RE: Looking for Info on meeting Accessible Internet Broadcasting Needs
Just as an aside I actually used winamp to do a live program for both WQNA FM and WTND/LP FM I streamed to them at 160 44.1 and it worked well 99 percent of the time. Ray T. I'm on an e-mail list for broadcast engineers and I can ask which file format is preferred if you want to record your program and send the file to them. I think most stations have an FTP site that programs can be sent to, then the station just programs the file into their automation system. Many blind people use StationPlaylist to broadcast over the Internet. Years ago there was a Main Menu program on ACBRadio explaining how to use Winamp for the same purpose. Stations don't usually like live programming sent to them over the public Internet. The other methods, ISDN or satellite get expensive. Tom ** Your Message ** Hi. I have it in mind to market a syndicated show to Internet radio stations. Content will consist of music and my voice. The microphone is not an issue. Beyond that, my problem is that I don't know where to start when it comes to what I need in order to use the computer to perform and record my audio. For instance, as a DJ, what's the best way to get music onto the computer while making it flow as one would a traditional radio show? Hardware? Software? Additionally, I'm not certain of the best tools to use for getting my audio to the online stations who will play it. Using either windows or the Mac, what would you suggest for any aspect of my project. As a blind person on a bit of a budget, I am seeking accessible ideas that are as economical as possible. I do a Psychology program for RadioGeneral an online radio station; use Goldwave to record and edit it, and then send off to the station. Good luck! Re: Looking for Info on meeting Accessible Internet Broadcasting Needs
Hi Tom. I would think that my show would be best offered as recorded, allowing the Internet stations that make up my target market to run them when they wish. There's also the possibility of something going wrong during a live show and I'm not looking for that sort of adventure. :) If you can learn what format is generally preferred by stations, that would be a huge help. I would really appreciate it if you would ask the question. I will look into Station Playlist. Do you know if it facilitates playing tracks back to back directly from the computer? Or will I need another music source, such as a CD player or whatever? Thanks again for your very helpful reply. Thanks Gera. GoldWave is an old friend and certainly would work well in the mix. Great suggestion. RE: Looking for Info on meeting Accessible Internet Broadcasting Needs
If you are going to do it live to a few radio stations, I suggest using Station Playlist Studio; if you are going to prerecord programs, I suggest using Gold Wave; both are very accessible with JAWS. After recording and editing them, you would normally use an FTP, or mos likely an SFTP program to upload it to each station; for that I suggest Win SCP.
