Some people are doing that, so there must be drives that are long enough.

Can any of you describe what the NLS talking book cartridges
look like and what kind of USB cable do I need to use to
connect this to my computer's USB port in order to transfer
the downloaded books. I understand it will show up as a
removable drive in My Computer or Computer area. No problem
there. No problem moving/copying it to the cartridge and then
inserting the cardtridge into the NLS Talking Book player. I
called my local library to see if the player was available
and it was. I got the advanced model. I heard a very good
podcast about this player on blindcooltech.com if you want to
learn more about it. Right now I am waiting for the unit and
never touch one of these cartridges.

It will be carried on WFAN in New York, which has a stream at WFAN.com.
However, I do not know if they will blackout that game due to any

problems with Adobe Flash Player

2010-02-27 Thread mbern6516

Hello everyone,
I currently have Adobe Flash Player 10 active X installed on my pc.
However, it doesn't
seem to work at all. There's a cermon I listen to on Sunday mornings,
on tfhny.org.

I've
suggested to the church who owns the site, that they could provide
other options
in addition to Adobe Flash, so that people who either didn't have, or
couldn't use
Adobe Flash Player, would have a variety of media players to choose
from, when listening
to the stream. My suggestion was well excepted. It may take some time
though, before
they're able to include these options on the site. So for now, I have
to use Adobe
Flash Player to listen. As I stated above, the current version I have
doesn't work
very well. When I go to the main page of the site, there's a link
almost mid-way
down the page that says, (live church). If you click on this on any
Sunday morning
between 8:30 A.M, and 1:30P.M Eastern time, a new window opens, and
within a matter
of seconds or so, you'll hear the stream. With older versions of the
player, there
was never a problem, the audio would start up right away. But with this
version,
I hear nothing. Is there anything I can do to fix this? or should I
just upgrade
to a newer version. I don't really keep up with Adobe Flash, is there a
newer version
available? If so, where can I go to download it? Just to make sure that
my question
is stated clearly, I'm trying to listen to a live stream, using Adobe
Flash Player
10 Active X, but I can't hear the audio of the stream and I'd like to
know what I

can do to get it to play.
Mike
Rochester, NY.
PS. I'm using windows xp home. At first, I thought that it was just a
browser problem.
I've tried listening to the stream on this site using both Internet
Explorer 7, which
is what I currently have, and Firefox 3.5, but I still can't get the
audio to play.

I purchased it from MeritLine.com

Re: problems with Adobe Flash Player

2010-02-27 Thread Adrian Spratt
A few possibilities here. The last time I couldn't get Adobe Flash Player
(AFP) to run, the solution was to enable Shockwave. I did this by going to
Internet Explorer, tools, options, then control-tabbing to programs. Tab
from there to the manage add-ons button. Press spacebar and then tab
around. You will find a list of add-ons, one of which should be Shockwave.
Make sure it's checked.

To install the current version of AFP, it's ideal that you first uninstall
the current version. Here are directions and links copied from a posting on
another list:

Before you find the flash player download link, you need to uninstall the
previous version. The tool to do that is here
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157

The flash player is here

Correction. I just reminded myself that AFP no longer seems to require the
uninstallation step. So ignore it in my previous message unless you run into
problems that getting rid of the old version might overcome.

Managing recording settings in Windows 7.

2010-02-27 Thread Matthew Bullis
Hello, can it really be this hard? I'm used to the Windows XP way of doing
things, where the volume control has check boxes to select whether the line
in or the microphone port is used. If I now work in Windows 7, I have to
click on speakers in the system tray and go down a list of several
nondescript options that say microphone. Line in is at the bottom, and when
I select it and hit properties, sometimes I get the listen tab, along with
the levels tab, but sometimes not. When I don't get this set of tabs, I hear
no noise from my recording source, and only have the general tab. I think
I'll have to reboot to get these settings to show up. Also, when things are
working, how can I switch to using the microphone rather than the line in
port, such as when I want to do voice chats? I used to just keep the volume
control open and could switch back and forth in a few seconds. Am I just not
going about it the right way, or has Microsoft really made it complicated
and arduous? I have made a dual-boot system, with both XP and Windows 7, but
I prefer to keep going in Windows 7, since it's working pretty well for the
most part.

Thanks a lot.
Matthew
