RE: Exposure Vs. Exhibition

I think Double Exposure is perfectly ok and would probably be
understood in context - presumably the introduction sets it in
context. Double Exhibition doesn't really work for me.

 Subject: Exposure Vs. Exhibition

 Hi all,

I have to translate into English an introduction to a
 picture exhibition by
a dear friend of mine. The problem is that the Italian title
 he has chosen
sounds like Double Exposure, which in Italian language can
 of course be
understood like a double esposure and like a double picture
 exhibition as
well (the latter actually being the main nuance of that
 headline). However,
I'm afraid that Double Exposure won't be perceived as a
 double exhibition
in English. In fact, my friend is the author of the pictures
 while his
daughter wrote captions and little poems supporting the
 pictures, hence
Double Exhibition makes more sense than Double Exposure.
How would you title that? Is there a way to keep the double meaning?

 Thanks a lot.

 Dario

My experience is that unless you have a higher-end Canon or the Nikon

Doesn't look bad, Jack, but lost too many dark tones in building and ground,
so I'd probably add darken highlights or increase contrast on mid tones
(pretty conversant with PS E 5, someday gonna get as conversant with PS CS#.
:-))
But you see, the problem with the tree tops is why I don't want to do a
selection on the sky, cleaning that up takes too much time. As it was,
converting
to BW I still had some haloing around the tree tops, so had to go in and
burn at about 10% around their edges to get rid of it.

I'll play with it though. Downloaded a copy of yours to my computer so you
can take it down now.

I think my big question now is if I straighten out the end of the building
(on the right). The lines of the end post and building could be a bit
straighter. I am thinking of distorting and bringing the bottom corner down a
bit so
it's more a triangular wedge (whole building). Tried that already on another
version and looks fine.

Not sure that's what William meant about playing with the perspective
though. :-)

Actually for spooky effect the darker sky is better. Hadn't really thought
of that until Roman and Derby pointed it out, though.

Thanks for your effort, flattering/nice when someone takes the time.

Re: PESO - Times Gone By

2008-02-02 Thread Jack Davis
The building is, of course, doing a mild amount of common lean back and
away from the camera. To my eye, however, it carries through the entire
building. Guess I'm so used to seeing such that it doesn't bother me in
this limited degree. In some cases it adds to the drama of a structure.

Doesn't look bad, Jack, but lost too many dark tones in building and
 ground,
so I'd probably add darken highlights or increase contrast on mid
 tones
(pretty conversant with PS E 5, someday gonna get as conversant with
 PS CS#. :-))
But you see, the problem with the tree tops is why I don't want to
 do a
selection on the sky, cleaning that up takes too much time. As it
 was, converting
to BW I still had some haloing around the tree tops, so had to go
 in and
burn at about 10% around their edges to get rid of it.

I'll play with it though. Downloaded a copy of yours to my computer
 so you
 can take it down now.

I think my big question now is if I straighten out the end of the
 building
(on the right). The lines of the end post and building could be a
 bit
straighter. I am thinking of distorting and bringing the bottom
 corner down a bit so
it's more a triangular wedge (whole building). Tried that already on
 another
 version and looks fine.

Not sure that's what William meant about playing with the
 perspective
 though. :-)

Actually for spooky effect the darker sky is better. Hadn't really
 thought
of that until Roman and Derby pointed it out, though.

Thanks for your effort, flattering/nice when someone takes the time.

I finally got around to trying that technique where you turn the zoom ring
while the shutter is open. Plus, I really practiced with PSE 5 level
adjustments and adding grain (why should Frank have all the grain-fun).

K10D, DA* 50 - 135, shutter exposure was 2 seconds at f16, ISO 100. Auto
levels, some sharpening, and grain. I focused at 50mm then turned the ring
while the shutter was open to finish in 2 seconds at 135mm.

Re: OT Fargo ND

North Bob.

Oh i;m back btw.

Never did make it to Fargo. We ran out of time Friday, and had to park
the loads for the weekend at the Mich/Wis border along highway 28 in
the UP, at Ironwood..

They can not travel on the weekend in Wis, and they did not want to
pay for us to stay for the 2 days, so we came home.

Real pain these over sized loads in Mich with all of the restrictions.
I think they are looking at a route along Northern Ontario to Minny
then to Fargo. Mich restricts to 35mph.

Again permit problems led us to a lot of hurry up an wait time. Two
days to go from Ft Erie to Pt Huron.

There are 38 loads to take, so hopfully i can do a few more before i
hear about the bus, but from what i hear from the company owners, they
would like it if i stayed on. Not sure if i will. I really am to
panicy for leading, and atleast one owner seems to be on my side.

Time will tell

I find zoom flower 3 interesting and attractive. This kind of work is
tough in terms of getting good results. But you've succeeded to a
degree. That's an achievment.

I finally got around to trying that technique where you turn the
 zoom ring
while the shutter is open. Plus, I really practiced with PSE 5 level
adjustments and adding grain (why should Frank have all the grain-
 fun).

 K10D, DA* 50 - 135, shutter exposure was 2 seconds at f16, ISO
 100. Auto
levels, some sharpening, and grain. I focused at 50mm then turned
 the ring
while the shutter was open to finish in 2 seconds at 135mm.
