Re: PESO Windeward Bound

2014-08-16 Thread David Mann
I saw that in the background of a previous photo and hoped you'd post a pic of
it :)

It brings back fond memories of going out on a steam tugboat to watch the
Endeavour replica leaving Lyttelton Harbour. I lugged my RB67 and a large
print from that day (either 30x20 or 40x30, I forget) is hanging in the meeting
room at my wife's office. It's the biggest print I've ever had made.

I know I made a scan of it but it's not in my online database so I can't show
it right now.

Cheers,
Dave

Yes, the weak Takumar 135/2.5 in K mount has a multicolored dof scale
on the barrel - always easy to spot on ebay. I also believe it is not
multicoated glass. The older SMC K 135/2.5 is an excellent lens,
second only to the A135/1.8. Most people don't know about it.

Sorry, I should have explained that part a bit better for those who
are unaware of the confusing state of Pentax's 135mm f2.5 offerings.

Here are the versions of the 135mm f2.5 made by Pentax:
 Screwmount:
 1) Super Takumar and S-M-C Takumar Version 1
 2) S-M-C Takumar Version 2 (6 element design)

 K-mount
 3) SMC K 135mm f2.5 (6 element design)
 4) Non-SMC confusingly named Takumar Bayonet version which you can
 find almost anywhere for $50/60.

So I was making the point that the one I am offering (3) is the same

 (4).

 Hope that clears things up.

Anyone still have a darkroom and can use printing paper?

2014-08-16 Thread Ann Sanfedele

I don't think this os OT if you are shooting film with PEntax :-)

I came across a box of 5 x 7 Oriental seagull RP-F - Variable contrast
resin coated..about 200 sheets are I'd guess still unused and protected.
My only fear is that someone opened the black envelope.. now if all they
did was open it a little
then the interior paper is safe... how dead it is I don't know, It is
medium weight, glossy.

But I thought I would go into what is left of my darkroom and take out a
couple of sheets, mail it to whom ever is interested in this paper for

them to check out to see if it is any good. If it is and you want it,
I'll mail it to you and you can refund me the $1.99 I paid for it and
send me shipping money after you see how much it is when you get it.

Oriental seagull was may very favorite bw printing paper when I was
doing film.. I'd just like it to go to a good home to someone who really
will use it and who would appreciate the low cost. The box

says 250.. it isn't full.

Didn't notice your questions until now...

I have to admit I'm not 100% sure what these are. I believe lythrum
salicaria is what's called kattehale (meaning cat's tail) in

Re: American Landscapes 2014

2014-08-16 Thread Mark C

Thanks, Darren!

My workflow with the Holga is pretty simple - I generally shoot BW
film, so I develop it myself (changing bag / daylight tank) and then
just scan on a Nikon LS 8000. These days I scan everything and then
handle the files as digital images after that. Medium Format scanning
with the LS 8000 is the only situation where I use Nikonscan. The
software interface is a pain (changing certain settings makes everything
reset to the active profile) but scan quality is good. It's slow -
probably 2 1/2 hours to scan 12 6x6 exposures. Vuescan has a better
interface but requires the user to manually frame up the scan on the LS
8000 - something that would take forever to do. I use Vuescan for 35mm
with this scanner but it's not workable for MF.

This explains all the mixed reports I've heard about the K 135 2.5. A
big part of me wants to fill my bag with nothing but K series glass.
My back might not like that though...

 Bob,
Sorry, I should have explained that part a bit better for those who
are unaware of the confusing state of Pentax's 135mm f2.5 offerings.

So I was making the point that the one I am offering (3) is the same
optical design as (2) but not to be confused with the vastly inferior
 (4).

 Hope that clears things up.

 A bit confusing offer.
There is a SMC K 135/2.5 lens in a K bayonet mount, but you say NOT BAYONET.
So are you offering a screwmount version? Why not say so directly?

As you probably know, this is the K-mount version of the acclaimed
 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f2.5 (version 2), the 6-element
design. This is the finest optical design Pentax made in the 135mm
focal length. On a DSLR it gives you the equivalent of a 200mm FOV and
 f2.5.

This one is gorgeous cosmetically, optically, and mechanically and
comes with the original clip on hood, front rear caps, and matching
SMC Pentax hard case. If you are picky about the used lenses you
purchase, this one is for you.

$199 plus actual shipping cost to your address. Email me off-list for a

I prefer not to use Paypal, but would be happy to issue you a Square
Invoice if you desire to pay by credit/debit card.
