Re: Creating a playlist in Winamp
the step that was left out is once you have placed the files you want in your playlist press control s to save and name it for future playing. Hit shift-l to open the directory tree view. Then you will simply be able to pick the folder you need. Then you're done...you can cycle through the list with the arrows, or use the b, z, etc keys. If winamp doesn't recognise the order properly, you may as well add them manually with l instead of shift-l. Hope that's reasonably clear. - Original Message - From: Donald L. Transferring Winamp-Bookmarks To Another Computer?
Hi, list. I'm using Winamp5.6.2X on a machine running Windows-XP-Home-SP3. Can I copy the bookmarks file to another Winamp of the same version, running on another machine with Windows7? If yes, what is the name of the file that keeps bookmarks? Thanks! Regards, Fazil. I think you also need to copy winamp.bm8 which should be in the same location as winamp.bm. Lowering Bass
I have recorded a few cassettes from my stereo to my PC. I thought they sounded OK but now the bass is a little too much. Is there some way using Audacity or MP3 DirectCut to lower the bass some? Thanks, Dean
Good Headsets To Use With Skype Etc
One of my favourite headsets for Skype and similar applications is the Plantronics Audio 478 Headset, I've had my original pair for 2 years and I just bought another. This headset is completely portable coming in its own travel bag, portable it may be but its durable enough to sit on your desk and be used as a main headset for your desktop computer. The headset is a stereo type with quite good sound for the money but certainly not audiophile sound as one would find with something like the Grado SR60I headphones but quite acceptable for Skype and everyday listening. The Audio 478 headset is an on the ear type thus you can hear what's going on around you. The headset employs DSP technology for noise cancelation and signal processing. The microphone of the Audio 478 rotates downwards from the left and can be adjusted once lowered. For a headset of this price the microphone sounds very nice and doesn't exhibit the quality of talking through your nose type sound that some microphones do on these sorts of headsets, I had terrible trouble with a logitech pair in this regard. An inline control panel provides volume, mute and answer/hangup buttons, these buttons can be manipulated through the Plantronics Audio 478 control panel which is a downloadable add-in to Windows, you can customise what the buttons do, a plugin is also available for Skype to allow Skype to take advantage of the answer/hangup capabilities of the Audio 478. The headset is a USB type and the cable is fairly rugged, again a great plus for this headset over the older Logitech pair I owned whose cable started curling and perishing after a very short period of time. The Plantronics Audio 478 in my view is very reasonably priced, I paid $65.00 for my new pair and $70.00 2 years ago when I bought my original pair so the price hasn't changed all that much. The price I paid is in Australia dollars so people living in the U.S. will probably pay quite a bit less. ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 Fax +61397437954

Apparently (with the non-paid version you can only do MP3s; it may be that I have forgotten how to get it to show other options for converting files to other formats! Re: Lowering Bass
Dean, Not sure about these but in GoldWave, it works well as I can attest from trying the following, sent me a considerable while ago when I had some minidisk recordings of Strangers and Brothers I needed to digitize and could not reduce the bass on the player. I suggest contact the sender and ask for his sample, for I no longer possess what he sent. A message about removing excessive bass in GoldWave. To: BCAB Discussion List b...@lists.bcab.org.uk Subject: Re: [BCAB] Please can anybody suggest how I remove the bass? From: Norman Octon nor...@octon2002.f2s.com Date: Sat, 3 Dec 2011 16:45:49 - Hi Colin, I don't know about the high pass filter, but I have found a different solution which sounds fantastic to my ear. In goldwave, go to Effects, Filter, Equalizer. From the presets, select Inverse RIAA EQ curve. The effect was to remove too much base and boost the treble too much, so I modified the numbers a bit. I'll send you my result.
