Connecting Multiple devices to a laptop with one audio jack

2013-05-29 Thread Paul Hunt
Hello everyone. I'm a brand new subscriber. I just purchased a Dell Latitude
5530 laptop. It's a very nice machine but it only has one jack for the
Microphone, Headphone, Line in and Line out. If I want to connect a headset
that contains separate microphone and headphone plugs, what kind of cable do
I need? Also, the sound card doesn't contain a What U Hear option so I
probably need a mixer to mix the audio from JAWS and a microphone, etc. I
don't think I need a real elaborate one. Do any of you have recommendations?

Thanks so much.

Using Goldwave

2013-05-29 Thread Paul Hunt
Hello everyone. I'm new to sound editing and have Goldwave. Are there any
tutorials or scripts for oGoldwavee? I'm particularly interested in learning
to do tight editing and mixing.

Thanks so much.

I would buy a USB sound card to connect all your bits to.

Shop around and you should find something that will do the job.

2013-05-29 Thread Darran Ross
Paul, you may want to try the following couple of resources for help in
getting to grips with Goldwave. And the first link here will take you
through getting and installing the scripts.

http://startbutton1.home.comcast.net/~startbutton1/gw/gw.htm

I'm also pretty sure there's Goldwave help to be found over at

www.blind-geek-zone.net

although I haven't checked this before sending, sorry.

Hope there's something here of use!

Re: Using Goldwave

2013-05-29 Thread Joe Paton

Paul,

first, read the help documentation that comes with goldwave. It's
pretty extensive. Next for the type of audio editing I do, I haven't
needed a script at all, Either I'm not requiring exacting results,
or, you can get buy without scripts. Who knows. People work in
unique ways, and my methods may not suit other folks, or they may do.

The developer works with Dave Bar I think his name is, and around
daves suggestions based on his extensive experience, the programme is
particularly keyboard friendly.

As for mixing, which you mention, don't know what you intend. GW may
not be the programme for you, but then again, it may suit you down to
the last digital byte.

Best regards,

Joe

Not sure what may be causing your Winamp problems. If you don't mind
loosing your custom settings, you might delete the winamp.ini file and
see if things get back to normal.

Audacity or GW

2013-05-29 Thread John Chilelli

Hi all,

I eventually will be getting a copy of Sonar 8.5. But between that
upgrade and the Jaws scripts for it will cost me a wopping $700.00 which
I don't currently have. In the meantime, I need to start making
podcasts and musical spotst for radio broadcasting using Shoutcast and
hopefully Station Playlist. I am looking at either Audacity or
GoldWave. Which one of these Digital audio editing software packages
should I start investing time into learning. I also must choose to
either upgrade to WE 8.x or I can also use Jaws 13.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for your input,

Blessings,

John

Re: Audacity or GW

Audacity is free and allows for multitracking with control over
individual tracks. It also has more extensive effects and better noise
reduction than Goldwave, but it is more complex than Goldwave and takes
longer to master. Goldwave has a reasonable price, but cannot
multitrack. The key strokes in Goldwave are easier to use. Both work
well with speech. There is a free guide on using Audacity with speech
which covers the main issues.

Ok, the speakers are with five hook ups the one is like an rs232
connection while the others are like the standard ones you might see as like
rca jacks.
the 3.5 mm chords there is one with double plugs on each end, then one that
has one on each, there is a two rca input set. I have them hooked up and
from what i can tell they sound great.
If you have any questions hank, please feel free to email me off list.
