question about DVD Audio Extractor

2007-09-19 Thread Terra Syslo
I am extracting the audio from a movie at a constant bitrate of 128 KBPS. It
is taking a long time, and when I extracted one at a variable bitrate, even
though it was a larger file size when done, it didn't take as long. Is this
normal?

Ultra weird GoldWave problem

2007-09-19 Thread Larry N
I've been using GoldWave for a long while and am now using version 5.19.
This is happening on 2 computers, so it's either me or GoldWave, not the
hardware.

In my work, one of the things I do is to divide vinyl albums into separate
tracks after transferring them to the computer. Once divided, I trim the
silence off the beginning and then go to the end and trim silence from that
end of the file. If the song is say... 3 minutes long, I now have a 3 minute
file. Quite naturally, I then hit save. Once doing that, in about a quarter
of my files, I then have a file that is 59 seconds long. Not 58, not a
minute, but almost always 59 seconds. Any Goldwave experts care to take a
shot at that one?

Splitting tracks in Sound ForgeRe: new rechargeable ready to go:

2007-09-19 Thread Larry N
I believe this is probably a simple issue, but I'm having trouble finding
the solution in Sound Forge eight's PDF manual.

I want to divide trakds after transferring them from a vinyl album to the
computer. Up to now, I've performed the task in GoldWave, which, as
mentioned in another post, hasn't been working for me lately. Can someone
tell me how to do this in Sound Forge 8 using Window-Eyes?

I would like to point out when you use adapters for the AA batteries to make
them
fit into something that uses D batteries, you won't have the current or
capacity
to run them in Cd players or tape recorders for very long. this concept is
nothing
new. I seem to remember a brand called Cyna batteries from about 25 or 30 years

Hey, Trace and list! Well, it's up and running. It's accessible as far
 as
I can tell, but you have to copy those dang characters every time you have
 a

days. So, while you're not paying money, your paying in annoyance. Lol!
Nope, there's no such thing as a free lunch!!

 Hi everyone,
i have a question regarding subscribing to a podcast feed not already
 in
 the
directory. The site i am looking at is www.liquidchurch.com which
 offered
.mp3 downloads of the pastor's homilies to 2007, but which now seems
 to
 only
offer the downloads and/or live stream either through itunes or some
 other
web-based player. This podcast does not seem to be part of the
 Replay-AV
database and I am too new to Juice, (having just downloaded it) to
 know
 how
to search its entire directory and the specifics involved in adding a
podcast. Can anyone advise me of the most straightforward way to
 subscribe
to the podcast feed with either of these programs? i will probably
 write
 to
the web developers to see whether or not they can continue to add the
 .mp3
feeds with the newer content but was hoping to solve the problem on my
 own.
Needless to say, I don't see access via itunes as remotely possible
 without
sighted help and/or money I do not have spent on scripts which may or
 may
not work well. Hope I have been clear in conveying what I want to
accomplish. Many thanks as always for any suggestions.

Re: PROUD OWNER OF THE IMIC ... YIKES!! ... I CAN'T MAKE IT WORK, PLEASE HELP!!!

2007-09-19 Thread Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc.
Hi Dane:

Thanks for the hand holding. I think I am almost there, but do have one
more question:

The Imic I have does indeed have the USB connector; then it has a rather
long cord, don't know exact measurement; this connects to what I am assuming
is th speaker to which a one-eighth inch audio plug is connected and two
females at the end. It does sem to have come with a CD-ROM, perhaps
containing installation software which I may not need under Widnows XP.

I suppose what I need to know is whether to connect the female plugs to a
speaker; does the sound come out externally or would I need an earphone to
hear its sound?

Sorry, I may not have asked the question correctly, but hopefully I did come
close to making sense. Looking forward to reading your helpful response!!

Sincerely,
Olusegun

Put a mark at the beginning and end of each track, go to the beginning,
press the letter I, go to the end, press the letter O, press the letter R
and you can name each region. Then, when you're all done, hit alt-t for
tools, X, to extract regions to files, and you will have your list of
regions. All are selected by default, and then you can designate a place to
put them.

2007-09-19 Thread DJ DOCTOR P
High Garry,
That's exactly what I remember too.
I tried that once, and found that it didn't work to well.
But 20 years ago, this was in a stereo that used a power amp for a car
stereo system.
It required about 7.2 ampyears of currant and about 18 volts to power it.
Witch came from 10 D batteries.
When I tried to use those adappters, it cooked them.
That only happened because there wasn't enough voltage and or currant.
This portable stereo that I have, is about 15 years old.
It will cook those adappters too especially wen you atempt to play a CD on
this old thing.
The only reason that I'm still hanging on to it, because it still works.

a different charger wasn't mentioned in the article, however, another
company from Japan has had the same kind of batteries for close to a year
now. wish I could remember but it's a major company that we all have heard
of.

Ok, sounds like you are talking about the new hybrid batteries then and the
price sounds right for those kind of batteries. I agree, the new hybrid
batteries are really going to be sweet. What I am not sure of yet is
whether or not you need a special charger. Not sure if they can be
recharged on regular NIMH chargers.

These will last much longer in off mode while charged. they were never able
to sell them in charged mode. Other than that, it's all I know.

Albert,

Sorry, not following you here. Do you mean the new Hybrid batteries, and
are you saying they will be $3 per battery? If you are referring to the new
Hybrid batteries then I can believe the price but if you mean regular NIMH
batteries that have simply been pre-charged before delivering them to
stores, then I don't get it.

for 3 bucks a piece, Duracell is putting their rechargeable line of
batteries in stores next month. currently, you have to charge them up
before using them. these will make Xmas. much more fun.

Just go to:

www.btjunkie.org

www.mininova.org

I like using torrent sites, rather than the actual program. Anyway, sorry if
this doesn't answer your question- but, I find most of my things on those
sites.

Re: new rechargeable ready to go:

2007-09-19 Thread DJ DOCTOR P
Hi Garry,
I did do that once just to show my syance teacher that it could be done.
It really impressed him!
But that was my JVC witch put a powerful 30 watts per channal in to a pare
of 6 and a half inch wolfers and a pare of 1 inch horn loded tweaters.
This was a big boom box, and it was heavy.
But it packed a powerful sound.
I wish they still made them like that today.
My 15 year old SONY sounds pretty good, but not like the JVC I had.

John, try to find a couple of lantern batteries and hook them in series.
 that will
get that car stereo cooking. I used to have all kinds of stuff like that.
 I still
have a Mallory power supply that my dad passed on to me that I used that
 was
adjustable from 1 to 20 volts 12 amps continuous for stuff like that.

 High Garry,
That's exactly what I remember too.
It will cook those adappters too especially wen you atempt to play a CD
 on
 this old thing.
The only reason that I'm still hanging on to it, because it still works.

I would like to point out when you use adapters for the AA batteries to
make them
fit into something that uses D batteries, you won't have the current or
 capacity
to run them in Cd players or tape recorders for very long. this concept
 is
 nothing
new. I seem to remember a brand called Cyna batteries from about 25 or
 30
 years
 ago that were adaptable.

 DJ, you wrote:

Are they making their rechargeables in this sise?

Quite a few battery manufacturers now produce rechargeables, which
discharge much slower than earlier ones. Sanyo were the first, their
slow dischargers are called Eneloop. Uniross's are called Hybrio,
Ansmann's MaxE and so on. As much as I know, these batteries are only
manufactured in AA and AAA size, but there are adapters, so that one
can also use them in devices, which require D cells for instance.

I remember those boom boxes from JVc. I used to have one like yours that had
tucked away in the corner, a little 2 inch tv screen. it was a nice piece. the
heavist boom box I remember was a singer. the speakers alone must have wayed
about
15 pounds a piece. I know the rechargabler batteries of yester year wouldn't
cut
it in players like that.
