winamp and in TV

2006-06-17 Thread Richard Quan
Hi,
Has anyone gotten this part of the winamp library to work? It is the area
with the old tv shows; looks really exciting but I can't seem to get it
working with JFW. It seems to cut out the voice. If this has already been
covered, I do appologize.

Re: Help Please with Audegy Card

2006-04-10 Thread Richard Quan
Brian, Thanks for the reply. I can get into the advanced option dialogue
box but not the choice of trebble/bass within it. I'm beginning to think
that perhaps this card is on the cheapper side of things and won't allow me
the ability to change those settings. It could be as well a conflict with
the sound blaster software and drivers which are also installed. I don't
know if it is a corrupted driver though but I wonder if the windows xp
driver for this device is more usable in the circumstances.

 Hi Richard,
Your driver settings may be corrupted so you can't choose to select the
 advance option.

The only solution I know to this is to create a new windows xp user and
move all your old documents and so on, on to that one.

If you have skype you're welcome to contact me for some instructions.

 Best regards
 Brian

 Hi,

I am writing again to ask for your help. If you read on below, you will

some more information about my particular situation. Anyway, I have this
audegy card with 4 jacks. I can't see to get at the bass/trebble

audegy software/drivers installed. Firstly, does anyone know the brand
 of
audegy I have with 4 jacks? Second, how do I get access to the
bass/treabble settings? Finally, is there any way of getting the front
panel jacks working with the audegy card? Thanks.

 Hi,

I just installed an audio audegy sound card and have some questions
 about
configuring it. When I was using my previous sound blaster, I could
 have
 it
play through two sets of speakers, one out of the speakers jack and the
other out of auxiliary I think. With this card, there are 4 jacks from
 what
I can tell; two would be for speakers. I can only get sound out of one
jack. How can I get both speaker jacks working?

I have jacks on my front panel as well. Does this type of card support
 front panel playing?

As well, under the advanced settings of my playback options, I used to
 be
able to adjust bass and treble with the blaster. How come I can't get
 at
that now? The only choice I have is play only digital ... or
 something
 like that.

Finally, what speaker setting should I set for audegy cards. I notice
quad, 5.1 7.1 etc. Which is appropriate? Thanks in advance,

 Richard

Thanks to both of you for the help. I did some reading today and I think I
have an audegy value. The writer from my google search said that it was an
inferior card. perhaps that's my answer. Anyway, I don't know how the
drivers should be corrupted, I reinstalled them but you never know. My
audegy has 4 jacks, is that an audegy value? It also could be a conflict

Re: sigmatel audio help sought

Wow Larry, adding a card would void warranty is rather stringent. How did
you disable the sound chip, did you do it in bios? I suppose that would
have to be the only way as cutting the wires from it would also void things.
I hate it that we can't go into adjust the bios settings; those of us
without vision of course. If anyone has a work around that, I'd be
interested in hearing about it.

Richard, the PC's sound chip is disabled now, as you suggested.
However, as that was the only source for providing sound on
the computer, I had to add a new card. And, since adding a PCI card
would have voided my warranty, I chose to add a USB card. I chose one
from Turtle Beach which is giving me no problems at present. Thanks
 for your input.

Hi Richard. If you want to do line in recordings from cassette or
  turntable,
be careful when choosing a USB sound source as the features do indeed
  vary.
My first choice was the M-Audio card, one that is designed with a
  guitar
input. It is a fine USB device. The problem is that the line in jack is
mono. I've seen another USB card that offered no line in.

My situation is that I want to improve on the intel sound chip that
  came
with my new computer, but it's manufacturer, MDG here in Canada,
  surprised
me with a sticker that warns me not to remove it or I'll void the
  warranty.
So I have to either pay an extra $90 to have them install any new PCI
  card
that I might choose, void my warranty by breaking the sticker's seal or
  go
with a USB card. I'm trying a Turtle Beach card next, and we'll see.

Richard! It's simple to install a new sound device. You could even
get a USB or Firewire device that just plugs in. You don't have to do
anything with your onboard sound device. You could use both it and the
 new
 one simultaneously.

Hi,

I just got a desktop with the sigmatel audio sound built onboard. It's using
the intel audio studio which is totally inaccessible. As well, I am finding
that the microphone volume is very low no matter what I do with the settings in
recording volume in windows xp. Can anyone recommend a better way of using
this device than the intel audio studio and how to improve the sound. As well,
is it very hard to install a sound card and what would I have to do about the
onboard device? Thanks in advance,

Speaker Settings in xp

2006-03-20 Thread Richard Quan
Hi,

I wrote previously about the Intel Audio Studio; guess no one uses it so I
managed to uncheck in startup. My question is now: what is the difference
between the various speaker settings in windows xp; i.e. q5.1 and 7.1
specifically. In any of those, my onboard sound doesn't allow me the chance to
change trebble and bass; what are the corresponding differences in speaker
settings in xp: i.e. chanel 1-4 5-8 etc. Each speaker setting seems to have
different volume configs. Thanks in advance,

Richard

 Richard,

If you have the Direct Sound Output Plug in selected, the surround feature
does work. It sounds very good.

winamp and windows xp

2005-05-25 Thread Richard Quan

Hi,

Anyone having problems with the newest winamp and windows xp. Ever since my
xp updated something, I can't seem to run winamp without it closing and
sending an error report. The only way I got it to play was to change my
display settings. When I changed them to windows classic theme, winamp would
crash on particular files/streams, i.e. acbradio treasuretrouve. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

copying audio cds

2005-04-30 Thread Richard Quan
Hi,
This is a very basic question and I should know the answer to it but I am
wondering what the best method and most accurate is for copying an audio cd
using nero. When I do a disk copy, it sometimes fails. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

HI Richard,
I normally just burn an image of the CD to my HD, then burn that image onto
the blank CD. If you require further detail on how to do this, contact me
and I'd be glad to help.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi,

I seem to remember that there was a list set up for radio
broadcasting/announcements. Does anyone recall what the address of this
list is, thanks.

Thanks, that's terrific. I was actually looking for the blind broadcaster
list but I like the sounds of the others and they would be useful.

Re: New England Patriots Feeds

2004-09-09 Thread Richard Quan
Thanks Ken, just checked, doesn't apear that they stream any more. Oh well,
just going to have to listen to Marve and CBS radio. That's not so bad.
Anyway, the Pats are losing at half time.

  Hi,

Anyone know of a feed for New England of the NFL for to-night's game.
It
would be good to hear a home town feed. Thanks.
