2010-04-28 Thread Tom

Hi Jörgen,

I was complimenting you for giving several ways
people could contact you to obtain the file you
were offering. Thank you for doing that. You
did it the correct way.

The problem I have was that when someone on en
e-mail list offers to share a file there's always
forty or fifty people sending messages directly
to the e-mail list saying, please send it to me
too and generating unnecessary list traffic. As
you saw, even though you gave your contact
information, there were still six or eight
requests sent to the list asking for the file. I
just don't understand why they would do this when
you gave your e-mail address in the body of your
message where it was not at all difficult to find.

Thank you.

Tom

That's a question you are best off answering for yourself by testing against
the highest quality you can make to see where you can first hear a

Here's an interesting question. I've experimented with a lot of different
bit rates and sample rates doing voice recordings but still don't know
what combination of the two give good enough quality for speech. I know
you need higher rates for music, at least 128KBPS. I'm only talking about
voice recordings using a mic at this point. What combination of bit and
sample rate will take the least space and give me fair quality speech
audio. What should be higher. The bit rate, or the sample rate. I'm
talking about MP 3 files. I'd like to get a better understanding of this.
Thanks in advance. Joe.

Gary, I also feel that this may be an arbitrary standard. I may have been
one of these who asked the question, based on comments I've heard. Of
course, many say that wav is the best, but when I listen to music, or even
spoken recordings, the quality may vary from recording to recording, and
maybe this is all subjective at best. This is just only my opinion. Just
weighing in.

Hi.

Some out there will disagree with me, but that's all right. I think that
for recording just speech, CD quality is overkill. Personally I would
use

64 KBPS with 44.1 Khz sampling, in mono. I don't think you'd notice much
of
an improvement with higher bit rates, and in fact you might be able to go
even lower, to 32 kbps, but you might notice some artifacts creep into
the

picture.

As I said, this is for just speech recording. Music is a completely
different animal. I personally use 128 kbps mp3 files at 44k sampling.
I

know it's not CD quality, but I personally like my files at a constant
value, and this sounds good enough for me.

Have a good day, and don't work too hard.

Hi Brett,

Do you or anyone else know if there is an easy way with Winamp to insert a file
into the playlist at the point of the focus?

As an example, if the focus is on the track in the playlist three after the one
currently playing, I can press l to load another
track, but instead of being placed where I am focussed (which is what I would
like), it is always placed at the end of the playlist.
I then have to use the jump command to locate it, use the move after current
option which moves it to after the track currently
playing, arrow up to it then use alt+down arrow a couple of times to move it
down to where I want it. There should be an easier
way.

Thanks,

track you wanted.
Jump button: Jump immediately to a track
Even if winamp is stopped, or there is a track playing this will start
immediately.
queue button This will queue up the track so it will play as the next song.
However this will move your cursor to that tracks
position in the playlist. So you will lose your current place when you do this.
BTW The queue command will also work with the next command.
The best button of them all!
Move after current button: This button will queue up the track and bring the
track to the next position on your playlist.
So you can queue it to be played next, and you don't lose your place. However
this is permanent another words if you go back it will
stay at the position you left it.
Well I tried to be brief but hopefully this was helpful to someone.
Also you can set which button is the default for the enter key. This makes
things easy if you want to queue up a bunch of files
without a lot of tabbing around.

This is true, but what if I am a thousand tracks from the end of the playlist?
I have some playlists containing thousands of
tracks.

You can always hit end once it is added to the playlist and then use alt
up arrow to bring it up to the point you want it. You can alt and arrow
any file around.

 Hi Brett,

Do you or anyone else know if there is an easy way with Winamp to insert a
file into the playlist at the point of the focus?

As an example, if the focus is on the track in the playlist three after the
one currently playing, I can press l to load another
track, but instead of being placed where I am focussed (which is what I would
like), it is always placed at the end of the
 playlist.
I then have to use the jump command to locate it, use the move after current
option which moves it to after the track currently
playing, arrow up to it then use alt+down arrow a couple of times to move it
down to where I want it. There should be an easier
 way.

 Thanks,

Hey all. Hopefully this will be helpful to some of you.
The jump command in winamp is quite powerful. I mean you can't kill anyone
with it but it's still pretty cool.
If you've ever tabbed around the jump dialog box you'll notice the different
buttons. Basically here is a brief how-to.

Re: cuing files

2010-04-28 Thread Rob Tabor

Hi, Vicky.
Cuing files simply means getting the next track ready to start playing on
cue when the current one finishes.

Help with Wave Pad please?

2010-04-28 Thread Johnny Angel!

Hi folks,
I know I have asked this before, but, I'm wondering if Wave Pad Pro
offers the ability
to create tracks on a 40 mgb single mp3 file? The file is spoken
words that is about

an hour and 20 minutes time in length.
Thanks,
Johnny
