Good to have you back, Subash! It's a beautiful and very interesting image. On my (calibrated laptop) monitor, I think the contrast is too high in the foreground; the hiker's trousers and all but the tops of the shrubs are featureless dark blobs. Re: Alaska Calendar
I received my calendar this morning, Ann. Thanks for doing it, and for the quick service. The calendar exceeds my expectations, even thought, based on what I have seen over the years, I always expect th4 best from your work. Our trip to Alaska was in 1992, the year of your second trip. We arrived just before the summer solstice, so we could be north of the Arctic Circle (in Kotzebue) for the longest day of the year, and stayed until after July 4, just long enough to experience a 3.5 earthquake and an airport covered with volcanic dust. I love all the images, but two of them especially resonate with me: The image of Denali at midnight, because that is the way I remember it, and the image of Portage Lake and Portage Glacier, which I remember well. We we were at Portage, they had a explanatory film in the visitor center, after which they opened the curtains, to reveal the glacier, RIGHT THERE! I understand that the glacier has receded so far that no it is no longer visible from where the visitor center was back then. I also enjoyed your images because you and I visited much different parts of Alaska, except for Denali, Portage and Homer. I never got up to the Alcan, to the Panhandle, or even to Fairbanks. OTOH, we flew up northwest, to Nome and Kotzebue on the Bering Sea, and southwest, to the Alaska Peninsula, King Salmon and Katmai. Another great job, Ann. Re: OT or not OT
Joe, Sad to hear this news. But happy to hear that you're keeping on as well as you can. What else to say? Know that you are in my thoughts and that I wish you all the best. Godfrey "On the occasion of this weekend, we give thanks: For all we have, For all we have had, For our friends, our family, our work, and our play, For the place we call home, and the places we love beyond there, For the food we eat, and the drink we imbibe, For the life we live, have lived, and will live, As long as it may last, That we can do whatever we can to love the world And all who make it what it is. For every thing there is a season, A time under the sun; An eternity lies before and beyond that." > On Nov 27, 2015, at 7:30 PM, Joseph McAllisterwrote: > > In the not too distant future, that is all you'll see from this tired old > photo=weenie. > > First found in late 2014, cancer of the left kidney. Re: PESO: Quick Change
Thanks, Jack, Frank and Ann. Hockey is difficult to shoot, because the boards and the Plexiglas atop the boards obscure a lot of the action. Yes, Ann, the fans are a bit casual, but by this time, the home team had the game well in hand. Besides, it's the Ivy League, not big time college sports. I really like the image of the gentleman waiting outside. The combination of the hat brim, the hood and the shades, together with the far-away stare, make for an interesting and unique character. PESO: Sliding Seat
This is one of the sliding sets in an 8+ rowing shell. You can also see the shoes in the foot stretchers. The sliding seat, together with the fixed position of the feet, allows the rower to power the stroke with the leg and back muscles, not just the arms, yielding a more efficient and powerful stroke. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18134067=lg K-5 IIs, DA 18-135 Zoom Comments are appreciated.
