Re: My first Minidisc upload

Hi Ken,
I wish I could say with certainty. I really haven't gotten to play with it
much. it is a Sony net md mini disk player. I managed to get part of a book
on it but it was incomplete so I was trying to get it off and try again but
was having no luck. I don't know if it is because I am technologically
challenged or if it was that the sonic stage 2.2 was just so unfriendly. I
know that it is a menu driven unit, but I haven't gotten far enough to know
if it will be easy to remember the order of operations.
With lots of hope I am looking forward to giving the newer version a try.
Maybe I'll actually get to play with my toy. Smile
If I get it to work I will be sure to post it here.

   Shannon,

I downloaded SonicStage from www.minidisc.org. One has to register,
before one can download the software from there. But this is useful
anyway, because after registering, one can participate in the forums.

To find SonicStage on minidisc.org, go to the site and click on recent
news. One of the items is about the new SonicStage. Click on the
discuss
   link of that item.

Subject: My first Minidisc upload

A couple of days ago, sony released a new version of SonicStage.
With
this software, one can up and download stuff from and to ATRAC
 devices
like MD recorders. Until this new version 3.2, one could only
upload
 a
recording from an MD once. However with 3.2, one can upload as
often
 as
one wants. SonicStage still isn't too accessible. Uploading is
nevertheless absolutely doable with a screen reader. As with
 Ad-Aware,
   I
can't read an important list, the list with all the tracks from the
Minidisc. But there's a menu item called select all and after one
executes it, one can try, whether it has worked by pressing F6.
This
will play all the selected tracks from the Minidisc through the
sound
card. One can then select a menu item to upload all selected files.
I
was asked, whether I wanted to convert the uploads to Wave files
and
  if
so, where I wanted to store them. All worked fine. A great new
 version
of SonicStage! Now, HIMD-Recorders are a good option, when one is
looking for a high quality audio recorder, with which one can also
 upload to the PC.

Hi Sun Sparkle. I have found that when using Winamp with Live 365 I have to
log in to the Live 365 service before attempting to play a stream from them.
For whatever reason, I have found that when using Real Player, I don't have
to log in every time. That being said, listening options are always more
accessible with Winamp, so it might be worth the inconvenience of needing to
log in.

One other worthwhile mention here... as a live 365 VIP member I can
downlload and use radio 365. The version of this application which has
just been released is quite accessible with WindowEyes, 5.0, though not so
good with Jaws 6.0. For non-VIP members, Radio 365 can be purchased for $14
and something. A demo is also available. This lets you access live 365 from
your desktop, but again I should stress that so far I haven't been able to
make it work with anything but WindowEyes.

Hello,
I have not used Wavepad but have used similar programs and am relatively
sure of your problem. If you use software speech, even though you may have
what is called a multichannel soundcard you cannot technically split the
sounds so that only the stream you want to record is heard. in other
words, it is not like having stereo headphones ... in fact, if you connect
headphones to your PC, this is the reason you cannot hear both sound sources
one in each ear. The only way to assure that your screenreader speech does
not bleed into the recording is either to unload it completely or to get a
hardware synthesizer or a second soundcard for use by your screenreader
exclusively. if you have already done these things, I'm not sure what your
problem is. Hope this makes sense.
