There Is HOPE For Pandora

2011-01-08 Thread Roger R. Cusson

Greetings Folks,

With the very recent initial software release of a truly wonderful Pandora
third party interface known as: HOPE, a blind-friendly approach for Pandora,
we are now on equal footing with all of the other Pandora Radio listeners
out there.

For the uninitiated, Pandora Radio, found at:

http://www.pandora.com

is a very innovative web site, that seeks to allow users to set up various
radio stations, based on their musical preferences, both by individual
artist and or specific genres.

The Pandora radio site is almost completely unusable by blind folks with
screen reading technology, as they rely on Adobe's extensive use of Flash
technology, to deliver all of the usable web content and adjustments to
account options and the music player.

Pandora is much more than just a radio or music web site that actually finds
music based upon your specific and wide ranging solutions but I do not feel
like writing all of that crap out. I am not nearly as good as my friend Hap
Holly, is at spinning a good yarn.

Basically, the visually impaired developer of Qwitter, a third party
application layer gateway for the popular social networking site, Twitter,
has gone and done it again with his extremely unique approach to Pandora.
Based on some Python programming skills, and some excellent use of the
Pandora very secret XML technology, he has made a completely accessible
interface to the Pandora site...

It is $10.00 which seems to be a one time purchase for as many updates as he
can try to write, before his fingers fall off.

The developer, Chris Toth has made a truly usable interface to Pandora. Once
you configure a few stations, either based on artist or genre, you will
never listen to Internet radio quite the same way again. No commercials, no
speaking in between the tracks, just good music of all styles.

Pandora uses your suggestions to essentially pick songs and artists in or
close to the same musical style or genre/sound.

It is unbelievable!!!

Chris with his HOPE application has made the Pandora experience completely
blind-friendly by eliminating having to even use the Pandora site.

A blind user cannot even independently create their initial account on the
Pandora's.com web site. With H O P E, all all all things are usable and all
account creation, and all of the same interactions that a sighted user would
experience, have been built directly into Pandora's third party gateway, H O
P E.

The H O P E program can be found at:

http://q-continuum.net/hope/

I want everyone who is interested to visit Chris's site, and ask him
questions and of course purchase the program to further the development of
HOPE.

Believe me, from a fellow who has used Pandora since 2006, his program was
well worth waiting for.

Check it out, and hope you enjoy the accessible experience that HOPE brings
to Pandora.com

If anyone wants to contact the Pandora support staff, in case they have
questions or want to purchase for 36 bucks per year, a unlimited listening
experience, please e-mail:

supp...@pandora.com

The subscription process is only technically open to U.S. subscribers,
unless, you happen to have a proxy gateway to make it look like you are in
fact in the U.S. That is another discussion for another time...

Respectfully submitted,

gold wave and recording meter query

2010-07-18 Thread Roger R. Cusson

greetings to the list,

does any one, anyone know at all how in later versions of gold wave with the
1.59 jim grimsby scripts loaded which probably do not make a difference to
my question but, any way, does anyone know how to make the gold wave 5.57
meters switch in to that mode by where the meters become accessible to
access technology and further more to that point, does anyone know where to
go and what to do in the gold wave interface to get jaws 10.0 to read the
meter level outputs

any assistance would be much apprreciated.

Magic Jack experiences

2008-10-08 Thread Roger R. Cusson
what are people's total overall experiences with magic jack, from usability
of the interface, sound audio quality, customer service etc...

how is the web site for making changes to the account. i went to the site,
and it had a lot of flash content but seemed to work fine, but not being a
user, not sure how the feature set is controled to forward your number to
another phone or turn on and off services. from a service standpoint, how
does the site or software provided, let the vision impaired user control
what items in their service they wish to have turned on or off?

how does it really sound --- how does it work or not work --- what's the
real deal with magic jack from folks who have actually used it???

if U have not used it, no need to respond with what u assume, if u have
actually used it, what do u really think of the product overall?

what are visually impaired folks thinking about magic jack.

to bruce towes

2007-10-27 Thread Roger R. Cusson
hi bruce, can u please add me to skype as i have some questions that i have
not been able to figure out even after reading chrisses goldwave manual
concerning how to read the recording levels with jaws.

he talks about using the control key but if that key is of course either
pressed or pressed and held, as u know, jaws will stop speaking or try to
execute some script depending on which keystrokes follow the control key --
so, how on earth can some one hit control and still move around to hear
their input or output levels with jfw and jims scripts for 5.22

if u hit control and use arrows to read, even with the jaws cursor
activated , that surely will not work...

in case u want to set me straight, please add:

rcusson

many blessings and thanks for your excellent assistance.

Cool Text-Based TV Guide Listing

2007-08-26 Thread Roger R. Cusson
This is actually a message that I already sent to one of my best friends,
but thought that the meat of the message would also assist other
individuals; that is why the entirety of it appears here beneath. ---

You may or may not remember this discussion!!

Back awhile ago, you had found for me, the exact channel for the Soap
Network, based upon my ZIP Code / Channel Provider!

Remember, I thought it was AWESOME!!

Well, just found a source with a very easy-to-use interface, and although it
is set up for Cell Phone Wireless customers, the web-interface is very,
very, very clean!!!

It has to be, as folks that pay for Cell data, do not want a lot of pictures
and extra junk; after all, they are paying for data on their phones, and
they just want the meat and potatoes of the information in question.

This is the best thing I have found since loaded pizzas, and it works very
well from the PC!!!

http://wireless.tvguide.com/(S(welwue45wqytpj55i24mfq55))/index.aspx

Just click on TV Listings...

Next enter in your ZIP Code, and click the Next Button!

Then, enter your appropriate cable or satellite provider by clicking on the
supplied links, and then you will get a cool text-based listing of the
channel number - the network - and the show or event that is happening at
the hour that you set up. By default, it uses your systems time to determine
the default hour of programming that it will display, but that can be
changed...

A very excellent and very much stripped-down interface...

If you should have any further questions, please don't hesitate to let me
know!!

two second gap

2007-03-30 Thread Roger R. Cusson
greetings folks,

on a live cd or a cd where there are truly two tracks but you want to have
nero 6 treat the tracks as if they were actually one continuous track, which
means not letting the one / 2 second gap actually be heard by the listener,
how or where does one go into nero 6 to disallow the presence of the
infamous annoying 1 / 2 second gap???

I have it set up for disk at once but that in my case does not seem to be
the magic answer...

There may actually be a more in depth setting that I have not yet come
across, and was hoping that some one had actually tryed to get rid of this
gap, and may actually remember how to do exactly this.

e z c d d a

2007-02-06 Thread Roger R. Cusson
does anyone using 10.5 of e z c d d a have difficulty in reading the track
listings

not the artist, album title year but further in there is now a blank area of
the tab order where the titles of the tracks show up.

just curious if this is a problem or if it is just me

e z c d d ay extracter

2007-02-03 Thread Roger R. Cusson
with version 10.5 and i am not sure of any previous versions as i just
jumped on the e z c d d ay band wagon -- in 10.5, once i select my cd-rom
and it finally queries the c d d b
database, i can tab through and hear artist name, album title and year and
genre.

as my friend who has 9.2 tells me, i should be able to hear when tabbing a
few more times, a list of all the tracks and their associated titles and can
even press the space bar to select slash dee-select the associated tracks.

well in 10.5, it is a grid view acording to the jaws window re-class
utility. i have classed that grid view window 30 different ways and still no
joy.

one can click using the jaws cursor on the listing and if that happens then
one is trapped in side of some edit boxes that only populate with the title
of the song, once one clicks on the title header. so, i guess my question
is -- has any one using 10.5 had troubles with reading track titles

replay 8.03

2007-01-10 Thread Roger R. Cusson
i had installed replay 8.03 for a client and what was different about 7 as
opposed to 8 was this new thing which was suppose to help one find streams
more accurately. it was like a second installer popped up and they were
using the nulsoft installer to run this small program. i sure cannot
remember what it is called now but what happens if you do not choose to
install it. they said it was a recommended install but one can sure opt out
of this secondary installer so, what was that small utility called again and
is it really necessary and what does it truly do for us with these web
streams. again this is found in replay 8 . x versions. what do we really
need it for just curious...

pandora dot com

2006-12-29 Thread Roger R. Cusson
does anyone know how to properly read the new account sign up screen on
pandora dot com???

i just heard about it and sure could use some help in filling out the site
account sign up profile.

i managed to find the edit box to initially type in the music artist or song
that started the five or six song sample player but then the sign up screen
came up and the music stopped and the fields are very difficult to fill in
and there are continue or next buttons that do not indicate button at all
but just say next or continue as in words but with no visible attribute
elements for jfw to tell what things are clickable and what things are
simply static text.

in fact the edit boxes for name address and even the initial edit box for
where one types in their favorite song or artist, do not read when using the
left and right arrows to navigate the text inside of their edit boxes on
pandora dot com.

the edit boxes do not seem to be able to be reviewed using the virtual pc
cursor
any help with navigating the site after sign up is completed would also be
helpful, as in how to choose more stations or how to make any necessary
configuration changes would be most helpful

running jfw 7.0 and i e six.

skype 2.5

2006-09-30 Thread Roger R. Cusson
be aware that in this, the very latest version of skype version 2.5.0.146,
during the initial install, you will of course have the language selection
box, the check box for the license accept / decline box and a new friend,
the google tool bar. i happen to not be at all faund of the google tool bar
so, please be aware that there is yet a third check box that your assistive
software should inform you about, it is the google tool bar, and it has up
until this skype version never existed in the installer rooteen up until
this point.

be aware of it, and if you want it, you can leave the box in its default
state which in my case was actually checked or smash your space bar on it,
and uncheck it, and proceed to the finish button to fully set up this new
update of skype 2.5.0.146.

transfering cassette tapes

2006-09-29 Thread Roger R. Cusson
greetings to the list,

a friend of mine wishes to transfer 900 cassette tapes from his current
archival collection.

His analog tape machine just broke, imagine that...

Someone posted about three years ago, a message on this list about a company
that made a sudo tape machine to hook up to the pc directly. my friend does
not wish to purchase another analog tape machine but does want the
convenience of being able to transfer all of his existing library to his pc,
with out the need of patch cables and the most direct method available.

He does have sound forge or goldwave so he can transfer if necessary but i
am not aware of the fact if this unit that i remember has blind friendly or
non blind friendly transferring capabilities or not.

I am not even sure of what this device was but i remember that it was
designed for folks to hook up to their computers and transfer tapes more or
less directly.

please, do respond to my friend mike buzboom off list as he does not wish to
join the pc audio list for just this one question...

mikes e-mail address follows...

They are based out of New York city...

There are three image map links at the bottom of the current site.

the first is for: About Us...

The second is for: Press articles and relations

and the third image map link is for contact us...

there is also an e-mail submition form to learn more about the site but i
have not submitted my e-mail to them.

it will be coming on line officially in december of 2006 and came from a
yahoo article in yahoo entertainment news on the yahoo web site

nero 7 and menus

2006-07-07 Thread Roger R. Cusson
ok folks,

in order to fix my original problem with burning mixed mode cds, I have
switched over to nero 7.2, which probably is just like nero 7.0.

now, when i press the alt key in for example the nero burning rom program,
which is what i mainely use, i get no feedback as to whether or not any menu
has been engaged. for example if i press alt and arrow up and down or left
right, no menus are physically spoken, but, i believe that the menus do pop
up, it is that jfw doesn't take note of them.

now, if i press a true alt f or alt v or alt h or alt and any other
modifier, of course i get menus.

does any one know of any setting in nero, any where, to enable proper screen
reader speaking of menues.

if you are not clear about my question, please let me know, and I will try
to do a better job in re-defining my problem

nero 6 ultra addition

2006-07-05 Thread Roger R. Cusson
hi folks,

does anyone know how to make a successful multi-session CD, using Nero 6
Ultra Addition?

I have an associate in Chicago who has a bunch of audio wave files and quite
a few document files, all needing to be put onto one CD.

The audio files need to play in standard CD players, while the documentation
files need to be able to be accessed by a standard PC.

A multi-session CD is what we need, so that the files will be available in
both environments.

I have read the john wilson tutorial on nero and he claims that in nero 6,
he finds no way to perform a multi session cd, as he claims that it is a
visual thing. i just cannot believe that this is in fact the case, so wish
to know if anyone has in fact tried to burn a multi session cd with nero.

nero and mixed mode

2006-07-05 Thread Roger R. Cusson
i had posted some rather incorrect terminology to a previous message,
concerning nero's ability to burn what i wrote were multi-session cd's.

the correct question, just so i get a correct answer is ---

how does one set up and burn appropriately a mixed mode cd, to facilitate
letting the files which will be both wave and documentation files all reside
and be able to be accessed on that same cd.

is it at all possible to use windows media player either nine or ten, please

to play dvd's and listen to the descriptive audio, if it exists on the dvd

what special codex does one need, and is it absolutely necessary to use win

playing codex be found somewhere thus enabling windows media player with
just some proper codex packs, to play and inter act with dvd's across the

basically is either of the two big boys needed or just a set of properly

i pod shuffle

2005-07-26 Thread Roger R. Cusson
besides the i tunes software, which seems to definitely be needed to talk to
the i pod shuffle, is there some free utility that was discussed on this
list, several weeks ago, which is seemingly more screen reader friendly,
which will allow someone access and the ability to move songs about, when
using the i pod shuffle?

a friend of mine was fairly sure that back awhile ago, some folks were
talking about an alternative to using i tunes but, perhaps both of us are
mistaken?

I remember a thread about in fact how to properly use i tunes with a screen
reader so, just want to find out if there is another software that can do
similar duties?

nero burning rom

2005-05-06 Thread Roger R. Cusson
hi folks
i have a question.
does any one out there use nero burning rom version 6.X?
if so, what is the purpose of this update anti virus scanning option under
the help menu in most of the applications??

i definitely see it under the help menu for nero express, and i am curious
if i have just accidentally installed another virus scanner over the top of
my trend micro pc-cillin 2005 one.

i am very concerned about this presence of update virus options, when i was
suppose to be installing a cd rom recording software package.

can any one please advise

confirm stream loss error

2005-05-05 Thread Roger R. Cusson
every time i try to use the built-in cd recording tool in xp sp2, by right
clicking on a file or folder, going to send-to and then choosing cd
recorder, i get a silly confirm stream loss error, which indicates that the
file will not work if i proceed.

after trying this for 50 files or so, i am convinced that there is some
permissions or security thing in xp sp2, which forces this error to occur.

has anyone tried to burn files or folders in xp sp2 by using the send to
option, under the right click context menu, and not gotten the confirm
stream loss error or does any one know how to resolve this all important
issue?

free reverb

2005-05-02 Thread Roger R. Cusson
i want to make a note,
if anyone tries to register that freeverb dll file, you will have serious
troubles...

if you are running xp, and you wonder why on earth you cannot see the plug
in, it is because the batch file points to c colon back slash windows back
slash system and not the system32 folder.

you had better re-name the path by ending the system with a number 32, and
then you will be golden.

re-name the activate files with a dot txt extension, and open it with note
pad, put the number 32 at the end of the system part, and things will go
like they should.

definitely do remember to re-name them back to just dot bat, before you try
to run them...

i ran mine from the command prompt but, you may be able to run the batch
from the windows view...

i am surprised the person that sent me the file did not pick up on this very
important fact.

Skype and JAWS

2005-02-15 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Hi Listers,

I want to caution anyone wanting to download the latest builds of Skype,
directly from the Skype site. The latest versions of Skype are not yet
supported by Chris Nestrud / Doug Lee, the makers of the Skype Scripts for
JAWS.

On their site, however, you can obtain a slightly older version, 1.0.0.100.
Please use this one, or if you want, I can send you the last build, which
was 1.0.0.106, which was the last 1.xxx build, before version 1.1.xxx of
Skype came out.

If you install the JAWS scripts and the older versions of the Skype program,
things will work as Chriss's documentation describes. If you do not follow
this advice, you will be sadly mistaken, when you install the new versions
of Skype, and things do not work at all as expected.

Those two fine folks are working towards a resolution with the new Skype
versions but --- wait until they are finished.

Anyone wishing to go directly to Chriss's JFW Skype scripts page, please go
to:

Trend Micro House Call

2005-02-09 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Hi Listers,

Marty Rimpau had a question yesterday. His question was, where can we find
trend micro's HouseCall utility?

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Be aware, this is an active X internet explorer component. It will ask you
if you want to install the active x component, of house call. Say yes. After
it is installed, you may wonder why isn't anything happening... Due to the
way that it presents itself, from directly inside of the trend micro web
page, you have to turn on the jaws cursor or whatever the equivalent is for
your particular screen reader. you next have to find the words my computer.
again, they will be on the web page but your virtual cursor will not pick up
the active x smaller interfaced, contained in the window just above the
instructions that you will be sure to see. it is funny, I looked for it for
several minutes before I found it but any way --- back to this ---

providing you have installed the active x component correctly, if you look
around, you will see the words, my computer, you should take your left mouse
emulation key, and click right on the m of my computer, then switch back to
your standard pc type cursor so, you can slide the treeview open, and press
the letter l as in local hard drive. if you have changed the drive letter or
volume label of your main hard drive, pressing l, may not work but, my hd is
local disk c, so, opening up the tree, and pressing letter l, worked just
fine.

once you have told trend micro's house call interface which drive to search
on, switch back to the jaws cursor or equivalent, and just to the left of
the my computer icon that you clicked on earlier in our experiment, you
should find a scan button, again, it was to my left, not too sure if it will
be to the left of the my computer icon for you but, it is imperative that
after you have told it what drive to scan, that you get your mouse pointer
option going, and be sure to locate and then left click the scan button. if
you keep your jaws cursor or mouse pointer turned on, you can see the files
flying by, see the progress and respond to any virus info that it finds.

if you did not understand any of this, sorry...

PC Cillen

2005-02-08 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Greetings to the lists,

I am in a rather serious situation over here.

I have / had several trogens on my main system.

I am currently using Central Command's virus software, called Vexira.

Even it cannot find the two trogens that I know to be out there on the main
box.

It is no big problem, as I know what and where they are on the main system.

I just got off of the Trend Micro House Call site. The House Call Active X
program, which they say is also in the PC Cillen software, found and
completely removed the two offending trogens.

Now for my question---

Is any one on these two lists or does any one know any one that is currently
using or has used Trend Micro's PC Cillen software?
I want to know anything that any one can tell me about these guys. I was
seriously impressed with how House Call found the two trogens. House Call is
a web-based Active X control, which tries to clean your system. Trend Micro
sells PC Cillen, and a host of other corporate virus products.

If any one has ever heard or used Trend Micro's PC Cillen, please respond.

Thank you for your time.

Microsoft Anti-Spyware Preview

2004-12-30 Thread Roger R. Cusson
 functionality that is
included with the Windows XP SP2 version of Internet Explorer; this
 feature lets
you enable or disable Browser Helper Objects and other IE plug-ins.
 However, the
Internet Explorer System Explorer in Giant AntiSpyware also lets you
 permanently
remove such add-ons, which, frankly, is exactly what you need.
There are all kinds of System Explorers in Giant AntiSpyware, and if
 you're interested
in security, you should spend some time here. You can configure such
 things as which
applications run when Windows starts, which ActiveX controls are
 installed, and which
processes are currently running. It's a wonderful set of functionality
 that Microsoft
should bubble up more obviously from within Windows itself.

Other Advanced Tools include System Inoculation, which examines your PC
 for possible
 security holes;
Browser Hijack Restore, which helps restore features of IE that have
 been hijacked
 by malware,
Tracks Eraser, which can be used to remove the history of your
 activities in a
surprisingly wide range of applications and system services, such as
 Adobe Acrobat
 Reader, Microsoft's Windows Common Dialog, the Google Toolbar;
and Secure File Shredder, a wonderful utility that can be used to
 completely eliminate
files from your PC using US Department of Justice (DOJ) recommendations
 for secure
 file destruction.

How this product doesn't have the word suite in its title is beyond
 me.
 AntiSpyware pop-ups
Like a firewall or anti-virus application, Giant AntiSpyware more
 typically makes
itself known by popping up the occasional pop-up window in the lower
 right corner
of your desktop. These pop-ups arrive when the product detects a
 potential spyware
attack, or, by default, when it's completed a spyware scan (you can
 turn that latter
 feature off, which I recommend).
Some of the pop-ups are innocuous. For example, you may upgrade a
 product to a newer
version. In such a case, Giant AntiSpyware will typically note that an
 acceptable
application change has occurred and let you get on with your life
 without having
 to approve the change.

Some of the pop-ups, however, warn of more dangerous problems. Perhaps
 you've navigated
to a malicious Web site that is attempting to install some spyware. Or
 maybe you
or an application is attempting a system configuration change with
 which Giant Spyware
is not familiar. In such a case, you're provided with information about
 the change
and prompted to Allow or Block it.

 Enter Microsoft
So now that Microsoft has purchased Giant and its anti-spyware
 solution, attention
logically turns toward what the company will do with it. Previously,
 Microsoft had
revealed that it would release an anti-spyware solution in 2005, a year
 ahead of
the mid-2006 release of Longhorn (where its anti-spyware solution was
 originally
set to appear). The company has internal anti-spyware and malware
 projects, codenamed
Strider and GhostBuster, respectively, which would have fulfilled those
 goals, and
sources I've spoken with suggest that Microsoft understands, perhaps
 better than
anyone, how today's malicious spyware is now hooking into Windows
 systems and intends
 to rectify that situation.

To date, Giant AntiSpyware has been made available as a yearly
 subscription fee,
and my expectation is that Microsoft will continue using that model.
 However, that
isn't, in my opinion, what the company should do. Instead, I'd like to
 see Microsoft
offer Giant AntiSpyware free to all Windows users, as a benefit of
 using their OS.
Frankly, it is the architectural problems in Windows that lets spyware
 and other
malicious malware infect users' systems, and Microsoft should fix that
 problem for
free. For now, the software giant says it hasn't yet decided on
 licensing and pricing.
Time will tell, of course. I'll be talking to Microsoft soon about its
 anti-spyware
plans, and the company will ship a public beta of its Giant
 AntiSpyware-derived anti-spyware
solution before the end of January 2005, so I'll be looking at that to
 see whether
it's any different from the product I'm already using. When those
 events transpire,
I'll update this preview as needed. In the meantime, I'm ecstatic that
 Microsoft
purchased Giant. They made the right decision about the anti-spyware
 solution acquisition.
Let's hope the good decision making continues.

Sound Cards And Jaws

2004-12-17 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Hi List,

Can any one tell me if that little external USB sound card that Creative
Labs is making, will not have that dreaded eloquence crackle that most of
the creative cards have? I think Patric Perdue has this small external USB
2.0 card unit, and perhaps he can tell us if the eloquence problem exists on
that USB device, and maybe some other cool or not so cool features and sound
quality specks on this USB external Sound Blaster.

Any help or information about sound quality, and features and eloquence
crackeling would be most helpful to me...

can get back to them, when you return to your work station...

Hey Folks,

I have a previous version of Skype. It was the version that came out last
week. 1.0.0.94. Of course, version 97 is now out.

I want to know if anyone knows if doing a clean install of new versions of
Skype is necessary or if Skype users generally install their new versions
directly over the top of the old ones?

I am not a fan of the latter method, however, I see no way to save my

at the same time, save my contact list, I would truly be appreciative...

I was not in the office at the time of Jonathan's interview with Steve
Timmer. I want to know how or if I might be able to catch a repeat or some
archive or even some one to give me the gist of what Steve and John
discussed about Steve's CD writing package.

MSN Plug ins

2004-10-06 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Does anyone out there have the small MSN Messenger plug-in, which is of
course no longer available?

I have a few clients that wish to speak via their microphone and check their
mail, via messenger. There use to be a way to get the little plug-in. It is
no longer available.

If any one ever saved that small plug- in on their system, and can forward
it to me, I would be forever greatful.

MSN add-in

2004-10-06 Thread Roger R. Cusson
I just wanted to make my message of earlier a bit clearer.

When one first installs Win XP, they have already, a program called Windows
Messenger. When they next try to do something that needed an add-on
component, they use to be directed right to the add-in site, and receive a
small file, to voice chat, check e-mail and anything else that could not be
done with out the use of that special add-in component.

It is that small file which use to be a *.EXE installer. You would click on
it after the download, and instantly, all features of the windows messenger
would be available.

I need to get this plug in if at all possible. please help

Kazaa Lite 0.76D URL Change

2004-08-20 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Hi my friends,

I sincerely apologize for the bad URL. I went to the properties of the URL
from the page where the Kazaa Lite URL was listed. This sometimes seems to
not be good, as sometimes links do not seem to work that way.

A very nice person that manages the JFW Lite web site has saved me yet
again, and she has put the program URL on her page. She has actually placed
the Kazaa Lite newest version at the JFW Lite site.

go to:

http://www.jfwlite.com

click on the programs link, and find the link for Kazaa Lite 0.76D.

If you use a screen reader, and it has the ability to put up a list of
links, get that going, and press k or ka and you should be able to jump to
it. If not, simply scroll down her page, and you will find the kazaa lite
home page, the actual program, and various versions of scripts for JFW which
support Kazaa Lite.

Again, I am very sorry for this little problem but thank you ever so much to
the fine folks that manage the JFW Lite home page.

Kazaa is still very much up and rockin so, give it a try please.

Kazaa Lite Direct Link

2004-08-20 Thread Roger R. Cusson
In a previous message, I had just posted a link to the JFW lite main page,
and I want to thank those folks one more time for setting me straight...

I will paste the link to their file, which seems to work very well, when I
click on it. In case I am wrong yet again, you have the message concerning
the JFW Lite main page. Here we go with the direct link to the great file
sharing program, Kazaa Lite.

Kazaa Lite

2004-08-10 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Hi List,

For several months, I have been hearing many users say that they are very
dissatisfied with Kazaa Lite, and its serious lack of users or lack of file
content.

I too was in that same boat, and decided to do something about it.

The first thing I did is to go to:

http://users.telenet.be/mavol2/private/KLR0075(www.filesharingplace.com).exe

And then to:

http://users.telenet.be/mavol2/private/KLR0076-updater(www.filesharingplace.com).exe

Now, You have to get the first file, which is the 0075.exe, and then
install it, then, get the second file, which is the 0076.exe and then
install that one.

You will be up-to-date.

After the installation of the 0076.exe file is complete, you will get a
message concerning magnet links. This is just how kazaa works with other
web-sharing systems. You can choose to say yes or no, to the prompt of
registering magnet links with kazaa. I did choose to do this but, either
way, it will not cause the kazaa lite program to function improperly.

The next thing to note, is that there are still the silly script error pop
up messages, when you fire up Kazaa Lite every time. The home page must be
messed up so, simply go under the kazaa lite options and change your start
page to whatever you wish. I have mine set to google but no matter.

Now if you still see limited amount of users or files, simply mash the enter
key on the option located under the file menu for -- jump super node.

Jump super node will simply move you to another more populated node. These
options are in all versions of kazaa but, I wanted to make sure that
whatever the author did to fix any bugs, that I had the latest versions
installed on my system.

Again, I still will sometimes see low amount of users but, after jumping
around a bit, it is very common for me to see the 2 or 3 milion users that I
was accustomed to seeing a few months ago.

If you still like kazaa, please give all this a try. I am happy once again.
And have no problems with finding those hard to find files.

RealAudio QuickTime

2004-06-30 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Hi Folks,

I need specific information as to where I may be able to obtain a RealAudio
replacement, and a QuickTime replacement program.

I mean to say that, I would like to know if anyone has ever written a set of
programs to still play RealAudio content, and if so, what its limitations
may be.

I also wish to know if anyone has ever written a replacement for the popular
Apple QuickTime format.

This is necessary for me to know as soon as folks can drop me a line.

Thank you so very much for all list help

SAPI Five With Win XP

2004-06-29 Thread Roger R. Cusson

Hi Folks,

I need to understand something here...

First, let me say that I have Win XP Service Pack One. As some of you may be
aware, XP comes with a built-in speech option, called Narrator

It gives you the Microsoft Sam voice by default!!!

I need to understand why I cannot seem to add the SAPI five point one TTS
engine on XP. I have installed the SAPI five point one version, and it did
not give any error, however, no good, folks. I still only have the Microsoft
Sam voices. I can not seem to get JAWS to use anything else, as there is
nothing else to use, when looking in the voices combo box. Now, another
thought, I have Ventrilo, which is an Internet Chat Client. I wonder if the
new SAPI five point one multi-voice option would have only been applicable
to other programs that need it. It should be noted that in the control panel
of XP, even after installing the new SAPI five point one engine, there was
still only one voice option, you guessed it, Microsoft Sam. He was the only
default voice contained in the speech option of the XP control panel.

Is the SAPI five point one TTS engine usable under XP or does the fact that
Narrator is installed, and has already a TTS engine on him, causing my
problem?? Please help.
