pentax reliability grief
The good news is that my 15-30 does seem to focus. I haven't done any real photography with it yet, but I've put it on my K-1 a couple of times and it seems to be working. Yay. This afternoon I put my 16-50 on my K-3 for a friend to use, and it wouldn't focus. Even worse, it wouldn't manually focus, either. With a bit of fiddling it would intermittently focus. This evening I did some checking and it works just fine on the K-1 and the K-3 II, it just doesn't work reliably on the K-3. Huh? It almost seems as if the screw drive is intermittently stuck in an engaged mode. Meanwhile, my K-1 has developed a sticky lens release button. I'll push it in to release a lens, and it won't always pop back out to secure the lens in place. It seems like it just needs some cleaning or lube, but I'm not at all inclined to send it to precision. If there were an approved lubricant for it, I'd apply it myself. I'm just not happy with Pentax reliability, weather sealing, or repair services these days. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

December PUG is up
G'day all, A bit larger gallery this month. Some excellent work, as usual - Ken's "Show Me the Monet" is one favourite (great title too!). Others are Matthew's "Red Light" - simple & effective - and Henk's "Water in the Form of Art". View here: http://pug.komkon.org/ (you may need to refresh your browser if you see the previous gallery there). Note: The automated submission process usually works well but it's not infallible. So, if you made a submission and you don't see it in the gallery, let me know. + Next up: 'Gathering'. Full Submissions Guidelines here: http://pug.komkon.org/general/autosubmit.html You can submit here: http://pug.komkon.org/submit/ Cheers Brian ++ Brian Walters Western Sydney Australia http://lyons-ryan.org/southernlight/ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
