On your computer use the audible manager. On phones, you can use an
app.

re audible books for dane

2013-12-19 Thread brian parker
Hi dane, thanks for your message. my computer crashed a few days ago,
and it had to be brought back with the recovery disc. this meant that
i lost several programmes. i had been using sound taxi to convert
audible files in to mp3. sound taxi uses itunes. itunes was one of
the programmes i had to reinstall. sound taxi can't use the itunes i
now have loaded. now when i call up itunes, it says that it can't
reach the itunes library, as it was created by a newer version of
itunes. presumably, it means a newer version than the one i have now
installed. why the library from the previous version of itunes is
still hanging about, i don't know. well, there it is. i have sent a
message to audible. the first message i sent they answered quickly.
they asked me a number of questions, which i answered in my second
message. they also suggested that we might find it quicker to gets
things right, by phone. however, when i have spoken to audible in
the past, i have found them difficult to understand, especially as
the person at the other end is always to quiet. i don't know what to
do. i wondered if there is some way of destroying the library from
the previous version of itunes. perhaps then it would look for its
own library. brian.

RE: AUDIBLE BOOKS

2013-05-08 Thread Stephen Guerra
Since the new update has not been released, making the statement you made
that Audible support will not be supported is probably a statement best left
for HumanWare to make.
Audible has stated that it will continue to support the VR Stream new
edition in a public released statement.

2013-05-06 Thread Blackwell, Clifford
Do you have the softpack for the Stream? I presume this is a first generation
stream. If you don't have the softpack, the enhanced audio format is not
supported by the Stream. If you do have the softpack, I'm not sure why the
Audible book won't play.

I believe you can format the card through the Stream. I know you can format
the card with an external disc reader.

To convert those files into mp3 is a violation of your Audible terms.
There are many players which can play Audible files, and the computer can
use either Audible's Desktop Player or Windows Media Player, and so there
are many options.

Getting audible books to work on mp3 player

2008-10-20 Thread Brandon Hicks

Hi all,
I have an MP3 player that doesn't work with Audible. However, I'm
thinking of getting an account. My question is, is there a way to get
the audible books to work on this player?
EMail me offlist if necessary. I know there was discussion a while back
on how to do this, but I'm thinking things may have changed since then,
so if anyone can tell me the current methods, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Thanks

I did speak to Audible's tech support people. They claim that the only way
to burn an audible book is with Nero. I did look at Nero 7, but aside from
its ability to burn Audible books, I don't see what it can do for me that 6
can't. I burn CDs only, and if 7 produces a superior CD, I can't see how. I
also can't see purchasing 7 when 8 is just around the corner. Guess we'll
see what it has to offer wwhen they trot it out.

2007-09-30 Thread Larry N
Hi, actually it's my understanding that they don't have a trial version
available as yet. If you want to purchase the program at the reduced price,
you would be doing so in advance of release, and with no demo to try before
you buy. That's why I would hesitate. There's no guarantee that I would be
able to use the program once purchased. Probably, but not definitely. I've
been burned often enough to hesitate, ya know?

Do you have to use the audible manager to transfer the files to the zen

was that an audible book, or an mp3 book. Audible books keep
 their

At 08:58 PM 9/25/2007, Julie Tom spake thusly:- the 1 gig

  pause or
power down, but if you change folders, it takes you back to the
  beginning of
the folder. For instance, I had a book on mine, under the

the folder, adn music on the rest, but If I switched form the
  book to the

RE: zen stone and audible books

2007-09-26 Thread Caroline Ford
I believe the Zen Stone only plays formats 2 and 3, but as I don't use
Audible myself, I'm unable to vouch for this.

Caroline.

You must use the Audible Manager. And you'll have to activate the Zen
Stone in the Audible Manager.

Hi there,
Cool, I am so glad to hear that it plays audible books. I never knew
that!
One question:
Do you have to use the audible manager to transfer the files to the zen
stone, or can you just do it using windows explorer?

Thanks,
Chris

 Hello there,

I also own the zen stone 1 gig MP3 player, and yes, it will keep its
place within an MP3 file as long as you do not change folders.
This definitely comes in handy when listening to an audio book.
As far as I know, this player will not play audible books.

 Hope this helps,
 Chris

was that an audible book, or an mp3 book. Audible books keep
 their
place, even if you've opened and bookmarked seven or eight of them.

At 08:58 PM 9/25/2007, Julie Tom spake thusly:- the 1 gig
zenstone, will put you back in the same place if you
  pause or
power down, but if you change folders, it takes you back to the
  beginning of
the folder. For instance, I had a book on mine, under the
 book
  title as
the folder, adn music on the rest, but If I switched form the
  book to the
music and back, it went to the beginning of the book.

I don't think the Zen Stone 2 gig version, called the Zen
  Stone Plus, is
as
easy to use. It does have menus that the regular 1 gig Stone
  does not
have.

It has FM and voice recording. without dedicated controls.
  I've been
hoping
someone would learn the menu structure and see if it is a good
  or bad one
for blind users.

Admin: recording Audible Books wit roxio 6 or Nero

2005-08-18 Thread Jeff - The Ultra Guy
Let me remind everyone that any sort of discussion about defeating
encription or digital rights protection is not allowed on this list.
It's legal to burn audible programs to audio CD and that may be
discussed here, but please do not discuss any illegal copying of
files.

Thank you,

Why does goldwave have this ability though? Someone told me once that I
could open audible files in goldwave. I didn't believe them, but low and
behold, it works!

Yup, from what I can tell you can rip your book as an audio cd that plays
in a standard player, but you aren't able to save them as an mp3 file and
burn them to a cd or a dvd.

Good ole digital rights management at work again.

Hello List!

I have a subscription to Audible books and have purchased and downloads
many titles. I have installed the Audible player and it says I can record
my Audible books onto CD's that will play in normal players. I have tried
to use the Audible recording features, bu never can get it done.

My question is: How do I record my Audible books onto DVD's or CD's for
future playback and storage? I have Roxio 6 and Nero. Each time I try it
in Audible, it tells me no recorder is selected or something. It would be
easier to do it in Roxio or Nero.

I would like to put them on DVD's because I probably could get most of my
books on one DVD each. then I'd like to be able to put them in a DVD
player or CD player and have them play. Now, the books are in the Audible
player in-box and in a folder somewhere on my system.

Give me a step-by-step approach to recording them. I am not trying to
break any Audible codes or anything; I just want to record my own
purchased books onto DVD/CD as Audible says I can with their blessing. I
hope someone can help me.
