Re: How does one Cross-fade in Winamp 5.x

No problem. You might still have problems if you have gaps at the end or
beginning of files. There some settings to tweek that but I'm not completely
sure how it's done. I believe it can be done inside the plugin just like
crossfading.

2007-09-20 Thread Rick Alfaro
Brett,

Bingo!

That last explanation did the trick. I actually have it cross fading now.
The only thing I have to figure out is why occasionally it doesn't do it.
Doing it this was has the advantage of still being able to use the alternate
volume control so one can control the volume of the music separately from
that of a software synth. Thanks for the assistance.

Ok let me see if I can clear this up. In the fading tab there are several
options for fading. These are like checkboxes, you can check and uncheck as
many as you want. The crossfading happens when you have (i believe) fade on
start and fade on and check fade on end of song. At that point you have to
find the fade length that works for you. Yes we are talking about the same
feature. I used sqr for a few years but I started getting frustrated because

it would crash with certain DSP plugins.
You also might want to try typing in google something like how to crossfade

in winamp I have found some of my best technical support from just a google

box
Hope this helps.

Rick, Ok download this one and just run the executable. It should set up
the sqrsoft plug-in automatically. You will need to run the executable once
downloaded and it will put the dll in your winamp folder under plug-ins.
If it doesn't set the plugin open preferences in Winamp with control + P,
arrow to the output plugin, tab twice to the list and select it.
The default settings should work well.

Ok folks sorry for the lack of knowledge here, but I am starting to use
Winamp to pipe music to me setup in the living room via an FM transmitter
and have some great play lists put together. Now I would like to have the
next song in the play list fade in before the current song is finished
playing. I may even have the current song fade out a bit as well while
 the
next song fades in, but I can't seem to figure out how to accomplish this
 in
Winamp 5.35. I remember there used to be a cross-fade option in Winamp
preferences back in the 2.x days, but it doesn't seem to be there any
 more.
Can someone that knows what they are doing point me in the right
 direction?
I only want to use one copy of Winamp and would rather not have to run 2
instances of Winamp to do this. I know this used to be possible with one
copy of Winamp, within the current play list. Thanks in advance for any
hints on this. If there is a Winamp plug-in that will do this, that would
 be fine as well.

For those using the Audiophile 2496 and other sound cards that can play 24
bit audio, this plug in only supports 16 bit. To use this plugin, it is
necessary to disable 24 bit playback in winamp.

I liked how it nicely faded things. It was so slick and the interface was
highly configurable. However, i really missed the enhanced sound quality
of 24 bit audio and much superior sound quality. What a tough choice to

Subject: How does one Cross-fade in Winamp 5.x

Ok folks sorry for the lack of knowledge here, but I am starting to use
Winamp to pipe music to me setup in the living room via an FM
 transmitter
and have some great play lists put together. Now I would like to have
 the
next song in the play list fade in before the current song is finished
playing. I may even have the current song fade out a bit as well while
 the
next song fades in, but I can't seem to figure out how to accomplish
 this
 in
Winamp 5.35.
I know this used to be possible with
 one
copy of Winamp, within the current play list. Thanks in advance for any
hints on this. If there is a Winamp plug-in that will do this, that
 would
 be fine as well.

Dave, many thanks. I'm off to grab it now. Sounds like the perfect
solution. I'll let you know how it works out here.

You have successfully uploaded a file called
SqrSoft_Advanced_Crossfading_Output.exe (72 KB), to sendspace.
You can use the following link to retrieve your file:

Rick, When I started using Winamp back in the 90s I tried using its
crossfading capabilities (so-called) but never got satisfactory results. So

I started using the SQR Advanced Crossfading plug-in and am still using it.
If you're interested I can send you a link to it.

I don't think it is worth downloading the sqr plugin anymore. Winamps output
plugins are all customizable for fading. You just have to find the right
numbers and mix of fading that you want. It works a lot bett since version 2
hope this helps

RE: How does one Cross-fade in Winamp 5.x

2007-09-16 Thread Rick Alfaro
The plug-in is working great and I like the different presets. The only
minus I am seeing is that it disables your ability to use the alternate
volume control method which allows you to adjust the volume of the music
without affecting the volume of your speech, not a problem for anyone using
an external synth of course. Other than that, it is an awesome plug-in.
Not a problem though as I just switch to the cross fade plug-in when I am
going to do strictly listening like in another room or something.
