K3, DA 16-45 f4. I wanted to combine images and both some HDR and stack
focusing, but it was too breezy and merged photos were just a mess of
ghost images. SO this is just a single exposure.

Re: PESO Sigma sample

Nice sample, gives the impression of a well lit space. I haven't
tested mine in low light yet, but I'm very pleased with the
performance under normal daylight conditions.

 Hi Team,

I recently purchased the Sigma 18-35/1.8, basically as soon as it
became available in K-mount. I needed a really fast zoom to further my
low light performance photography capabilities. Whilst the zoom range
is a bit limiting this lens is really usable wide open and focus is
reliable (contrary to many reports that I have read). It's been
invaluable in low light and in studio, I'm pretty happy with the
purchase, it's definitely opened up new shooting opportunities for me.

The following shot is an out of camera jpg shot of the room that the
previous portrait was shot in just to give you an idea of the
 capabilities of this lens:

Cleaned the battery contacts, (using a rubber eraser), still no joy.
Dragged out the external power supply, plugged it in and into the camera, it
comes right on. Last time I used it it worked fine with disposable

Actually I should tell you that Gloucester Cathedral is a spiritual
domain for me - aside from the obvious religious connotation.

One of my favourite pieces of music, possibly the most favourite, is
'Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis' and this was composed by Ralph
Vaughan Williams in 1910 and guess where it was first played? Yep.

More: the Three Choirs Festival is still going strong and almost 100
years to the day guess what Alma and I wen to hear and where. Yep.

I am rarely moved to tears but to hear what is for me the most
inspirational piece of music I know, in the place where it was first
performed, at such a historic junction in time, was a bit much.

A bucket list tick as the yanks would say.

Thanks for the photographic reminder Mark.

PESO redone: After Hours

2014-10-10 Thread Rick Womer
When I looked at yesterday's PESO on the web, I wasn't enthusiastic about it,
either.

Was it the bilious green color of the carpet? Maybe.

So, I worked on the shot a bit in monochrome:
