Hi.
Power dvd seams to work nicely too, you could use that. It has shortcut keys
for lots of things and I was able to play an instructional dvd on the spur
of the moment the other day with this alienware laptop.

 Hi Jeff,

I just went to the control panel, to folder options and file types. Under
dvd video, Jaws says, none, dvd video. i entered on advanced and it gave
me only 3 options, play, play using power dvd, play using power starter.
How do I get WMP in there?

Thank you for all your help.

I did not see anything about .vob.

 Hi Lauren:
Sorrymy suggestion caused you some trouble.

After uninstalling VLC, if you want WMP or any other program to
 play the dvd
windows needs to Associate a file with the program.

In the control pannel go to folders, then file types.
Arrow down to .VOB, that is the
extension that DVD videos use, you'll probably see VLC as the
current associon. You'll also see buttons to delete, or change
 details.

That will let you reassociate to WMP when you sellect that as the
 associated program.

I

What do you do to get a movie to play? The funny thing is that only once
in
my WMP did I get the DD to play, but after having installed and

  Hi Lauren:

The problem is the media player requires files call codecs codec
stads for code decoder, DVDs, and other files like mp3 and so
forth use special decoders to play.
If one wishes to play dvd's on Media Player you need to find or
  purchase the DVD codec.

Fortunately there is a solution. If you visit videolan.org and
download vlc media player, it is accessible and it plays just
about all the files known to multimedia, including DVD.

No charge, no extra downloading of codecs. This problem you have is
not uncommon. It was a regular call to tech support where I
work, until I installed vlc media player and directed folks
toignore the Microsoft prompts to play with Windows Media
  player.

  Give it a try.

I wanted to use WMP and I said yes. I waited for something to happen,

I put in the same DVD into my regular DVD player and I could get it to
 play
by pressing the play button twice.

 Please advise?

The program is not free, and is $59.95 and will not allow you to copy DVD
movies, and if you have a DVD writer, you might be able to do this but
unsure.

I owned the Sangean 909 until a few years ago, when it spontaneously
developed microprocessor problems, and no matter what button(s) were

according to the button-presses, and they kept changing, so I knew the

Interesting, though, how the Sony review was the only one that
mentioned it was a dual-conversion receiver. Wonder about the two
Sangeans.

Yes, unfortunately those sets did suffer from quality control issues.
I owned a Sony ICF-7600G for 10 years before selling it and upgrading
it to the better performing Sony ICF-7600GS which is still available,
that was 3 years ago.

Well, first of all you must hit enter on the link that says launch the
video player. Then after that when the next page comes up then you arrow
down or tab until you hear video and then arrow down once more you should
then hear audio. Press enter on the audio. You will be on the same page
so you will not need to wait for any next page. Then you can arrow down
through the games and when you find the one you want you arrow down to a
graphic that says graphic, watch now then press enter. Even though the
graphic is not marked as a button or a link you hit enter on that graphic
and within roughly 30 seconds, you should hear the Westwood one feed of that
game you want.

2008-03-21 Thread Christopher Chaltain
So I'm assuming you're going to http://www.ncaasports.com/mmod/welcome
and you've already registered and signed on. You also need to be running
Internet Explorer. Getting it to work with Firefox is a bit tricky.

On the above URL, you'll see the following:

March Madness On Demand
to launch the video player and begin watching live games!

You need to click on the link Click here.

On the next page, you'll get a series of tables, one for each game that
day. You need to click on the text graphic Watch Now!. I use a right
mouse click with JFW. You may be able to hit enter on it, but it doesn't
show up as a link or any other kind of object you can click on.

I think this is pulling the video as well as the audio. I don't know if
you can get just the audio stream or not. I haven't spent that much time
messing with it. This thing called work keeps getting in the way! I'm
sure others smarter than me have figured out easier ways to get at this.

Gold Wave causes video problems?

2008-03-21 Thread Valiant8086 on laptop
Hi.
I'm having problems with gold wave. When I run it, it causes dinging noises to
be played when I play a sound. I'm using jaws 9.0. I have the scripts 1.56 or
something like that. They have support for zoom level which doesn't seam to
work very well. They are very sluggish and always want to say no file is
selected when I do something like copy the selection, or say no sound in
clipboard when I go to paste, when there actually was a sound. In addition gold
wave's text interfeers with all other open programs when gold wave is running
and after I close it until I close jaws. Also it seams to be messing up edit
fields like the subject edit field in outlook express aven after that until a
reboot, across multiple jaws restarts. It is very close to impossible to use
gold wave on this xp laptop, and the same seams to be happening even without
the scripts or with jaws8 running. Any ideas? I don't think gold wave on my
vista laptop does this.

Subject: Replay AV problem

I have a problem with running Replay AV it just won't run. So I thought I
would re-install it.

Is there a file that I can back up taht will save all my Schedule
 settings?

Re: Recording in Goldwave v5.19

2008-03-21 Thread Vinny Samarco
Melony,
It probably is because the recording, stop and pause keys are as follows,
record, ctrl f9, Paus, ctrl f7, and stop, ctrl f8. Hope this works for you
Also, you have to go into the device controls usingunder volume and check
the control which will causegoldwave to record from your sound card.
Let me know if that works for you.

Subject: Recording in Goldwave v5.19

How do I record using Goldwave V5.19? I'm playing a video online and want
to record the sound. Do I need to change the settings? I'm using the
keystrokes F9 and F8 to start and stop recording ... and nothing records.
It's recording but there's no sound when I try to play the selection.
 What
 am I doing wrong?

 Melanie

Subject: Gold Wave causes video problems?

Hi.
I'm having problems with gold wave. When I run it, it causes dinging noises
to be played when I play a sound. I'm using jaws 9.0. I have the scripts
1.56 or something like that. They have support for zoom level which doesn't
seam to work very well. They are very sluggish and always want to say no
file is selected when I do something like copy the selection, or say no
sound in clipboard when I go to paste, when there actually was a sound. In
addition gold wave's text interfeers with all other open programs when gold
wave is running and after I close it until I close jaws. Also it seams to be
messing up edit fields like the subject edit field in outlook express aven
after that until a reboot, across multiple jaws restarts. It is very close
to impossible to use gold wave on this xp laptop, and the same seams to be
happening even without the scripts or with jaws8 running. Any ideas? I don't
think gold wave on my vista laptop does this.

Re: Replay AV problem

2008-03-21 Thread Peter Scanlon
Phew! It did restore them. Thanks. However I still have some problem having
the program show in the System Tray and starting from the program list. Must
be a Windows problem. But it does not seem to effect other progs.

Whenever I've re-installed, it has retained the schedule settings.

 Good luck, Stephen
