los of sound problem with USB mic.
hello all, have just got a new USB stereo mic for use with my laptop, as it doesn't have any standard mic inputs, and I don't think much of the built in mic on it, but am having a problem. when I plug the mic in, I lose all sound, and far worse, my window-eyes speech. it comes back when I unplug the mic again, but why is this happening? even when I set window-eyes specifically to go via the built in realtec soundcard, I still get no speech when the mic is plugged in. does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this problem please? Re: los of sound problem with USB mic.
Hi, You probably don't have los of sound. If your mike has an audio or earphone jack, you will find that all the sound has ben rerouted to that usb audio output. You can hear your screen reader from that audio output. You'll have to move hyour audio speaker input so that you can hear your computer. it doesn't, the only connection on it is for the USB. Total Recorder
Hello all. A new version of Total Recorder , 8.3, is available from the Total Recorder website. www.totalrecorder.com. One new feature I like personally, and this is for Windows 7 only, is support, both for playback and recording, of the various types of MP4 formats, including M4A. Reason I like it? Excellent CD quality despite the smaller file size. For those who have never tried the program before, you can download a free, fully functional evaluation copy from the above website. The only limitation is the insertion of a short noise in a recording after about every minute. The company, High Criteria, welcomes any support required even in the evaluation mode. The license costs at least $18 depending on the edition, plus there are discounts if you decide to upgrade from one edition to another. All updates to the program are free of charge for the lifetime of the product. Enjoy. -- Christopher H To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Adrian, as tom ses, it sounds like the bit rate, and maybe even the type of encoding needs to be checked. I haven't used easy cd extractor since version 11. but in the output tab you determine what encoding you want, flak, mp3 ogg wma or whatever. Then you determine the bit rate along with lots of other peramaters. You may have an accessibility issue hear, as I say, i have no experience since the earlier version, but once set up, it should be a breeze to use. Windows Media Player 11
Hi. WMP11 has six format settings for ripping CDs. I chose WAV (Lossless). WMP took a long time to go through the ripping process, and in fact never completed it, although all the tracks from the CD showed up in the designated folder. When I attempted to play these tracks, MS responded with a message to the effect that the player can't play either this CD or this format. However, when I put the same CD in just to play, not rip, WMP went right ahead. I changed the format to Windows Media Audio Lossless, and the player smoothly ripped the files to the folder. When it was done, I could play the tracks from that folder. There is nothing wrong with this CD. If I just play it, WMP operates fine. WMP can also rip and play its contents, albeit with my second choice of format. What it can't do is play files in my preferred format, even though it's one of the six ripping format options offered by the same WMP. Any ideas?
