Johnny, I only check this email address once every week or two, so I apologize for the delayed response. Please add my name to your list of interested users of stand-alone editing machines. You might also like to contact the Dancing Dots company. They distribute products for blind musicians--their website is www.dancingdots.com, and their phone number is 610 783-6692. You should also contact the midimag list; I don't know their address, but you can google it. For an immediate response, you can email me at aud...@ajlmusic.org and/or you can call me at 212 995-1137. Good luck. Audrey Levine To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Re: digital multi track recording
Hi everyone. My name's Danny Miles, and I'm a UK citizen whose new to the list. Apologies if I cover something mentioned somewhere else, but I'm just catching up. Yes, I'd love to see multi-track recording hardware with speech, and would be pleased to give my support in any way I can (afraid I'm not knowledgeable enough to make suggestions, but would be pleased to act as a tester etc). As I've never had a Mac I use Goldwave, but have never heard of Multiquence until I joined this list (more info on where to obtain it and any tutorials would be gratefully received). I'm also a traditionalist who likes to carry out recording without worrying about technology, and a good piece of hardware would be great for me in several ways. I'm a budding journalist, and even if I never end up doing this in a professional capacity, I will be spending plenty of time making programmes and documentaries for voluntary radio. I also have a history as a drummer and local band manager - booking gigs etc - but I've never been able to assist with the production of EPs due to a lack of knowledge about accessible multi-track recording hardware/software. I used to record the occasional thing with a minidisc recorder (you'll be pleased to know I've advanced to an Olympus digital recorder since those teenage days of mine), but this obviously meant that I could only take a straight recording so I wasn't able to do very much. Hi Johnny: I would be interested in a recorder that is accessible. I currently am using the R09HR but menus are not accessible as far as I'm concerned. There are button sequences that you can memorize to get the recorder adjusted to the needs of the recording that I would be doing, but I tried them with limited success and I would prefer speech. If Tascam is going to make a accessible recorder please keep me informed. Hey Johnny, you have my vote. I use a tascam 2488 and love it, it's an awesome unit. In fact i find stand alone editers like thsi much easier to use than PC or mac based ones cause you have dedicated functions for certan things. Email me back privately, would love to work with you on this. I've never had the pleasure of using a Tascam recorder..but sounds like it'd be fun (if they weren't too expensive)..as I understand it, they're great for putting multiple tracks of music (one can do their own one-man-band thing! Re: digital multi track recording
High Johnny, Right now, I am using an 8 track recorder that I have had for more then 15 years. I've seen the digital 4 8 16 and 32 track recorders in music stores. But always shied away from them. I can't use it if I can't see what's coming up on the digital display. So if a company made a 4 to 32 track recorder that talks, I'd gladly retire my old 8 track recorder and buy a 32 track recorder that talks. So be sure to add my name to the list. My full name is: John Price. But my screen name on the radio is: DJ Dr. P.] They can email me at: djdoct...@att.net My best regards. Re: digital multi track recording
Hi Johnny. I think it would be good if you could sell them on the design but make it so anyone would want one, not just blind people. Exclusivity just costs to much and won't sell well. It would be wonderful if we could create designs that would appeal to anyone plus blind users. I sure wish we could get together in real time and do some designing. This email forum isn't working for building designs and products that are blind friendly. I finally have Skype so I'm thinking I'd like to do some brain storming with people who really believe we can actually design and produce blind friendly music gear. You know, so much stuff is almost there, they just don't connect the dots. Figure out the easiest path to make an existing design more accessible instead of starting from scratch. Or, start from scratch and avoid all the baggage.
