RE: OOPS!!
I can't relate a story about falling, but how about sitting in a loo in Xi'an, China, camera bag neatly slung from the hook on the back of the door to prevent it's being dragged out under the door and walked away with: watch in horror as hook breaks in half, sending bag with MZ-S, FA28-105, Sigma 18-35, AF330FTZ flash, etc, down on to concrete floor? Lens hood and filter ring on the Sigma bent, FA 28-105 internal zoom collar bent out of shape, nice scuff mark on corner of MZ-S. RE: PESO - Outside the Basel Munster
From:Rick Womer Subject: PESO - Outside the Basel Munster I'm not sure about this one. I like the cobblestones and the stone walls and the way they interact, but it comes together rather busily. Or maybe that's good. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=10204532 (K10D, DA 16-45) Rick I see what you mean Rick, but I think the way the cobbles and the stone walls come together works well. I did wonder whether a bit of cropping of the foreground cobbles might help tidy it up a bit, but they're interesting in their own right so that might remove something. The perspective of the series of round arches through the pointed one is particularly strong. Overall an excellent shot. Re: PESO - Sunrise, St. Andrew's Bay
Glad you like the series, folks. I plan to post, on average, one pic per day of landings. Some days had several memorable landings, so there's stuff that won't be covered. Some landings did not produce any outstanding, either. Jack, regarding this image, I _muted_ the colours rather than inflating them. The K-7 expose to put the weight of the histogram as far to the right as it can. In situations where the contrast is lower than the CMOS sensor's latitude, it means the colours look a bit washed-out even though they're actually quite saturated. When reducing exposure and/or increasing contrast, it also becomes necessary to tweak saturation. Usually down. :-) Quite unfamiliar situation for me, a sucker as I am for strong colours. But the K-7 is one very cleverly thought-out camera, I think. To me it's Pentax best camera since 645ii. Re: OT - Pain
If it is infected, it is septic arthritis, not bursitis. It would be hot, red, and tender. The usual approach on this side of the pond is to draw some of the fluid out of the joint to see if it is full of white blood cells, and culture it to see what bacteria grow; then prescribe antibiotics accordingly. Bursitis is tennis elbow--not as painful, not hot and red, sometimes a bit tender, and not responsive to antibiotics. Our Ginger bloke (seen here doing the gardening: http://members.optusnet.com.au/~paulewins/resources/photos/peri%20in%20pot%202.jpg) is coming up 15 and will still dash around now and again. He's now on tablets for a Thyroid condition and medicated food to prevent urinary tract problems but is basically healthy and happy. Bob Sullivan wrote: Mark, Like Christine said... Isn't 16 years a pretty long life for a cat? It's not that out of line for an indoor-only moggy. Pure bred animals tend not to live as long, and being and outdoor kitty definitely reduces average life span, for city kitties, anyway. I've had one live to nearly 20, another to 17 and a bit, and I've got two 12-year-olds in the house now. -- Thanks, DougF (KG4LMZ) -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

I currently (she's still at my ex', but I hope to have her back in a month or two - long story) have a mixed breed cat who's 20 (or possibly even 21 - when I got her in '96 her previous owner said she was 6 or 7, I can't remember which. She's in remarkably good shape for her years. Alert, still jumps relatively well, runs about every so often, even plays once in a while (when she feels like it every few days or so). Might have a bit of arthritis in her rear hips and her kidney and liver counts are high (but not shockingly so according to the vet), but for her age she's doing great.
