I used to use Nero as far back as Nero 7 and loved it, but versions after that became very bloated and inaccessible. Is the latest version accessible again? Re: Follow-up: Free CD Ripping Software
In the beginning - a very long time ago - I too used Nero but I found that it had problems when reading CD’S so a couple of people who are in the “Ripping Game”, then put my on to Exact Audio Copy which was written by a computer programmer who loves his music. The reason he wrote Exact Audio Copy was because of the fact that most CD Rippers don’t read the content of a CD byte for byte, they skip over errors on the CD, they don’t try and recover from reading CD errors and so on. Fortunately there are several utilities around that are equal or come close to what Exact Audio Copy does, for Windows there’s Easy CD Converter and for the Mac there’s XLD and Max, others for LYNUX of course. I'm glad you've found what you need. I use Easy CD Converter when I'm ripping under Windows these days but that's not all that often at all as I''m mainly on the Mac and Easy CD Converter - to my knowledge at least - is still not free though worth every penny I've paid for it, a piece of software which has very much surprised me in the way its come forward in leaps and bounds since I first saw it. Dan, I got in on this thread very late. Frankly, as I see it, the best and most accessible free burning program is called burnaware free. The current version 7.x is not accessible; however, prior versions are very accessible. If interested, I'll be glad to send it to you for evaluation. I would be glad to send you the link if you wish. Re: Follow-up: Free CD Ripping Software
Okay, I've been playing with Windows Media Player for the last half hour or so and I'm using NVDA on the Windows Desktop computer here, I'm running Windows media Player 12 with Windows 7 Home Premium. Yes, the software is certainly accessible though finding your way around Winodws Media player could be a little challenging at times I admit, the trick is to think outside the square, in other words don't assume that everything you want is in the menu bar because it isn't, you can make things a little easier by changing some of the options in the view menu. Anyway to get back to the specific topic of Ripping CD'S with WMP, this link may be of some use. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/rip-music-faq#1TC=windows-7 On 3/11/2014 3:42 AM, Tom Kaufman wrote: Well that was my experience (Windows Media 12 does seem to work differently than Windows Media 11 (doesn't seem as cut and dry as 11 waas!
