I just unearthed mine. I found a couple of batteries that still had good
charge, put them in and - wonder of wonders, it still seems to work.
However, the ASA dial is either jammed tight or I need another set of
fingers to move it...

Edit:

With a good amount of struggling, I did manage to move it from ASA200 to
100. I can see why you'd only want to use one film speed in this thing.

The K2 dial never bothered me, mainly because I had little need to change it.
I still have one that's slowly deteriorating on the shelf. I can't bear to let
it go despite not using it since I bought the K10D.

Thanks

During my collecting phase (about 10 years ago - I'm over it now :-) ) I
bought one of each of these. I used the KX for a couple of years before
digital took over. I really liked that camera.

They're still stashed away in a cupboard so I must get them out and see
if they still work.

The KX was my favourite of the three. The K2 was nominally the top of
the line but that film speed setting dial around the lens flange was an
odd design choice. It invariably seized up and became almost impossible
to move.

I still have the MX I bought only a year later.

I've often wondered why Pentax introduced two entirely new
body ranges so close together - they must have had the M-series
bodies well on the way to production by the time the KM/KX/K2
were released.

Re: 20th Anniversary PUG is Up!

2017-04-04 Thread John Sessoms

Verizon just announced they're merging AOL with Yahoo into a new service
called Oath (or Swear or Curse or ...).

Try this again from Yahoo.

I tried to send a reply from my Earthlink account & got a bounce from
the Spam Eating Monkey. Apparently Earthlink user Steve Moyer is still
SPAMMING mailing lists & getting Earthlink's Servers blacklisted.

It may have something to do with the fact I haven't used that email

would tend to blame AOL first, before I look for other problems.

The less than optimal DOF is due to my laziness.
I opted for the monopod and left the tripod at home.

I'm currently using Yahoo for PDML.

There's a known problem between Yahoo & Gmail regarding mailing lists.
Gmail says Yahoo mail fails Yahoo's own authentication and marks the

I'm pretty sure there's a way Gmail can create a filter to white-list
the email address.

You're very kind, Cotty. My only regret is having taken that shot of

that sensor.

Re: PESO: Watching Sunset

2017-04-04 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
Thanks, John.
Also, I was a bit far away from the people in the foreground, so reall fill
flash probably wouldn't work.
I could, of course, lighten them up in PhotoShop, but:  1) nI'm lazy; 2}
that would change the mood of the scene; and 3} I'm lazy.

It was great to see pictures again from those who are no longer with us; I
remember so well their postings to the PDML.

A really nice gallery in all for every reason. I can't pick out a favourite,
I genuinely love them all.

Thanks for the kind words about my own submission.
