version 10 would work there? As many
people have problems with version 11 I guess with the previous version you
might be able to access it properly.

Let me pass along 2 additional tips:

Firefox can store both userid and password if you login with that
 browser.
If you are using the password manager Roboform and log in via your
 default
browser (in my instance, ie6), it too can remember all signon info.

We haven't heard back from those who could logon but not get sound.
Are you folks still having problems, or did you figure things out.
If the latter, tell us what resolved things for you.

Re: wmp 11 menu trouble

2007-04-11 Thread David Bailes
Hi,

The most common place you get a popup menu is when
you're focused on an object and you press the
application key to get a shortcut (context) menu. This
menu is a popup menu, it's not part of the main
window, and only appears when needed. Similarly, if
you use the new style main menus in wmp 11, there is
no permanent menu displayed, but it appears if you
press alt.

The outline of burning a cd in wmp 11:
1. press the burn button to move to the burn page.
This page has a similar layout to the library page,
except that the list pane contains the burn list
(which jaws reads as the basket list view!).
2. insert a blank cd.
3. To add items to the burn list: select items in the
primary list view, press the application key, and
choose add to burn list from the shortcut menu.
4. To burn the cd, press the start burn button at the
end of the list pane, or press alt + s.

David Bailes.

original message-
Hi,
What do you mean when you say popup menu? I also have
the menubar problem,
but intermittently. For the most part, I can
navigate using WMP 11 the same as version 10.
Howeever, I've yet to figure out how to select tracks
for ripping - I just
cut and paste them from My Music Folders onto the cd
drive and select burn
to CD option and usually no problems from that point
on.
I did for awhile have the same problem with CDs
stopping 2/3 through the
burn process, but I've since cleaned the lense via a
disc with tiny brush to
wipe over the lense as well as blowing out my entire
unit...

Re: winamp

2007-04-11 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Doc,

I've never actually used multiple instances of Winamp. So I'm talking
theoretically here. But, if you check that check box, I believe you should be
able to run two entirely separate instances of Winamp, in separate windows.
From what you say below, it sounds as if you played one file, and then tried to
play a second, in the SAME instance of winamp. You would need to play each in
its own instance of Winamp, of course. Also, of course, your sound card would
need to be able to handle the multiple outputs, simultaneously.

If you've done all this and it still doesn't work for you, sorry, but you've
exceeded my competency.

Good luck.

Fwd: Sound Forge 9, and Window-Eyes

2007-04-11 Thread Steve Pattison

To: Window-Eyes discussion list [EMAIL PROTECTED]
From: Curtis Delzer [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello all. SF9 and Window-Eyes get along about like sf8 does. SF9
though does not move to the right or left when you hit and hold down
the arrows right
and left, for some reason, and when you hit R to label the region as
in earlier versions, the dialogue which use to appear, does not
though the region
gets created. I use to use this function to see what is selected to
make sure the beginning and endings were set correctly. A parameter?
Perhaps? Window-Eyes
never did tell us the state of the check boxes for the general menu
when something was selected or not, so you must turn on the graphic
dictionary and label
the graphics after they're found, :) checked or not checked. I
could not get, then, Window-Eyes to speak the label with the
dedicated arrow keys, however,
I had to use the mouse cursor keys to determine what is labeled
what, and then it was problematic, sometimes it would speak the
label, and sometimes I
had to scroll the screen to determine whether or not is was labeled
checked or not checked.

Multi track recording, no, multi channel recording, yes in the new
sf9. I've not tried that yet, still trying to figure out the region
labeling tricks and
how to get window-eyes to speak the status of the controls whether
on or off, etc.

Re: winamp

2007-04-11 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Doc, Martina,

With the relevant check box checked, I WAS able to spawn two separate
instances of Winamp, and have them play separate files, simultaneously. But I
had to spawn the two instances by pressing my winamp shortcut twice. The ctrl-n
technique that Martina mentioned doesn't seem to work for me, unless I'm
misunderstanding something.

Listening to Phantom of the Opera and Phil Ochs simultaneously is rather hard
on the ear. grin But it DOES work.

Hi Martina. An excellent idea. I gave it a try and unfortunately there's
still silence from Gameday Audio, but I really appreciate your suggestion.

 Hi Larry!
As far as I remember you mentioned the two newer computers have WMP 11
installed; so do you think installing version 10 would work there? As many
people have problems with version 11 I guess with the previous version you
might be able to access it properly.

I still have 2 newer computers that won't recieve gameday audio and 2
older
ones that will. For the present, I'm calling it good.

BTW the 2 that will not run Gameday Audio respond that way whether it's
accessed with or without screen reader assistance. It sure has me
 confused.

Yes. I completely removed Sound Forge 7 and all associated items (CD
 Arch,
preset manager, and Noise Reduction 2.0D) before installing 9.0A. It did
install it and the options are the same as though in the 2.0D version but
they are invoked under the Tools menu as well as the DX Favorites menu
 (like
you used to have to do).

You don't have to do this, but I didn't want mmultiple versions on my
 system.

Re: A.M. radio

2007-04-11 Thread Keith Gillard
Hi,

The best thing to do is to navigate to the AM radio website and look for a
listen now link and press enter on it. Many stations will offer real time
listening or audio archives of their programming.
Some stations will offer streaming using windows media player, Real Audio
player or perhaps some other streaming utility that they have contracted to
use. Thus you may need to download and install that player if you don't all
ready have it installed.

They have. When you install SF9 it is installed after the main Sound

It is version 2.0E. It is invoked from the Tools menu of SF9.

Yes, Dean. They're one and the same. But, it is not a part of Sound
Forge unless version 9.0 has incorporated it. The Noise Reduction that's
built into Sound Forge is different and much more limited than Noise
 Reduction 2.0.

You mention the Cubs feed; here are a couple of things to keep in mind.
Some networks go silent between innings, for station breaks and the like.
The Cubs net is one of them.
Generally, with that net, you get the crowd microphone during those times
-- but this isn't always the case.
Also, if I were a wagering man, odds favor a postponement for this
afternoon's game given current Chicago weather conditions
-- light snow/rain with a temp of 37
and a winchill of 29.
There are, however, other games this afternoon including
the White Sox at Oakland that you can work with.

fixing Game Day Audio

2007-04-11 Thread Dean Martineau
since Larry has established that his Game Day Audio problems are
screen reader independent, assuming you haven't tried this, and I
haven't read every message here so you may have done so, I would call
their tech support. One poster dismissed this idea out of hand, and
indeed experiences can vary. However, I helped a blind friend last
year by conferencing with her and translating the mouse directions
the tech gave from his cheatsheet into keyboard instructions she
would know how to follow. She was getting no sound, and in the end,
she got sound. I don't remember what we did, but I wouldn't have
thought of it. And similarly she got other streaming before baseball
season, and afterwards she still did, but they were able to set it up
so that she received Game Day Audio.

Actually, it's

www.radio-locator.com

with a hyphen between radio and locator in the url.

Keep in mind that keeping track of streams is an ongoing work in progress.
Hence, if one doesn't find what they want in one search engine, try
another.

Another good resource for locating US stations is this link:

http://streamingradioguide.com/radio-station-list-by-state.php?state=

When you launch this link, you will be prompted to fill in the 2-letter
state code for the state you are interested in ie;
il = Illinois; fl = Florida, etc.

I have found this resource a good one for checking if a station streams.

Doc, Martina,

With the relevant check box checked, I WAS able to spawn two separate
instances of Winamp, and have them play separate files, simultaneously. But
I had to spawn the two instances by pressing my winamp shortcut twice. The
ctrl-n technique that Martina mentioned doesn't seem to work for me, unless
I'm misunderstanding something.

Listening to Phantom of the Opera and Phil Ochs simultaneously is rather
hard on the ear. grin But it DOES work.

 Hi Anders!
I know what you mean with those signs on the keyboard; I don't have
 brackets
as default keys on my Czech layout at all so one way I generate them is
pressing right alt + f for the left bracket and right alt + g for the
 right
one; another option would be pressing left alt plus their respective ASCII
codes on your numeric keyboard so it's 91 for the left one and 93 for the
right one. So just try it out and see if at least one of the options works
for you. Sorry, no easier way; LOL!

Re: This annoying noise in our speakers

2007-04-11 Thread Kathy Szinnyey
Hey, Dana, Larry, Talksina and anyone I've accidentally forgotten! Nope,
I'm not having that JAWS problem, although I do think I know what you're
talking about. I use my computer's soundcard for JAWS only, but I do
remember when JAWS was coming through an external card one time that it had
this odd echo effect. Anyway, I will continue to see what components might
be the culprit, but I have very little attached to the sound card. I do use
a (shoot, can't think of the name of this thing) a bass booster system (I
know that's not the right name) with my speakers, and my theory is that this
might be the offender. I don't know why, but that's my current guess. It
is soo annoying! I don't think some motor or generator could be the
cause unless something around the house has changed that I don't know about,
which is, of course, entirely possible.

Peace,
Kathy

I had that problem. It was with an older Sb Live and you would here what I
can only describe as a click, maybe a half second after Jaws stopped
speaking. When I bought a newer and better card, it went away. When running
Window-Eyes, I never heard it. I wish I'd known at the time that there was a
patch for it.

 Hi,

The best thing to do is to navigate to the AM radio website and look for a
listen now link and press enter on it. Many stations will offer real time
listening or audio archives of their programming.
Some stations will offer streaming using windows media player, Real Audio
player or perhaps some other streaming utility that they have contracted
 to
use. Thus you may need to download and install that player if you don't
 all
 ready have it installed.
