Re: PESO: Leader of the Pack
Oldest by far. Malamutes have been used and bred by the inuit of Northwest Alaska for at least a 2-3,000 years. I read of an ivory carving dated as being 12,000 to 20,000 years old that shows a dog almost identical to the Malamute we know today. Re: Lightroom's handling of over/under exposed areas in images
Eric, In the Develop module, look at the triangles in the upper corners of the histogram. If they’re white, the colors you mention show up in the under- or over- exposed areas of the image. If you click on them they turn black, and the blue and red areas disappear. I find the underexposure indicator helpful in setting the black point, personally. My experience is that the overexposure indicator can be turned on, the image not showing any red, but still with enough overexposure to blot out any detail or contrast. Re: Edward S. Curtis Exhibit
My wife and I traveled to Muskegon last week to experience the exhibit - it was well worth the investment of time and money. We spent roughly 4 hours looking at the entire exhibit but could have spent more. It was interesting to note that the tribes he covered were all western - I don't think he covered any tribe east of the Mississippi. He was self taught and even made his first camera. He certainly understood compositions and the value of quality light. His portraits were my favorite - he did have very photogenic subjects. The supplementary displays were extremely informative, filling in much that was not conveyed photographically. This exhibit was 2 years in the planning and must have cost the museum a lot with all the mounting and framing involved - the prints were initially available in 'loose leaf' books. A docent remarked that the images were originally sold as subscriptions ($3000 in the 1900's) to complete volumes of his work and that he did not sell the full number of subscription he planned on selling. He died in poverty. Go there if you can ! Kenneth Waller http://www.pentaxphotogallery.com/kennethwaller - Original Message - From: "Mark C"Subject: Edward S. Curtis Exhibit I went to Muskegon Michigan today to see an exhibit of Edwin S Curtis's North American Indian prints. It was an excellent and massive exhibit, well worth a visit. I doubt that many PDMLer's are nearby, but in case anyone is passing that way... All 723 of Curtis' prints were on display - the full set. The museum believes this is the first time the entire set has been displayed. I wondered how a fairly small museum got this exhibit and where it would go next. As it turns out the Muskegon public library was one of the 200+ subscribers to the original project and received the books and photogravure prints as they were published. A docent told me that at this time there were no plans to travel the show. My only complaint - 723 prints plus supplemental displays is a bit overwhelming - I plan another visit or two over the summer. Here are a few cell phone snaps of some of the exhibits: http://www.markcassino.com/b2evolution/index.php/edward-s-curtis-exhibit?blog=9 And the museums webpage: http://www.muskegonartmuseum.org/exhibition/edward-s-curtis-north-american-indian/ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Re: Lightroom's handling of over/under exposed areas in images
Eric, I'm not familiar with Lightroom or the Fuji, but I've run into similar issues with my K-3 and Photoshop. I've overcome it by looking at the image in the RGB histogram and adjusting the offending color to reduce that particular offending color channel. HTH Kenneth Waller http://www.pentaxphotogallery.com/kennethwaller - Original Message - From: "Eric Weir"Subject: Lightroom's handling of over/under exposed areas in images Lately, i’ve been experiencing bright reds in overexposed white-ish areas in images in LR and bright-blue in underexposed black-ish areas. I’m always able to eliminate the latter by backing off the black in tone controls. Most of the time I can do the same with the former by backing off the highlights or white, but increasingly frequently It seems I unable to eliminate the bright reds no matter how much I back off highlights or white. So, a couple questions: Why am I seeing this recently when I don’t think I ever did in the past? Is there anything I can do to eliminate the brightness reds other than backing off highlights and white in tone controls? A couple of things that may be involved. It may be that this started when I started shooting with a Fuji X-M1 mirrorless. Second, even in low-light settings I’ve been shooting at low levels of sensitivity—no more than 800—and then adjusting exposure in processing. Re: are we down?
I was down for eight hours. Did a lot of good. Now the morning coffee is brewing, and all is good. In this time zone anyway. :-) Jostein Den 22. juli 2017 00.00.57 CEST, skrev John: >It's right at 6:00pm EDT as I read this.
