Hi there Samuel well some web sites only allow real player or windows mecia player. I have found that if you install mp player over the real player? it will play because it use's mp only. I hope this makes sense for I use the enternet for alot of reasons, for example wabc use's only mp not real player the same for kabc. Well, here's why I'm likely a good nominee for the Computer Audio Stupid Tricks hall of fame: I decided after being frustrated with this problem all week and trying a bunch of solutions--using a different tape player, etc., that I would just start again with the absolute basics. I knew beyond any doubt more sure of it than I was of being able to breathe, that I had inserted that cable properly and fully into my PC's audio input jack. But just for grins, I decided to give that plug one more little nudge. It already felt tight and in all the way. Well, you can all guess the rest, and by now I hope you're smiling just a bit. Trust me, you should smile guilt free about this; I've been laughing at myself since yesterday. When I gave that cord that little nudge, I heard it click just once more and felt it settle into the jack ever-so-slightly further. Of course, my problem instantly went away and I was again hearing my separate tracks in their separate channels as they should be. Well, that's what being arrogant and cocky will do for you. I was so absolutely certain I had that cord in there as far as it would go, but that extra eighth of an inch or so made all the difference. I figured I'd share my little story, since none of you have ever done anything like that and never will. I want you to at least vicariously enjoy a good laugh or smile at my expense or along with me or whatever you prefer. I guess the moral of this little story is, no matter how sure you are about your connections, check'em one last time before you write this list. Thanks to all of you who wrote back and expressed your concern; I hope you'll forgive me for wasting your time reading and responding to that earlier message. Any thoughts at all as to what I'm doing wrong all the sudden? I've played music through the sound card, and it comes out in stereo just fine. The problem appears to linked to either sound Forge or to the settings in my record volume control. This is a Vista machine, by the way. Please, any help at all would be most welcome. I'm obviously done converting these tapes until I can get the channels separated again. And yes, I've restarted the machine several times. But now Sirius XM, the satellite radio company, has problems with much bigger price tags. It has hired advisers to prepare for a possible bankruptcy filing, people involved in the process said. That would, of course, be a grim turn of events for the normally upbeat Mr. Karmazin, Sirius XM's chief executive, who had hoped to create a mobile entertainment juggernaut with stars like Howard Stern. It is unclear how a bankruptcy would affect customers. Service is unlikely to be interrupted, but the company might have to terminate contracts with high-priced talent like Mr. Stern or Martha Stewart. A bankruptcy would make Sirius XM one of the largest casualties of the credit squeeze. With over $5 billion in assets, it would be the second-largest Chapter 11 filing so far this year, according to Capital IQ. The filing by Smurfit-Stone, with assets of $7 billion, has been the year's biggest to date. Sirius XM, which never turned a profit when both companies were independent, is laden with $3.25 billion in debt. Its business model has been dependent, in part, on the ability to roll over its enormous debts -- used to finance sending satellites into space and attract talent like Mr. Stern (who was paid $100 million a year) -- at low rates for the foreseeable future until it could turn a profit. The company's success and failure are also tied to the faltering fortunes of the automobile industry, which sells vehicles with its radio technology installed and represented the largest customer base among Sirius XM's 20 million subscribers. Sirius XM owes about $175 million in debt payments at the end of February that it is unlikely to be able to pay. Sirius XM's problems could pave the way for a takeover by EchoStar, the TV satellite company, which has bought up Sirius XM's debt. Mr. Karmazin has been locked in talks with EchoStar's chief executive, Charles W. Ergen, over Sirius XM's options, people involved in the talks said. The men are said not to get along, these people said, and Mr. Karmazin had rebuffed Mr. Ergen's takeover advances before. Sirius XM hired Joseph A. Bondi of Alvarez Marsal and Mark J. Thompson, a bankruptcy lawyer with Simpson, Thacher Bartlett, to help prepare a Chapter 11 filing, these people said. Documents and analysis are close to completion and a filing could come in days, according to a person familiar with the matter. The threat of bankruptcy could also be part of a negotiating dance with Mr. Ergen, who could decide to convert his debt into equity instead of demanding payment. In addition to the $175 million due in February, EchoStar also owns $400 million of Sirius XM's debt due in December. If Sirius XM files for bankruptcy, EchoStar could seek in court to take over the company. Mr. Ergen, however, may be able to negotiate to convert his shares before bankruptcy at an attractive rate and gain control of the company, these people said. For Mr. Karmazin, the sale or bankruptcy of Sirius XM would be one of his first failures. He founded Infinity Broadcasting, sold it to CBS and later merged the combined companies into Viacom, where he had a notoriously difficult relationship with Sumner M. Redstone, the chairman, before being ousted. Mr. Karmazin bought two million shares of Sirius XM at $1.37 a share in August. Before that, he had bought 20 million shares at an average price of $5 each. On Tuesday, Sirius closed at 11.4 cents a share. Since the summer, the company's prospects have dimmed. ''I'm not trying to paint the rosy picture, because we have challenges connected to our liquidity and certainly our stock price is dreadful,'' Mr. Karmazin said in December. My entire cd collection is now in my external hard drive. But the tapes contain loads of tunes from back in the day. Some quite hard to find. Then there's the vinyl! I'm using a Del laptop with Windows Vista and Jaws 9. I also have an old Toshiba laptop with Windows XP and JAWS 9. That one is not working very well, and I try to use it as little as possible. My de3l computer is doing something very strange. It has Windows Media Player and Real Player, but WM player is the default. I'm able to go to different websites and listen to things using it. There are several radio stations I enjoy that I can listen to using Windows Media Player with no problem. However, when I get to one specific station www.kboo.fm something different happens. When I try to click on the mp3 high link, my computer tells me that Internet Explorer cannot load the web page. Well, that's very strange because every other computer I have (including my office computer) has no problems with it. Even my very sluggish computer can load that particular web page and open it with Windows Media Player. This station is becoming more important to me and I'll be needing to listen to it more and more, but it would be preferable to use my primary computer for this. Now, you might ask yourselves whether or not IE is loading other web pages. Yes it is. No problems there. Also, you may ask if I can pick up other websites with similar stations and listen to them. Indeed I can. There's also a Listen Live section and there is an option for high bandwidth for stereo, and that doesn't seem to work either. It's as if IE doesn't want to read that for some reason. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Hi perhaps it would be quite helpful if you call her?
