Re: Question About GoldWave 6

2016-04-20 Thread Kelly Sapergia

Hi Tim,

Not entirely, but almost. I still use Sound Forge for most of my editing,
but have been getting more proficient at editing in GoldWave the more I use
it. When I got my current system (running Windows 7 64-bit), I paid for the
upgrade to Sound Forge Pro 11. Almost immediately, I regretted my decision
as the program was, for whatever reason, acting sluggishly, it would freeze
the system for up to two minutes at random times while I was trying to get
work done, and the selection commands were unpredictable. Sometimes they'd
work great, but other times material that I hadn't even selected was being
affected.
Plus, I hated the fade in and out features in the Mixer dialog, as I was
used to the way things worked with Sound Forge 6, and didn't need my voice
to fade in as music faded out a bit. It finally got to the point where I
ended up going back to Sound Forge 6.0E. Compared to Pro 11, it works
beautifully, but I sometimes notice some pops and clicks in my recordings at
times, though I'm not sure if it's sound card related or not. I also had a
heck of a time getting the program registered on this system as it's an out
of date version.
I had begun playing with GoldWave around this time, and noticed that the
recording issue I had with SF wasn't occuring with it.
I'll admit, it took awhile to figure out how to edit material, but the more
I played with the program, the more I liked, especially things like the Trim
command. I also liked the fact that the registration process was much
simpler than it is with Sound Forge. Needless to say, when my evaluation
period ran out after awhile, I didn't hesitate to buy the lifetime license.

Thanks.

Question About GoldWave 6

2016-04-19 Thread Kelly Sapergia

Hi,

I've been using GoldWave 5.70 since last year, and really like it. However,
I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading to version 6? When I purchased the
program, I heard from some friends on Twitter that there were some
accessibility issues with version 6. I'm wondering if that's still the case
today?

Thanks.

Re: Need Help with Sound Forge Pro 11

2014-07-15 Thread Kelly Sapergia

Hi All,

Thanks for all the messages about Sound Forge Pro 11. I do a lot of editing
of WAV files, and so far this version is proving, at least for me, to be an
utter disaster! Sometimes I can get it to do what I want, but while editing
material out of a large WAV file just now, it wasn't removing everything
that was selected, or else forgetting where I put a marker, and selecting an
earlier portion of the file as a result. What used to be a simple task in
6.0D is taking longer to accomplish in 11, and there's no reason for it.
It's because of all these issues that I'm going back to 6.0D, assuming it
will run on Windows 7. If it ends up not working with this system, I'll
definitely be looking for an alternative product, but right now I've had
enough.

Thanks.

Need Help with Sound Forge Pro 11

2014-07-12 Thread Kelly Sapergia

Hi,

After recently getting a new 64-bit PC with Windows 7 Professional, I
decided to upgrade Sound Forge from 6.0D (which I've used for a number of
years) to the latest version, Pro 11. However, I've noticed that this new
version seems to be rather sluggish when compared to 6.0D.
For instance, if I have two files loaded, and I switch to the other file by
either using the Window menu or pressing Control+Tab, it seems to take
awhile before I can do anything again. With 6.0D, going to a new window was
instantaneous. There have also been times where I'll be doing some editing,
and the program will seem to freeze for a couple minutes. When this happens,
I lose speech, but can Alt+Tab to another program, such as WinAmp.
Eventually, everything works fine again, but I find this very frustrating.
If anyone else is using this version, have you experienced these issues? Are
there any settings I should adjust to make it work more smoothly?

Thanks.

Installation was Re: Easy CD-DA Extractor Version 11.9.9 is now Available

2008-08-19 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi,
I downloaded version 11 of Easy CDDA Extractor from the page for
registered users. One thing that's holding me back from installing the
product is that during the installation, there's an options screen with a
checkbox-styled button that says Enable context menus in Windows Explorer
along with some buttons that JFW 9 can't read. Pressing them doesn't seem to
do anything. Does anyone know what these are for? Also, how accessible is
this version compared to version 9 with JFW? I still have the older version,
but thought about upgrading in case there are any bugfixes.
   Thanks.

Need Help Updating Audiophile 2496 Drivers

2007-12-16 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi,
I recently got an Audiophile 2496 sound card. It's working well
so far, but I'm having a bit of difficulty when it comes to updating
the drivers. I downloaded the latest drivers for the card from
M-Audio's website, and ran the EXE file. A message came up asking me
to select either Modify, Repair, or Remove. I assumed I had to choose
Modify, so I tried arrowing up and down to get to it, but nothing
happens. I even tried clicking on the circle next to the option, but
that didn't work either, it just stays on Remove. If anyone's using
this card, do you have to choose the Remove option before it will
update the drivers, or is there something else I need to do instead?
Thanks.

There are two sliders in the Mix dialog that let you adjust the Source

Loud Feedback When Using Direct Monitoring in Sonar

2006-04-21 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi,
My MIDI sequencer, Sonar, has a function called Direct Monitoring
that allows you to monitor what's going through the sound card. I have to
use this with some plugins, such as vocoders. However, when I use the
direct monitoring feature, I always hear things echoing back at me, and a
high-pitched squeal. The only way I can get rid of this behavior is by
either turning the panning controls on my mixer to the left, or by muting
the channels going to the sound card, then using my mixer's Prefader
buttons. Is there a way I can get rid of this annoying echo so I can use
these plugins? Also, if I were to get a better sound card, such as one of
the M-Audio models, would that help?
Thanks.

Re: Need Help with CDEx and ASPI Drivers

2005-10-18 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi Kevin,
I'm using CDEx 1.60 Beta 1.
I was able to download the ASPI drivers from Adaptec's site, but I
don't think they're being installed propperly. When I ran CDEx after the
drivers got installed, it worked fine until I started using the read from
WinAmpDB feature, then things went wrong. It again gave me the message
about NT SCSI devices not being supported or something to that effect. I
finally removed the CDEx.ini file, and ran the program again. This time, a
dialog came up saying that the WNASPI32.dll file couldn't be initialized.
I've tried installing these ASPI drivers for both Windows 98 and Windows
XP, but they're still not working. Is there something else I need to do?
Thanks.

Need Help with CDEx and ASPI Drivers

2005-10-15 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi,
I'm experiencing a problem with CDEx. I loaded it a couple days ago,
and it seemed to work fine, but after I started it again a bit later, I got
the following message:

Native NT SCSI Library support is not supported by this operating system.
You have to install ASPI drivers in order to use CDex.

I rebooted the system thinking that might correct the problem, and the
program began working propperly again, or so I thought. Now, whenever I try
ripping a CD, it doesn't look like the program is doing anything. I press
the Cancel button, and the program locks up.
Does anyone know how to correct this problem? Alternatively, is there a
site where I can grab these ASPI drivers?
I think the drivers I originally had were erased, without my permission,
when I installed the ImToo DVD Audio Extractor program a few months ago.
Thanks.

Hi,
I was reading about XM Radio's Online service, and was wondering if

2005-09-05 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi,
I was just wondering if certain bugs that I found in previous versions
resolved in 5.1? For instance, in version 5.093, I noticed that if I were
using the Wave Output plugin and held down an arrow key to fast forward or
rewind through a file, the computer would sometimes crash, and I'd have to
press the Reset button. Control+Alt+Delete did nothing. The DirectSound
Output plugin worked perfectly, but I ended up going back to a previous
version.
Also, there's an annoying problem I've been experiencing while
broadcasting. If I go out of WinAmp's window to check on MSN Messenger or
whatever, I sometimes can't move past the currently playing track when I
get back into the Playlist window. Beside the artist and track information,
there's a [1] (that's the number 1 in brackets), just before the time. When
the track finishes playing, it'll repeat itself. Whenever this happens, I
have to delete the currently playing song in the playlist editor. I'm then
able to move to the next song. This problem started in version 5.08E, and
as far as I know hasn't been fixed.
Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,
Kelly John Sapergia

Playing DVD-Audio Files

2005-05-13 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi,
I recently got a DVD burner. At the moment, I don't have any DVD video
playing software installed, but I'm wondering if there are any programs or
plugins for WinAmp that will let me play back the audio portion of a DVD?
   Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,

Re: Hooking Up An FM Transmitter

2005-01-02 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi Tom,
You'll have to plug the transmitter into where the speaker goes on your
sound card. What I did was to buy a small adaptor with two 1/8 inch jacks
on one end, and a single one on the other. You then just plug the
transmitter and speakers into the adaptor, then plug it back into the
speaker jack on the computer.
   Hope this helps.

Kelly John Sapergia

2004-07-11 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi Steve,
I just tried listening to some stations on Mike's Radio World, and
didn't have any problems. The New Stations page was updated towards the end
of June.
   Hope this helps.
