Very nice. I’m curious whether you also processed it as a black and white.

Also, a question about your composition choice. On the left, bottom and right,
there is a very similar amount of space between the edge of the frame and the
edge of Pylactere, yet at the top about a third of the frame is simply
background. Why the large open space rather than something closer to a 4x5
crop with much less empty space?

Both shot with the 645Z and the 55mm f:2.8 SDM lens. Each was lit by a
single light source.

The first was lit by an 8 inch hard silver reflector aimed though a
3/4-stop 8x8 foot scrim, above-right.
55mm/2.8 at f/8, 1/125th sec, ISO 100; handheld.

The second was lit by ambient window light, left.
55mm/2.8 at f/2.8, 1/30th sec, ISO 1600; handheld.

Model 1 is Olivia Preston, Playboy Cybergirl of the Year 2018.
Model 2 is Phylactere Rayna, a fine arts lecturer at the University of
Montreal, model, yoga instructor, dancer, photographer.

Enjoy!

Thank you. Again it was a case of looking for something interesting to put in
front of the sunset. That just reminded me of a subdirectory that I forgot to
look at for photos to add to the set. When I showed up at the beach an
ambulance crew was parked there enjoying the view. As a matter of fact, when I
was walking up to get a photo of the ambulance (it should be name Gloria
Monday, as in sick transit ….) the driver got out to take that same photo.

Re: cliche' pesos

2020-02-05 Thread Rick Womer
Larry,

Sometimes things become cliches because they are pleasing to look at!

Of the first set, 805 is my favorite. The colors are lovely, and interact with
the lines to draw the eye across the image.

In the second proof set, it’s a tie between 039 and 025. Mixing the city lights
with the ocean sunset works really well.

In the Sand City set, I like 707. The couple’s pose is casual, their size
enhances the image without competing with the scenery, and while the patterns
and footprints in the sand are visible, they are dark enough not to be
distracting.

Cheers,

Rick

Apparently so :-)

The car in my image was placed on the Sydney Opera House forecourt and a large
crane used to drop the boulder - to the amusement of a large crowd, I
understand. The whole thing was then moved to its present location.

Thanks again Brian for carrying on with the PUG!
This month - all good! Jan’s ball players, Don’s cross generational shot, and
P.J.’s rock I thought were particularly impressive pieces of art.

Brian, your crushed car reminded me of similar but very different sculpture I
saw in a mall in Amsterdam: a spherical red VW. Was it a metal sphere mocked up
somehow to look like a VW? Or in fact a VW that had been crushed in some large
metal press? In any case, there are at least two sculptors in the world who
have it in for poor innocent little red cars…

It was Windoze10 that wouldn't work. Attempting to install & use it was a

It was me, initially..
but I got a lot of support for not worrying about it.. that is, I will
continue with win 7 pro.  If things get dicey, I wouldn't do an upgrade
to my current desktop, I'd get another computer with Win 10 installed
.   Hopefully, I can avoid it for a long time..

I'm only connected through cable to the internet, have no smart phone
and no wifi, email set to plain text, etc..

Thunderbird wants me to up grade for 'better speed and privacy" but I'm
saying no to that..

You may consider giving a try first to Wine (and Wine-tricks)
before/instead of VM solution.
Or, try both before deciding. You can then compare their performance
with each other.

Re: backpack recommendations

2020-02-05 Thread Stanley Halpin
I found the info on my camera backpack which I had described earlier.

I have the LowePro Pro Runner 350 AW. The LowePro site shows it as Out Of
Stock, but I think that means that they are not making this anymore. I also
noted that the item they show is not the same as mine of the same name from a
few years ago. Same functionality, they’ve moved a few things around, made the
waist belt removable…

 https://www.lowepro.com/us-en/pro-runner-bp-350-aw-ii-lp36874-pww/

Beyond my earlier phrase, one thing I like about this bag is that I can fit it
under the seat on a regional jet, like a CR-J…
I’ve used Lowe equipment since the late 70s hiking, mountaineering, and more
recently photography. Good gear.
