How to present photo series?
Dear All, I am trying to figure out how people a) present (long) photo series on the web (as photographers), and b) prefer how photo series are presented (as viewers) So, basically, I am trying to figure out what reasonable options are available, and what people actually prefer while looking at somebody's else photos. Here is why these questions came up. I was shooting photos at a Magic Bubble show (which is a fun event!) at our Physics Festival. This resulted in a lot photos that are essentially series with a progression of shots where action is unrolling. For me, they are fun to watch in that progression, as a sort of primitive movie, but some people get bored from watching similar photos. So, I chose to make two galleries: one with just one or two photos from each series plus the photos of the spectators, and the second gallery with the long series. However, the gallerie of the series is long - around 250 shots. That got me thinking about how I can make them presented in a more effective way. So, all reasonable thoughts and suggestions are welcome. I have some ideas, but I don't want to bias anybody's thoughts. For those who are interested, here is the series I am talking about: http://42graphy.org/science/2013-04-physfest/noddy-series/ Thanks, Igor -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: How to present photo series?
I'm with Bruce on this. It's very rare that I post a big set of individual stills (like I did with the E-M1 yesterday), and only for a specific reason. (Yesterday's reason was for those with an interest to study the OOC JPEG rendering of the E-M1 at high ISO settings and in stressful light.) Basically, if you can't get the message across in 8 to 12 carefully chosen stills, or if the message is longer than that, go to a slideshow in video presentation with music, titling, or voice-over docent narration to carry the theme. Re: K-3 Silver
Joseph, I haven't seen fake leatherette on a new Pentax camera in a long time. The K-5 is largely covered by plastic or a rubbery grip material. Here is what I see or feel. - right side grip rubbery from the front mirror box housing around to a 1/4 inch by 2 inch vertical metal strip with two phillips screws holding it on. - continuing on around to the plastic SD card door with rubber remote cover below it. - on the back we have more rubbery grip on the right side followed by plastic which carries the green button, AF button, LV button, 4 way buttons and OK button plus Info Menu - the remainder of the back is the plastic LCD with plastic surround - the left side is the rubber door for DCin, PC/AV, HDMI sockets and another thin vertical metal strip - the front left is again rubbery grip material up to the mirror box - the bottom is metal (aside from doors) and the flip-up flash is plastic. - the remaining top deck includes a big plastic picture window display and metal surround I am a bit confused as I forgot one time to let go of the grip and slammed the K-5 into the floor. The result sure looked like cracked plastic, but I guess it's not.(see picture) https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-MoF-D85hHSg/UlxJKuwaMwI/MgQ/W3e1dhtDaEw/w506-h335/KSGP1459.jpg Anybody want to buy my slightly used K-5 (only 4,175 exposures) Regards, Bob S. If I've made a fair effort, as this chap claims to have done, and I still don't get it, then I reconcile myself to my own ignorance rather than flinging insults at it, and at them, like a gibbon flinging shit through the bars of its cage. The very process of trying to understand difficult things can be its own reward, and I find it very satisfying, even when I fail, because I always end up better off than when I started. Re: K-3 Silver
A metal casting will crack like that too. Looking at my K5 I had trouble telling metal from plastic apart from the obvious bits like the flash and door. I could feel the temperature difference in some parts so I knew they were metal, but for other bits I had no idea.
