help with microphone

2012-11-17 Thread Adrien Collins
Hi

I have just got a microphone to use with skyp and windows 7
pro, I plugged it in but on testing it with sound recorder,
I have no sounds coming out, is there a volume setting
somewhere? I know the mike works ok as I tested it on my
victor stream. On my pc there is a flap at the front and in
there are a headphone and mike connection, if I plug the
mike in to the earphone socket the main pc speakers stop
working so I know I have it in the correct jack.

Yep, you have to go to the sound dialog and go to the recording ttab and
make it the defalt if it isn't already. Then go into the properties for the
mike and go to the levels tab to set the volume.

2012-11-17 Thread Vítek
Hi,

What sound card do you have? Try opening the command line (Windows+r) type
mmsys.cpl
and go to the recording card further tab once in order to get to the dropdown
list choosing the microphone then tab to the properties hitting enter on it and
try setting the microphone volume such as its volume channels left/right etc.

If it fails then right in Skype go to menu - tools - settings - sound
devices card and when hitting the tab key once you'll get to the dropdown list
with options to choose from and one of them is microphone. You also have an
option set microphone automatically as a default or something like that in
the sound devices card. You need to know what sound card you have to attach the
mike with that. It requires sort of experimenting I'd say b/c I've also had
these troubles sometimes ago having to set the microphone as a default device
as you go further in this card in Skype where you have to fiddle with the
up/down buttons which is quite complicatet to learn and orientate in at the
first sight.

Good luck and have a shot before messing around with that not to loose your
nerves:D

Surely, you should plug the mic in to the mic socket rather than the other.

Have a look in the sounds and audio devices section of the control pannel.

There are two tabs, playback and recording. go to the recording tab and
cursor down the list to your mic and then tab across to properties.

In there, there are other tabs and the one you want is levels.

I hope this is of help to you.

Regards.
